I first had Virtualbox installed in Lenny, before I dist-upgraded to Squeeze some time ago. After the upgrade, however, I can no longer boot iso images from the hard drive in Virtualbox. For instance, I tried booting a Debian Lenny netinstall iso and the Squeeze beta iso, and had the same problem with both of them. They both hung with a black screen and a "_" in the top left corner.
The old virtual hard drives boot without a problem. I only have a problem with booting iso files from the psysical hard drive.
I am searching for iso's for Vbox which come with the guest-additions. They gotta be Debian-based (somehow). My goal is to have got a correct resolution. I tried to create one with live-helper, but that did fail. The purpose of the iso is troubleshooting (rsync, repairing grub, stuff like that).
I am trying to build a test VM with VirtualBox 3.2.8, hosted on Ubuntu 10.04 amd64. I am trying to install Debian Squeeze from the daily build (specifically, from the following URL):

(I've also tried the netinst ISO in the same directory.) The sha1sums are correct for each image.
When I start the VM, it refuses to boot, giving me the message "FATAL: No bootable medium found! System halted."
I would like to note that I've used VirtualBox for several years now, and GNU/Linux since 1995. So I have some experience in the field. (Of course experience is not much guard against brown-bag mistakes.) I've tried this same VM with an Ubuntu ISO (simply switching the attached ISO in the config), and it boots and installs OK.
Is there a known problem with the daily builds vs. VirtualBox?
I posted this over in the VirtualBox forums but was directed to the debian forums as it was the debian fork.VBoxManage and all virtualbox GUI elements are black with white text ("night mode" in other apps) with no borders or other useful Gui bits. Apparently the board image quota is reached (?) but you can see it here: URL...All the guests work, it's just this GUI issue.

vbox-install log on other board,I upgraded from Debian 7 stable to Debian 8 stable. I haven't used virtualbox in a long time, so maybe I somehow did this myself, but I'm not sure where that is if I did.
I couldn't find anything else in /var/log that would be useful. It's across all users. I checked the launch scripts /usr/bin/virtualbox, /usr/bin/ vbox manage, and /var/lib/virtualbox/*

I have VirtualBox installed as well as Wine, and I want to run Windows from the VirtualBox (Ubuntu 9.04 is my OS). VirtualBox won't start because "no bootable medium found." Another words I don't have an OS on VirtualBox. How do I get Windows install on VirtualBox, or how do I get Windows to boot through Wine in VirutalBox?
I am new to ubuntu and linux in general, I've been using it for about a week and I like it very much. The only problem is that I have an ipod touch and I purchase music and video from the itunes store from the device. I can import music but not the items purchased as it is encrypted so I need to use itunes. I installed virtualbox so that I could use xp (only to allow me to use itunes) but as I have a netbook with no disk drive I want to boot from a usb memory stick. Virtualbox doesn't appear to allow this so I am a bit stuck.
I need to evaluate PostBooks, an accounting packages that's 32-bit only,needs PostgreSQL and I only have Slackware 64-bit boxes available, I don't really want to install multilib, so I'm thinking VirtualBox for a quick and dirty (got the DVD, got 32-bit, got PostgreSQL, what the heck). Then I got to wondering -- before I screw something up, do you write to the virtual drive MBR or is there a better way?
I have been messing around with F13 in VM VirtualBox for awhile now. I have read in some places that it is better to install F13 into its own partition on the hdd creating a dual boot system for, in my case, Vista and F13. Any truth to this? I have been having problems with system settings in F13 while using VB. i.e.: sometimes the system will see 3d support, other times it won't. Sometimes it will see ethernet eth0 and then other times it won't. All my hardware from my MB to Display is supported according to the documentation I have looked at.
As a mature architecture student with 1.5 years under my belt. I have just built a new computer for this CAD work and have just set it up to dual boot with Ubuntu. But I am wondering if a VM might work for me, although I have heard they slow the CAD programs down.Also I have set up my system with two hard drives, one for the OS and the other for storage. I intend to image each drive and store it on the other for backup. Would I be better with one OS on each disc? or stick with what I have.**Although I am aware of Gimp, I have photoshop and know how to use it well so will stick with it for now.
I am planning on playing with the lynx on VirtualBox for a while just to do some test and maybe update my installation notes before moving everything but just can't get it to work.

