I did a fresh lenny amd64 install from netinstall. I did not check standard system during installtion. Now I installed gnome and some other packages. Just one question,I can not use "?abc" to search abc in man page.(At the bottom of man page there is a "more") But I can do that if I install from a installtion CD1 with default opition. What is the problem?
Missing a package or some config files?
There is one little thing annoying me in man pages. When I search for text using '/' command the line where the text is found is positioned at the top of the screen. I find it inconvenient because when I search for text I want to see it in the context which also includes the a couple of lines before the found text.Is there a way to tell the man pager not to scroll the screen all the way to the top during search?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Deluge 1.2.0 from the following PPA:[URL]I using this on two different Linux computers. One is running Linux Mint 8 and the other is running Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10. The first time on either computer when I enable WebUI in the Deluge GUI it works fine. However if I ever disable it in plugins section I am subsequently unable to re-enable it (doesn't appear in the side panel again). Rebooting or reinstalling Deluge seems to have no effect.Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

i did manage to install apt-get and was able to run synaptics ... but now whenever i try to run synaptics it flashes the interface and crashes. i tried apt-get search wget and it says invalid operation search. i tried apt cache wget and get a crash box in the upper right corner... i tried apt-get gtk+extra-2.1.2-4.fc14 and it says invalid operation gtk...
All of which is frustrating my attempts to get the GTK interface to J working. Their script uses WGET which i also cannot get.
On FC11 64 bit with Adobe flash plugin for Linux installed, I see segfault errors from "npviewer" in /var/log/messages. The only browser I have tried yet, Firefox, has glitches every now and then. Sometimes it shows the title of a page in a tab, but the page is blank. This can even happen when I try the Google main page. Is it true that npviewer has something to do with Adobe flash? Is there a way to fix the problem? If it is caused by Adobe flash, is there a different plugin that will replace Adobe flash player?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi am able to try ubuntu and everything works fine until i try to install. the menu comes up to the first page where it tells you to plug in your machine and make sure there is enough disk space and network connectivity. when i hit next on this page the mouse icon changes but the next page never loads. the longest i let it hang there was 2 hours. ive tried multiple times with the same result.

What is my problem? I have a page (one page - text an graphic) to print. When I sent it to my printer it prints OK. When I sent it agian, the output is totally garbled. When I sent it again (a third time) it is OK. Sent it again (4th time) it is garbled. Sent it again ... you get the picture ;-). Alternating good and bad pages.
What is my setup? I run Fedora 14 with Cups 1.4.6. The printer is a HP Deskjet 940C. It is connected to a linksys wireless print server. It is configured in CUPS to use ipp printing. The driver I use in Cups is 'CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.6 Simplified (color, 2-sided printing)'.

I have been using Epiphany for about 10 days now. It seems that suddenly my search engine was changed from Google to VirginMedia.I cannot find any option to set the default search engine, either in Epiphany preferences or in gconf-editor.Can anyone explain how this change has occurred or how I might get back to having Google as my default search engine? I have many different accounts set up on my icedove and sometimes I don't remember on which account I received the specific email I'm looking for, so I would like to be able to search through all my folders (say, absolutely all folders: all accounts, inbox, sent, trash, drafts, etc...).
Neither the quick filter toolbar, nor the "Search message" (Ctrl-Shift-F) feature seem to allow this. Now that's where the brand new shining "Global Search" (Ctrl-K) feature should be useful. However it does not seem to support partial match. So for instance if I'm looking for someone named "Lebenhaus GrossGrabenstein" but only remember that his name contains "Gross", the search through global search will return no result.
I'm pretty sure it was possible to do a proper search (with partial matching) accross all mails in previous versions of icedove, but I cannot find it anymore.
Right now the only workaround I have is to do a "grep -R" on my ~/.icedove folder, which is not very efficient and not flexible at all...
I have realized that in not installing suggested packages I've missed out on a ton of doc files, which would really come in handy while I'm away from internet access.
Is there a way take a list of currently installed packages and find out which of them have doc packages available? Possibly install them in a single step? I have been playing around with aptitude and apt-rdepends, but I'm not quite sure how to go about this. Somehow take a list of installed packages, run it through an apt-cache search, and end up with a list of -doc packages to install? My bash-fu isn't the greatest, and I suppose this could be a bad idea to begin with.
I've figured out that '~i !~M' will give me all packages I have manually installed. Can I formulate a query such that I get all packages manually installed from a particular distribution (e.g. Lenny, Squeeze, Sid)? Yes, I'm using pinning.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAs of today I can't seem to use the search feature of Nautilus (in GNOME 3). Say I open my home folder and press Ctrl-F to get the search bar. Whatever I type, as soon as I stop typing and Nautilus should start the search process, it just freezes completely. The cursor stops blinking and that's it, all I can do is run `killall nautilus` from a terminal. According to the System Monitor nothing is really using CPU.

I want to combine 4 ps(or pdf) page to single page and for this i have try a2ps command as:
a2ps -4 1.ps 2.ps 3.ps 4.ps -o outfile.ps
Event through it divide the page into four section. But only give one output of my four input. other three section is blank. Is i am doing some wrong or Is their any other command to do so.
