I'm using the latest Vbox on FC15. I'm running a win7 guest and it seems to work ok, but whenever I select "settings" the following error windows is displayed:Failed to access the USB subsystem.Could not load the Host USB Proxy Service (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND). The service might not be installed on the host
computer.followed by:Result Code:

Any ideas as to what it is complaining about? I have a fresh install of FC15 and vbox and I installed the win7 guest from scratch.

I am trying to run VirtualBox on Ubuntu 11.04 Natty, and when I make a virtual machine it says it is successful. However when I try to run the machine I get this error box. What did I do wrong? What can I do to fix this? I've deleted the virtual machine and made a new one. I've uninstalled and reinstalled virtualbox but nothing I've tried works.

I installed Vista in VirtualBox 2 days ago and all has been well since. However I just started VB tonight and although it started up ok, when I clicked on Start (Vista) I get the following pop-ups.
Although one of the errors appears to say what I should do, I don't understand it
Could somebody tell me what I need to do to fix it please? Preferably in English

So I decided to build a server using two HDDs and after checking the net I decided to go with Software RAID.Before I mess around and go ahead and buy two 500 GB HDD, I decided to try it out first in virtual box.(my system is F13 64bit with 4GB)
I set up a virtual machine with 2 X 10GB HDD.Mount the live CD (f13 32bit).Run regular install > choose custom layout and do as follows: SDA & SDB will both have Software RAID 500 MB and another software RAID of about 9500 MB I will have md0 /boot (sda1 & sda2 = 500 MB) And another md0 having LVM group loaded with / + SWAP I choose to install boot loader on md0 the first time and I receive the following error when I boot from HDD: FATAL: INT18: BOOT FAILURE I tried installing boot loader on sda same thing.

I have been messing around with F13 in VM VirtualBox for awhile now. I have read in some places that it is better to install F13 into its own partition on the hdd creating a dual boot system for, in my case, Vista and F13. Any truth to this? I have been having problems with system settings in F13 while using VB. i.e.: sometimes the system will see 3d support, other times it won't. Sometimes it will see ethernet eth0 and then other times it won't. All my hardware from my MB to Display is supported according to the documentation I have looked at.

Can anyone help me with how to create an init.d script that will startup a vm machine in virtualbox at boot? I found this script:[URL]..But it is for ubuntu. I am running fedora 12 x386 and using it as an Amahi server. Very cool, but it would be extra cool if I had a virtual windows machine startup when I booted up this server. Then I could just rdp into it when I needed something in windows.

Today is two out of three boot messages fixed. Working on the third one now, and that relates to virtual machines. The whole Virtual machine thing is new to me. Never used it, but I'd like to start. Therefore, I am no longer willing to just ignore this. The error message during boot is this:
Quote: Starting VirtualBox kernel module [60G[[0;31mFAILED[0;39m] (modprobe vboxdrv failed. Please use 'dmesg' to find out why)

I have a 10-year-old desktop computer with Windows XP on one drive and Ubuntu 10.4 on the second drive. The first is an old IDE disk, the second a more modern SATA drive. Tried to boot Ubuntu, and got a lot of arcane i/o errors that I am sorry I can't repeat verbatim but there was something about unable to read sector this or sector that, among other things. I thought maybe the drive was hosed. Tried booting into recovery mode to see if I could figure anything out but it was too geeky for me. Then I tried rebooting Ubuntu to see if I could look at the errors again but now the system insists on going into recovery mode.
Then I tried booting windows, which as I mentioned is on a different physical drive. The MS logo comes up and then it reboots spontaneously and we're back where we started. Any ideas? Should I suspect the second drive is seriously damaged, or could there be some problem with the motherboard?

I first had Virtualbox installed in Lenny, before I dist-upgraded to Squeeze some time ago. After the upgrade, however, I can no longer boot iso images from the hard drive in Virtualbox. For instance, I tried booting a Debian Lenny netinstall iso and the Squeeze beta iso, and had the same problem with both of them. They both hung with a black screen and a "_" in the top left corner.
The old virtual hard drives boot without a problem. I only have a problem with booting iso files from the psysical hard drive.

I have VirtualBox installed as well as Wine, and I want to run Windows from the VirtualBox (Ubuntu 9.04 is my OS). VirtualBox won't start because "no bootable medium found." Another words I don't have an OS on VirtualBox. How do I get Windows install on VirtualBox, or how do I get Windows to boot through Wine in VirutalBox?

I am new to ubuntu and linux in general, I've been using it for about a week and I like it very much. The only problem is that I have an ipod touch and I purchase music and video from the itunes store from the device. I can import music but not the items purchased as it is encrypted so I need to use itunes. I installed virtualbox so that I could use xp (only to allow me to use itunes) but as I have a netbook with no disk drive I want to boot from a usb memory stick. Virtualbox doesn't appear to allow this so I am a bit stuck.

I need to evaluate PostBooks, an accounting packages that's 32-bit only, needs PostgreSQL and I only have Slackware 64-bit boxes available, I don't really want to install multilib, so I'm thinking VirtualBox for a quick and dirty (got the DVD, got 32-bit, got PostgreSQL, what the heck). Then I got to wondering -- before I screw something up, do you write to the virtual drive MBR or is there a better way?

