Since I had to fresh install F15, I was thinking about using the new Thunderbird beta. This is the command plus the error I receive.

yesterday I updated Thunderbird3 beta 3 to beta 4 from yum. Then it doesn't seem to work well. Running Thunderbird, after some seconds, it gets freezing...
Is there anybody same with me? under 2.6.30.8-64.fc11.i686.PAE
I did a "yum install thunderbird" to get the thunderbird emal program. I got a beta version: thunderbird 3 beta 4.Is Fedora so bleeding edge that this should have happened? I have not changed the repositories that the installation of FC11 uses.(I haven't used 3 beta 4 enough to have any complaints about how it works.)
View 6 Replies View RelatedI switched a while ago from Gnucash to Homebank. The current version of Homebank is 4.04, but there is a new 4.1 Beta which provides several very welcomed new features. Since there appears it will take some time for the official Fedora repo to provide version 4.1 (I checked Koji already), I was wondering if anybody around here already made an rpm that would kindly share. I even tried the tar package provided by Homebank's website but wasn't successful installing it.
View 4 Replies View Relatedrecently the update notifier get me the news that I have to uptdate my Mozilla Thunderbird mail client (now version 3.06) to the newest version 3.0.10. Well, no problem I say to myself and I click in "Install updates" as I usually do. Well, the problem appeared: for this v. of Thunderbird I need the package nss-3.12-8 the update manager somehow does not retireve it and I have the last (not testing version ) of nss-3.12.7-6.
I thought then to install manually and downloading nss-3.12.8-2 from RPMfind and also its dependencies nss-softtkn-3.12.8-1 , nss-softkon-freebl-3.12.8-1 and nss-util-3.12.8-1 (all the versions for my version of fedora 12, and my architecture x86-64). All went well installing the dependencies of nss, but when I tried to install nss-3.12.8-2 I get the following message

Well, in this way I could not get install nss and therefor also can not install the last version of Thunderbird!
So i have installed FireFox 4 Beta (..some reason its called Minefield 4.0 Browser??) on ubuntu 10.04 - now I have recently installed it onto my Windows machine about a week ago and I am inlove with it over Chrome, which is why I made the switch for my Ubuntu machine aswell - but I am wondering..
1) Why does it look like Firefox 3?? On windows its a completely new layout, design, and feel.. but on Ubuntu it looks and acts just like regular Firefox 3.
2) Whats with the name difference? When I pull up my browswer data online it says its Mozilla 5.0, but just dont understand?
3) Some javascript/jquery does not work anymore?
Is there something that I have done wrong, or installed the wrong package? I tried to download the file from firefox's website directly (a .tar.bz2 file) but could not figure out how to install it [i am an ubuntu newbie], so I went into terminal and installed it with the package manager with the following command(s):

I just tried upgrading to the Natty beta. I am having a problem logging in now. When I boot up I get to the GDM login window and try to log in. Then I get an error message that says: Failed to load session "ubuntu" And then I click log out and it just states me back to the login screen. There is no menu to select sessions or anything on the login screen, just the shutdown menu and the clock.
--Edit-- I fixed part of the problem and I can access my sessions now. I can log in using GnomeShell, but any of the other options result in "failed to load session 'ubuntu'" or "failed to load session 'gnome-classic'". I'm getting the feeling something is broken with Gnome, but I don't know what.
Is there a way to install 11.04 on a external USB drive. I tried the regular install but it will not let me pick the drive, it wants to install on my internal HD. I know I can use Startup disk Creator but It set it up like a install USB and it takes forever to boot up. Also if I use Unetbootin I won't be able to save files to the USB Drive.

I don't have an an external dvd drive. I don't have a scusi dvd drive I don't have a pci card for ide or sata connections I have fedora core 14 installed on it (although so far have failed to get the internet to work on the server - but that is a separate issue and probably not worth fixing if I am going to change OS)I have downloaded the dvd, copied the iso to fedora - using a USB pen Mounted the dvd within fedora - but it seems it needs to run on boot I've tried installing the dvd onto a pen drive (ie bootable) - which works on my pc - but the server doesn't seem to like the idea of booting from USB.
I can get Redhat 6 enterprise server on cd. But it there is a simple work around I'd be greatful too.
I am regretably a complete rooky so please make any instructions very simple.
I know you are thinking why is a complete rooky trying to install a redhat server - the only answer to that is - why not - gotta learn sometime.

View 3 Replies View RelatedTried installing using update-manager -d and received notification that my root does not have adequate space. Removed most of what I can and I am still short 560 mb or so. Even risking the removal of some questionable items I just don't see freeing up this much space to make it happen.Is there another way to install 10.04?Is there a way to increase the space allocation to root?Stupid question but, can I delete the image file for 2.6.31-20 without affecting the 2.6.31-20 version? Even if I can still not large enough to get to the 560 mb.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use Skype beta on my acer aspire one with ubuntu 10.10. The video runs brilliantly and i can also here my wife from the other end but she cannot hear me. Apparently something is fishy with my mic input. I tried alsamixer and everything is in unmute. My alsa version is 1.0.23. The only think she hears is a loud hissing noise which is normally my bat voice but she doesnt need to know that. I can record my voice in the sound recorder but nothing comes out in Skype!

I have no experience installing from source, so I may need to be coached through it step by step, but I am eager to learn and VERY motivated Why? I am trying to switch from gmail webmail to thunderbird, because of enigmail and privacy. However, I have been spoiled by gmail's elegance, and in order to get the conversation view add-on, so thunderbird still looks like gmail, the add-on requires the 3.3 version of thunderbird. The latest stable version which is in the repos (maverick) is older (3.1). I have already have done the following:

1) Should I first uninstall thunderbird 3.1? and enigmail?
2) Where do I install it, so it can still find my mails and work as now?
3) If it doesn't work out, can I go back, and if so, how? Once installed, will it be uninstallable from apt or synaptic?
4) Will Ubuntu continue to upgrade my thunderbird once a newer version is available at some time in the future?

April 8th, 2010 - Beta 2 release;
April 22nd, 2010 - Release Candidate;
April 29th, 2010 - Final release of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
If I have 10.04 beta 1, could I just continue to update and not have to burn another disk to install? Or do I have to burn the beta 2 and reinstall if I want it?
My update manager still says "updated 3 days ago" and no updates have come through today. Does anyone know if NBR has been automatically updated TODAY from Beta 1?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOriginally I had Ubuntu running on my machine. I installed windows beta 7 with a working dual boot. Get everything working in grub again. I decided to give Fedora a try and wiped my Ubuntu partition and installed Fedora. Everythings all good...except the reconfiguration of grub has left out my Windows 7 partition (nothing out of the norm) I tried manually adding windows 7 to /boot/grub/menu.lst but it's not working, when I try to boot into Windows 7 i get a little flashing "_" for a really long time and nothing happens.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had a portable apps version of Thunderbird (windows) that runs off a thumb drive and wanted to take the settings and transfer them to my Thunderbird that's on my Linux computer.
This is what I did:
First, I installed thunderbird on my Ubuntu 10.04 Linux box and opened it, and closed it (so that it would create the /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder in the user account).
Then, I renamed the linux /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder to .thunderbird_ORIGINAL
Then, I created a new /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder
Then, I took the windows e:ThunderbirdPortableDataprofile folder and copied it to the /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder.
Then, I looked into the /home/<username>/.thunderbird_ORIGINAL folder and wrote down the name of the folder with the ".default" extension.
Then, I renamed the profile folder (that came from the windows e:ThunderbirdPortableData folder) "<name-I-wrote-down>.default".
And then, I copied the profiles.ini folder from /home/<username>/.thunderbird_ORIGINAL to the /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder.
I opened up Thunderbird in Linux and everything seems fine! (I'll definitely be keeping a backup just in case)
My question is: is this fine and dandy, or a recipe for disaster?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThanks to Lucid not working properly on i845, i855 and other 8xx chips, had to re-install Karmic on my mum's computer.I saved all the data from her old install and I ve managed to get all her old emails from thunderbird, but I cant import her address book.In Thunderbird/tools/import/addressbooks it only allows importing of LDIF, .tab, .csv and .txt files, but I cant find any of these files in any of the Thunderbird, .Thunderbird, Mozilla-Thunderbird or Mozilla folders in Home folder or anywhere, all I can find is "abook.mab" which IS supposed to be her address book, but when I try and import it the entries are blank and/or indecipherable (prob cos not a compatible file type).
Its one of those "simple" things to do, thats taken hours and hours of time, but that I cant actually find out how to do.
I am having trouble installing upgrades to Fedora 14.
