View 1 Repliesi have problems with my failover machines and cant locate the cause. The last update is quite some time ago.So will it hurt my configuration when I do an yum-update? I have 5 Xen VM on each machine, also they replicate with drbd and heartbeat. Can I just update the dom0 and leave the VM untouched inside?

I need an update on the ndiswrapper sottware package. Previously, when I totally rebuilt my laptop, I was able to find and install the ndiswrapper RPM from somewhere using the Add/Remove software tool provided in CenTOS 4.x - it worked great! The last time I used this was about a year ago - probably Dec 09.I am currently rebuilding my laptop and anticipated be able to find and install the ndiswrappper as before. My current search doesn't find it! Did I miss something here? Is there a server down - or possiblly is this just no longer available using the Add/Remove tool?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was downloading to a USB drive and went to continue the download without the USB drive plugged in. "Save location not found " etc. So I plug in the drive now it wants to start all over. How do I make it start from where it left off. There are no transmission files on the ISB drive dir. that seem to hold the info and the transmission "queue" has reset as if I had not downloaded any data yet.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince school ended, I decided to finally wipe and due a clean upgrade to Slackware 13.0. Everything is great except one thing. When I want to save something in firefox, the "save as" window that popups up, that allows you to browse to right directory, popups too low. In my window manager(wmii), the bottom is cutoff. I want to have the window popup higher. Is this possible? In my previous install, I think the window would usually remember where it last was, but now it seems to always popup in the same location. I'm not sure if this is slackware, firefox or wmii issue. Also I tried another wm, Awesomewm, and it showed up in the same spot.

how to get around this? I tried yum clean all, then yum update, again but it did the same. I had other deps missing on other servers but yum clean all fixed them -- can't find anyone else who's had this specific issue either, nor an rpm called 'device-mapper-event' or the other things that are missing - am kinda stuck!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find the location of a package on my linux machine. There are several commands that i have tried like 'rpm -ql kernel-headers-2.6.32-71.18.1.el6.x86_64' but this is no good.
I also tried the following command 'rpm2cpio kernel-headers-2.6.32-71.18.1.el6.x86_64 | cpio --list! But I get a msg saying "kernel-headers-2.6.32-71.18.1.el6.x86_64: No such file or directory"So I decided to download the rpm and when I tried to install it I get "package kernel-headers-2.6.32-71.18.1.el6.x86_64 is already installed"Is there any way I can find out the location of this file??? It is not in any of the /usr folders (bin, lib, lib64, include etc...)
Using rpm -qa | grep -i <pkgname> gives if a package is installed or not.
But, I would like to find out where a package is already installed i.e the location where a particular package is installed say /opt/<pkg>
I have many servers running CentOS 5. I noticed yesterday many had a notificationthat updates were available. I clicked update and they all fail using the GUI. WhenI run yum update it shows packages to be upgraded and asks me to confirm. I enter yes but Yum fails on the first package. I wonder if this has something to do with therelease of 5.3?I get the same failure if I run a yum upgrade too.

We have moved from a Windows based SMTP server to Sendmail on Cent 5.5. We have a special application that was written to look at the "BadMail" folder on the Windows box. I am told by my developers that it is capable of monitor remote locations and they just need to know the format or extension of the badmail files.
My question is what is the default location of the badmail folder in Sendmail? This is a default install from CentOS.
For security reasons I need to ensure all of my users screensaver is set to come on after 10 minutes of inactivity. My thought was to find the screensaver config file, modify a setting in the file to 10 minutes and change ownership of the file to be root (so the user can't undo my changes either in the file or via the gui). However, I can't find the screensaver config file to do this. I'm running Centos 5.2. Anyone know where I can find the screensaver config file?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am very new to linux and just need a bit of help figuring this one out. I installed ImageMagick the first time using yum, then I used an alternative method. It's installed properly the second time and almost does what I want except that when I type 'convert' in the prompt it gives me '-bash: /usr/bin/convert: No such file or directory'
The actual location of convert is /usr/local/bin/convert How do I change it so the convert command is pointing to the right executable?
