I have come across one other thread which noted something similar. Is LibreOffice any better than OpenOffice? I plan to purge LibreOffice and install OpenOffice back on unless there is a good reason to keep LibreOffice.

Is it possible to import a PPT presentation to LibreOffice or OpenOffice?
I installed Libreoffice on my Ubuntu 10.10 (through wubi), and uninstalled Openoffice afterwards. Everything's ok. But then I continue to receive updates for openoffice modules (which are a lot btw). From the Software Center, currently installed are libreoffice modules together with (I think) their openoffice counterparts. Now the question is, is it safe to remove the openoffice modules? Or does Libreoffice need them, too? How do I remove them completely from the updates?

I have installed Redhat 5.5 and when I try to install Openoffice v 3.3, I get dependencies error. I successfully run "tar -xzvf" command. But when I run next command I get this error.

I have a Canon iR3570/iR4570 PXL, and installed the driver CQue 1.0 TCP/IP Queue from Canon webpage.
The problem:
- if i try to print an OpenOffice or LibreOffice Calc with an image and text, the image is not printed (the space is blank).
- if i try to print an OpenOffice or LibreOffice Calc with just an image, it's printed great.
- if i try to print an OpenOffice or LibreOffice Impress, the images are not printed but the text is printed great.

I have been trying to install openoffice, or libreoffice, and it's just an awful chore.
I tried using the gui tool. When I searched for libreoffice, I got nothing. When I searched for openoffice, I got a disorganized mess of separate apps, most of which seemed to have nothing to do with any office.
I got openoffice writer installed, then openoffice calc, but calc does not work.
So I downloaded libreoffice, and I am trying to go though the manual chore of getting it installed. But, the old openoffice is conflicting, and uninstalling open office is no easy task.
I went to the gui tool, and uninstalled the openoffice apps. But I when I try to install the desktop-integration RPMs, I keep getting a long series errors like this:

installing Open Office 3.2. Once I downloaded it, I extracted it, then went to the desktop integration folder. I clicked that and it took me to "openoffice.org-debian-menus" and I installed that package.

I used this application (version 2.6) on Fedora 11 and every time I created a video DVD, i would get an error 'You do not have the required permissions to use this drive'. Even though I was getting this message, it will burn the DVD successfully and I was able to watch the DVD on TV. But getting this error was annoying. I wrote to the developer Luis Medinas who didn't bother to reply. I posted question in Fedora forums and got no answers.
I came across a note on the internet that they have fixed this bug in version 2.8 that came with Fedora 12, so I installed a fresh copy of Fedora 12. But to my surprise this time Brasero came up with a different error.This time I wrote to another developer Philippe Rouquier and I haven't heard from him either. In next version of Fedora I would be very happy to see a "stable" CD/DVD burning application that won't throw errors.It is very annoying and a big turn off as a user. The only time I use Windows is to author DVD's TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4 simply because in Linux there is no program that is sophisticated and stable enough.
I am having problems installing the OOO_3.2.1_Linux_x86_install-deb_en-US.tar.gz install package from openoffice.org. When I unpack the tar.gz file, I get another folder labeled OOO320_m18_native_packed-1_en-US.9502, which as a folder named DEBS that has number of .deb files. How do I install the mentioned file or files? I would like to use the download for installation, so I can get the updated version of OpenOffice, and not use the Ubuntu repository.

I have been searching on Google, looking on forums and looking on the hardware sites, but I cannot find a replacement card.
The problem is the tiny Dell has a tiny place to put the card and according to Dell and Broadcom, it is a "halfcard", which I have no idea what that is.

Is there any way I can prevent OpenOffice automatically installing when using the Alternate disc? I want to install a different package (LibreOffice 3.3) without having to uninstall Ubuntu's OpenOffice.
i did a fresh installation of Fedora 15 x64 with Gnome3.
Whenever i start LibreOffice the X server or gdm crashes and i get to the login screen of gdm.
Does Libreoffce have a log file? There are so many Xorg/gdm log files, i don't find anything...
LibreOffice 3.4 shows up as installed and in my applications menu, but when I try to open it (either through the menu or by opening a file) it shows up with the spinning thing in the task bar but then disappears and never opens.
Did I forget to install part of it?