Problem: After starting up the virtual machine and reaching the purple screen (where a keyboard and accessibility icons are displayed at the bottom part), everything just goes black with an un-blinking cursor on the top-right. I already tried recreating the virtual machine, removing and creating a number of times, and I've also tried reinstalling VirtualBox but the problem still persists.
I recently installed VirtualBox 3.1.8 r61349 from the deb file virtualbox- .1_3.1.8-61349~Ubuntu~lucid_amd64.deb onto a recent clean install of Lucid Lynx on my HP p6210f (6144 MB RAM, AMD Athlon II X4 620 CPU). I then imported a friend's VM and tried to boot it. The VM consistently hangs with the following showing on the console (this is the last 3 lines, for context):

I thought initially it was a problem with my friend's VM, so I decided to create a new VM from scratch, and boot from a CentOS-5.4-i386-DVD instead, which I have done before with previous versions of VirtualBox. When I do that, I'm able to select my installation method (so I know it's booting from the CentOS ISO), and then it hangs at exactly the same point. I couldn't find any other mention of this problem, but it's a pretty recent release of VirtualBox - I think just days old.

Essentially the title says it all. I have windows 7 installed and have no problems with virtual mode but how would I go about having the computer boot into ubuntu (KDE) then boot the virtual machine only to follow with seamless mode? I don't care if I can see the process work, by that I mean the booting of windows.
I'm running the host server on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (64bit) . I'm using virtual box. I want to automatically for one of the guest vritualboxes to start on reboot. Following is already done without a success. Please help me in solving this.
1. I have created the following shell script #!/bin/bash /usr/bin/nohup /usr/bin/VBoxHeadless --startvm "VMNAME" 2> /dev/null &
2.From the current logged on user I did a crontab -e and did the following

Can anyone help me with how to create an init.d script that will startup a vm machine in virtualbox at boot? I found this script:[URL]..But it is for ubuntu. I am running fedora 12 x386 and using it as an Amahi server. Very cool, but it would be extra cool if I had a virtual windows machine startup when I booted up this server. Then I could just rdp into it when I needed something in windows.
I have a VirtualBox 3.1.2 image of Debian 5.0.2 running on Windows XP SP3. I would like to export that Debian image to a USB harddrive such that I could boot to that drive and run it natively. Is that possible to do with a VDI?
I have VirtualBox 3.1.2r56127 running on WindowsXP host, and Debian Lenny as guest.Everything seemed to work before I finished the vboxadd setup adding VirtualBox client support. Now the mouse responds to right click opening a menu in right bottom corner of the window, but nothing else works mouse wise.
If I recall correctly, my Squeeze desktop is working whereas my Squeeze laptop isn't.

I am trying to transfer a files from my linux to my windows 7 virtualbox but how to do it. I installed samba as a server and bridged the virtual machine to my physical LAN but i just don't know how the real transfer is achieved...
I recently installed debian testing, amd64, on my box and I am running the xfce desktop. When I login, I always get a bubble popup telling me that virtualbox is not running. Is it something I should be worried about? I use only Linux on my machine.
I have a problem with my virtualbox 3.2 (obviusly puel version). I use Debian squeeze and I found various things on the net. The vbox wiki says that in modern distros you only need to be part of the vboxusers group to use the usb drives. INfact, after adding myself to the group, my usb drives have become visible in virtualbox. However, when I click them (I have already configured the vbox usb filters), nothing happens: the usb is unmounted in linux and vbox says that the usb is captured, but in my xp sp1 nothing happens.
Does anyone of you know the correct procedure to make the usb work in debian squeeze?
For some time I was trying to run an asp.net program in Linux using Mono with no success. So I installed WinXP IIS webserver in VirtualBox. This created a conflict with the apache webserver on my main server. My router will direct the user requests to only one of them. Is there a way to direct the aspx.net users to the VirtualBox IP and the other users to apache on the same domain? I tried to do that with bind and a php redirect page but failed.

The result of all is: virtualbox is still not running. I use experimental branch flash is not working now. flashplugin was installed, I restarted my browsers, not working. I tested it with opera, chromium and iceweasel.
My questions are: How I ever can go back to stable? How can I make virtualbox run? How can I make flash run?
I'm using debian squeeze with gnome 2.30.5. When you need more infos or results of commands I give it to you. 2 days of work and nothing is running.
