Fedora :: Compiling AWN Beta For F12 64 Bit

The Avant Window Navigator beta, as taken from the project's Bazaar repository, isn't configuring correctly on my machine and gave me loads of errors previous to this point, so I've had my hands full for a while now. Three packages that AWN needs to compile (gnome-desktop-devel, gnome-vfs-devel and libgnome-devel) are refusing to install, leaving me with this Quote: checking for AWN... configure: error: Package requirements (glib-2.0 >= 2.8.0 gthread-2.0 gobject-2.0 gtk+-2.0 gdk-2.0 >= 2.10 dbus-glib-1 gnome-desktop-2.0 libgnome-2.0 gnome-vfs-module-2.0 gconf-2.0) were not met: No package 'gnome-desktop-2.0' found No package 'libgnome-2.0' found No package 'gnome-vfs-module-2.0' found.
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you installed software in a non-standard prefix. Alternatively, you may set the environment variables AWN_CFLAGS and AWN_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details. and this is why they won't install Quote:hal = 0.5.13-9.fc12 is needed by package hal-devel-0.5.13-9.fc12.x86_64 (fedora) I need an old version of HAL for the "dependency resolution failed" notices to go away. One which PackageKit says is still on my computer. I would try to downgrade via yum but setenforce 0 fails. What do I need to do to get this whole thing finished?

I am in verse to compile a new kernel 2.6.34-rc5 on RHEL 6 Beta.I have been following [URL] for the same. how can i select all the options during :

I just saved it under .config and when I ran : make modules it threw errro saying "modules not included". So i want to select complete options during make xconfig.

I'm trying to compile a beta MIPS simulator application built on the Qt UI framework, called QtSpim. It's been quite a learning experience for me so far, but I've run into a roadblock.The beta can be downloaded from here: URL... I am trying to use Skype beta on my acer aspire one with ubuntu 10.10. The video runs brilliantly and i can also here my wife from the other end but she cannot hear me. Apparently something is fishy with my mic input. I tried alsamixer and everything is in unmute. My alsa version is 1.0.23. The only think she hears is a loud hissing noise which is normally my bat voice but she doesnt need to know that. I can record my voice in the sound recorder but nothing comes out in Skype!

So here's the schedule for 10.04:
April 8th, 2010 - Beta 2 release;
April 22nd, 2010 - Release Candidate;
April 29th, 2010 - Final release of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
If I have 10.04 beta 1, could I just continue to update and not have to burn another disk to install? Or do I have to burn the beta 2 and reinstall if I want it?

Originally I had Ubuntu running on my machine. I installed windows beta 7 with a working dual boot. Get everything working in grub again. I decided to give Fedora a try and wiped my Ubuntu partition and installed Fedora. Everythings all good...except the reconfiguration of grub has left out my Windows 7 partition (nothing out of the norm) I tried manually adding windows 7 to /boot/grub/menu.lst but it's not working, when I try to boot into Windows 7 i get a little flashing "_" for a really long time and nothing happens.

yesterday I updated Thunderbird3 beta 3 to beta 4 from yum. Then it doesn't seem to work well. Running Thunderbird, after some seconds, it gets freezing...

I switched a while ago from Gnucash to Homebank. The current version of Homebank is 4.04, but there is a new 4.1 Beta which provides several very welcomed new features. Since there appears it will take some time for the official Fedora repo to provide version 4.1 (I checked Koji already), I was wondering if anybody around here already made an rpm that would kindly share. I even tried the tar package provided by Homebank's website but wasn't successful installing it.

I did a "yum install thunderbird" to get the thunderbird emal program. I got a beta version: thunderbird 3 beta 4.Is Fedora so bleeding edge that this should have happened? I have not changed the repositories that the installation of FC11 uses.(I haven't used 3 beta 4 enough to have any complaints about how it works.)

So i wanted to install flash on my FC12 box so I downloaded the flash tarzip and when I extracted it it gave me the .so file. The instructions say to put it in ~/,mozila/plugins and restart firefox but it is not showing flash content after I copied it here.

I just installed the F-15 Beta and cannot find a way to manage the appearance of the Desktop. It does have Background and Screen Settings but that's all I can find. I would like to reduce the size of the icons and alter the fonts if that's possible.

I have purchased HP Pavilion e9280jp/CT which has two 1.5TB (SATA 7200rpm) hard drives. But during installation Fedora 11 and 12 (beta) did not detect my second hard drive. It only showed one hard drive in the list. I used the Fedora Live CD and still it only showed one hard disk.
Then , I partitions my first hard disk as follows:
[1TB - Windows (Primary) ][ 100Gb - Linux partion ][ Factory recovery Image] and installed Fedora 12 , and now giving me Grub errors. How can I force Fedora installer to detect my second hard disk?

I just downloaded the Windows 7 Public Beta 64-bit. I am running Fedora 10 64-bit with VirtualBox 64-bit version.
When I try to install Win7 from the .iso, I get an error that says: "Attempting to load a 64-bit application, however this CPU is not compatible with 64-bit mode."
This is bogus because VT-x is enabled in VirtualBox for this vm.
Has anyone installed 64-bit Vista (and/or the Win7 beta) with VirtualBox successfully?

Short question here: Will fedora 15 with gnome 3, automatically update to the beta version once this is released? and will this beta version automatically update to retail Im on windows 7 now, and im getting into linux a bit, and since fedora 15 seems amazing to me i want to install this on my main pc aswell, but i want to make sure i do not have to redownload and reinstall it every time a new release comes out.

- Off a vanilla F11 livecd install, I stuck a 3 at the end of my grub line to boot into runlevel 3. I have been doing this for as long as I can remember (since Fedora 3). However now it seems to break and gives me a GRUB error. I press e to edit, and delete the 3. BUt it still throws and error?!?!?!?! Has this facility (ie sticking a number at the end of the grub line) been changed and why is my grub line now broken even though I've gone back and deleted the 3?
- If I install Fedora 12 beta now, will yum take me all the way into production when it goes live (assuming no killer bugs encountered), I'm guessing thats a yes?

I backed up all my data and installed F15. The installation went fine. I did everything like I normally do. This is not my first rodeo so I am pretty sure I didn't do anything. When it goes to GRUB all it shows is Fedora and "Other". No memcheck, Fedora recovery, nothing. When I went to Other expecting to boot into Windows it said BOOTMGR not found. Normally I deal with Ubuntu though. The partition was not formatted. Everything is their. There is a file on the C drive called BOOTMGR. So how do I get back to being able to booting Windows? I am pretty good with Linux and I know my way around the terminal so you don't have to take it easy on me.

Ive installed fc11 on my laptop (IBM lenovo R400). My work has a proxy which we must go through. I have set the proxy addresses in System Settings->Network Settings-> proxy. I have also run export [URL].. All seems to be ok, yum works from the command line, konquer goes out to the net just fine. However firefox wont connect to the internet no matter. The only way at the moment is to manually set the proxy in firefox.This doesnt seem right? Surely FF should pick up the system proxy? Does anyone have any ideas about this one?

Running Fedora 12, I am attempting to compile an application. The README file tells me that I need Qt 4.6.3. Clicking on System - Administration - Add/Remove Software, I find many packages having something to do with qt, but nothing looks like what I need. Is this available as a package for Fedora? If not, what would I need to do to download and use qt on my system?