Since installing debian 8.2 I have had a list of errors appear during the boot, I get the usual Loading, please wait message then a series of random errors.I think I am stuck in initramfs, then typing exit resumes boot. Should I be concerned and can I jump straight into the login screen without typing exit each time?

I'm having two distinct Grub boot errors with Ubuntu 9.10, stemming from two different setups. Anticipating that I'll be asked I ran BootInfoScript on both setups. This is the first setup, where I put a Flash ROM card in the Flash ROM port in front of the computer. This setup will not boot at all, and I get a message something like "Insert appropriate media and try again."

I have a relatively new computer that won't boot Win 7. After going through a lot of tries, I got a suggestion that I try to boot using Ubuntu from a USB flash drive ( since I can't burn a CD).
I followed the procedure to put the necessary files (Version 10.04 64 bit if I recall correctly) on the drive and tried to boot using it.
I got this message:
When I tried to boot again (from the above) I just got the second message (No DEFAULT etc.)

I've made a CentOS 5 x86_64 setup last year, around november/december.This system is supposed to operate as a home router/gateway, firewall, nas, small intranet/extranet server and media center.I've previously built a system using older parts (Pentium III 866MHz), and had on it CentOS 5 x86.It successfully served the same purpose (except nas and media center) for quite some time, about 1-2years, until i felt i needed better hardware (more memory, speed and disk space mainly) and 64-bit support.
Part of this intended setup isn't finished (router/gateway, firewall, media center), partially because i'm still lacking a good 1000mbps switch and a supported wireless n 3-antenna card in AP/server mode.In the previous setup, i had router/gateway, firewall and small intranet/extranet server working, with a crappy 100mbps switch (the switch is broken now).the new setup has run pretty well, it had been upgraded 2 times, etc...But since it has been installed, even before any updates, upgrades or repo additions, there has been always warnings/errors during kernel boot.I'm listing my specs, configs, versions and logs bellow. all the partitions, RAID and LVM were created during CentOS initial setup.
Hardware:
Case:1x Cooler-Master CM-690 II Advanced (RC-692-KKN2)
PSU:1x Corsair VX450W (CMPSU-450VX)

As a mature architecture student with 1.5 years under my belt. I have just built a new computer for this CAD work and have just set it up to dual boot with Ubuntu. But I am wondering if a VM might work for me, although I have heard they slow the CAD programs down. Also I have set up my system with two hard drives, one for the OS and the other for storage. I intend to image each drive and store it on the other for backup. Would I be better with one OS on each disc? or stick with what I have.**Although I am aware of Gimp, I have photoshop and know how to use it well so will stick with it for now.

I am planning on playing with the lynx on VirtualBox for a while just to do some test and maybe update my installation notes before moving everything but just can't get it to work.
Environment details:
OS: 9.10
Kernel: 2.6.31-21-generic
Machine: Compaq Presario B1200, 3 GB RAM, 14 GB available disk space
VirtualBox: VirtualBox OSE 3.0.8_OSE r53138
Problem: After starting up the virtual machine and reaching the purple screen (where a keyboard and accessibility icons are displayed at the bottom part), everything just goes black with an un-blinking cursor on the top-right. I already tried recreating the virtual machine, removing and creating a number of times, and I've also tried reinstalling VirtualBox but the problem still persists.

I recently installed VirtualBox 3.1.8 r61349 from the deb file virtualbox- .1_3.1.8-61349~Ubuntu~lucid_amd64.deb onto a recent clean install of Lucid Lynx on my HP p6210f (6144 MB RAM, AMD Athlon II X4 620 CPU). I then imported a friend's VM and tried to boot it. The VM consistently hangs with the following showing on the console (this is the last 3 lines, for context):
NetLabel: protocols = UNLABELED CIPSOv4
NetLabel: unlabeled traffic allowed by default
NET: Registered protocol family 2
I thought initially it was a problem with my friend's VM, so I decided to create a new VM from scratch, and boot from a CentOS-5.4-i386-DVD instead, which I have done before with previous versions of VirtualBox. When I do that, I'm able to select my installation method (so I know it's booting from the CentOS ISO), and then it hangs at exactly the same point. I couldn't find any other mention of this problem, but it's a pretty recent release of VirtualBox - I think just days old.
The VM: OS Type=RedHat (presumed 32-bit), 1 processor, 1024 MB RAM

Essentially the title says it all. I have windows 7 installed and have no problems with virtual mode but how would I go about having the computer boot into ubuntu (KDE) then boot the virtual machine only to follow with seamless mode? I don't care if I can see the process work, by that I mean the booting of windows.

Debian 8 faild to boot normally, thowing several screens of error messages. Then it suggested to enter root pw and do some maintenance, and upon accepting my root pw it booted me into command line.I guess, those screens of errors are saved to some log files - if this is the case, in which files shall find it?I tried:
/var/log/syslog - an endless file, yet the records end at 28/12/2015
/var/log/dmesg - same
/var/log/boot.log - not there
