Debian Hardware :: Intel DH55TC / 82578DC No Networking?

Feb 17, 2010

Debian Lenny 5.0.4 Installer does not reconize the Intel 82578DC network chipset.

"vendor: 8086 ("Intel Corporation"), device: 10f0 ("82578DC Gigabit Network Connection")"

It should be supported by e1000e driver:

[URL]

According to this:

Even CentOS (much older kernel than Debian) supports this chipset.

Is they an easy way to make this work on Debian 5 - or a reason why this isn't supported by Debian 5 yet ?

Ubuntu Installation :: Gnome Init Freezes In 9.10 On New Intel DH55TC

Jan 13, 2010

I just purchased a new Intel DH55TC motherboard, a Core i5-661 processor, a WD Caviar Green 640GB drive, and a Linksys WMP110 card. I was able to successfully install 9.10, but every time it loads to the desktop it freezes. It seems like it may be an ACPI problem with the built-in H55 graphics card on the CPU. I hit 'e' at the grub prompt, and added 'noacpi' to the end of both the kernel (or linux?) line and the initrd line. WHen I did that, I was able to get to a point that it was fully loaded and I could move the mouse around, but as soon as I opened a menu, like 'Applications', the desktop froze again.

(NOTE: I have today's daily 10.04 on a USB, and will try that next as a live disk)

OpenSUSE Hardware :: 11.3 On Intel Core I5 With Integrated Graphics + Intel H55 Express Chipset

Aug 18, 2010

! I'm thinking of buying a corei5-660 on a motherboard with an Intel H55 Express Chipset. Does anyone know if it's fully compatible with OpenSUSE 11.3? I mean video (that comes from the processor, not an off-board PCI), audio (HD Audio), networking (Intel 82578DC Gigabit), SATA Controller, USB, etc. I've tried to google but didn't find much info so I wonder if anyone is using or knows where I can find more info about it...

I have found this thread on the forums about the H55 chipset: Core i3 Intel Clarkdale graphic controller problem But the problems were facing on 11.2, I don't know about 11.3...

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Intel HD Graphics (Intel Core I3) With Suse 11.3 - Poor Resolution

Jan 2, 2011

I've installed Suse linux 11.3 (kernel 2.6.34.7-0.5) on my brand new computer HP all in one 5130. Everything worked incredibly well : Wifi, wireless keyboard and mouse, sound, webcam.. There is only one remaining issue : I get a very poor resolution (1280x1024) instead of the 1920x1080 allowed by the screen. The graphic card is an intel chipset (HD graphics) integrated to an intel core i3 CPU. Here is (part of) the X11.org log :

Debian Configuration :: No Sound On Intel 82801

Nov 27, 2010

I've recently installed stable (5.x, I think that's lenny...) on a laptop and there's no sound at all.

I had this problem years ago when I last installed linux on here. I solved it then and I thought the solution was unchecking "external amplifier" in alsamixer.

I believe my sound card (Intel 82801DB-ICH4) is detected and the appropriate driver loaded (snd_intel8x0) however, even running speaker-test produces no sound (no error either).

I've read that the intel hda have a model parameter found by greping for codec in /proc/asound/card? but I can't find any information about what codec is used in any path like that. Is there a model parameter for this card too? I'm on a philips freeline X10 laptop.

I ran alsaconf and nothing seemed to change. I tried alsactl init but the command init wasn't found, I suppose that must only be in newer releases. I installed libesd-alsa0 to replace libesd0 but that didn't help (should I revert this file? libesd0 says it's for oss). I also appended "options snd_intel8x0 index=0" to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base which got the card registered as the first device.

Here are the outputs of commands I've seen used:

Debian Multimedia :: Intel HD 4600 And Two Monitors (DP And DVI)

Apr 17, 2016

I have the following situation:

- Intel HD 4600 and 2 Full-HD monitors (Dell IPS, same model)
- left DisplayPort, right DVI
- Debian stretch with Linux 4.4.0-1-amd64
- XServer X11R7.7 and Cinnamon 2.8.7

… and the following problem:

When I restart the system or login after Standby, usually (not always, but often) some strange green and red pixels appear on the monitor which is connected via DVI. I can remove them by changing the display settings and restoring the extended mode again. However, most of the time the XServer crashes by trying to enable or restore the dual monitor mode (although I’m still able to start a new instance of X from another tty). The XServer also crashes every time I try to enable the extended mode from another situation.

I’ve already tried the following:
- connecting both monitors via DP (no pixes, but also crashes)
- swapping the monitors and using different cables, assuming a hardware problem first (no change)
- VGA instead DVI (works, but inelegant).
- blacklisting i915 or using the xforcevesa boot option (neither of them works, i915 starts though)
- using the nomodeset boot option (detects only one monitor and produces a fallback in software rendering mode)

Debian :: KFreeBSD - How To Install Intel Video Drivers

Jun 8, 2011

Feel stuck between Debian and BSD worlds - not sure where to turn.

Running GNU/kFreeBSD debian 8.1-1-amd64 and base system working. Can not get X or xrandr to co-operate and use proper resolution of 1680x1050. I believe the basis of this is that it using the VESA drivers and instead should be using the INTEL drivers.

I have no 'pkg_add' for ports, plus obviously no Debian repos will help for this .... unless there are some specific kFreeBSD repos I dont know about? I can post more details on the system, but am hoping that there are other options besides compiling. I can do that if need be, but not even sure which one to use. Will these work on this system? Debian Configuration :: Intel GM45 Terrible Performance.

Jun 7, 2010

Ok first off, I love debian, but on my new notebook I am getting a little frustrated with the terrible, video performance.Direct rendering is enabled on both systems, and openGL is working (I can if I wanted to use compiz etc...) fine on both systems, just running slow on debian.

I have tried Lenny, Squeeze and Sid, I have compiled the intel driver (and Mesa3D) from git and got it working (I am sure its working because its given me a slight boost), I ahve also tried building the latest stable (and RC2) kernel. If I install ubuntu 9.10 I get pretty decent 3D performance, its not ground breaking, but hey its an intel chipset so I am not expecting to kick the latest nvidia / ati card's backside.I really dont want to use ubuntu, I find it unstable when compaired to debian, but I also want to be able to play the odd game when I am bored, and at the moment I just cant do that under debian

Debian Configuration :: Can't Unmute HDA Intel Sound Card?

Aug 3, 2010

According to HDA Analyzer, my sound card is muted; however, I can't unmute it through HDA Analyzer or anything else. According to alsamixer, everything is unmuted, though. According to the ALSA documentation, there's no 'model' id for my codec -- Conexant 5069 -- so I don't have an option to put in /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf. What can I do to unmute the card???

Here's the hardware: cat /proc/asound/cards:
