Have a problem to decrypt emails after I updated to 5.3. Didn't change anything to the pgp or Kpgp settings and Kmail says that it failed decryption with openpgp. As I don't know what to look for or what to check I am lost.. it encrypts outgoing messages just fine.
View 1 RepliesI am running 10.10 on a 21.5 inch imac. I just ran some updates and rebooted, turned on rhythmbox to play some tunes and realized there is no sound. Tried ....., no yield. Tried a different user account still no sound. SO I rebooted into osx and I have sound. Its therefore a software issue for sure. I plugged in headphones and changed to the appropriate output in the settings manager, sound came out, but out of phase. What going on here? any ideas would be awesome.

Here is the error I get when I try to run update manager: "Could not initialize the package information An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information.
Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:'E:Type 'banshee-team/ppa/ubuntu' is not known on line 1 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/banshee-team-ppa-natty.list'The command I entered was sudo add-apt-repository ppa:banshee-team/ppa. I have tried to remove all banshee related checks in software sources of the ubuntu software center. Then I just removed the lines all together. I still cannot open update manger. Get the same error. Anyone know of a fix?
I think an update or something has killed Samba on my Karmic box. it can see Windows shares OK, but it no longer appears on the Windows network.I have not changed my smb.conf for months, so something else has been modified.Looking in the logs I can see the following in "log.winbindd-idmap" after restarting Samba

All other networking seems fine (internet, Synergy+ etc) it's just sharing out to the Windows network that is broken.
Since my latest update to Ubuntu Lucid, VLC is no longer working. When starting VLC, I get an impractical dark interface that doesn't response to any command.

It looks like a Qt4 problem, I have installed Qt4 with all possible dependencies, re-installed vlc several times but no effect! cvlc as proposed doesn't react.
recently installed 10.04 on his hp pavilion laptop and we got everything working fine, including the wireless internet. When he installed some recommended software updates his card is no longer being detected although wired networking is still fine.

After the update to 4.5.5 all the kmail templates was replaced with %BLANK. Which means no more quotes, signatures etc. This is for karmic-backports
Probably some post-scripts which didn't work
I am running opensuse11.4. When trying to forward emails I can only do so as attachment. When I click and hold to select the forward inline option I get an empty email - same as if I would have clicked new. The same happens when I place the inline button on to the toolbar. Is this a bug with Kmail or is there another setting to forward mail inline?

I have recently installed Squeeze, and am having problems with the address book in Kmail. When I compose an email and choose select for the recipient it only gives me a list of recent addresses to choose from; the rest aren't shown. In the address book the list of addresses are shown. I'm trying to organize them, but don't see a way to do that. Is this a bug or am I missing something? ON Lenny I would right click and it would give me categories to choose from such as: work, friends, etc. When I imported my contacts from Kmail in Lenny I used: addressbook.ldif
I've Installed CentOS 5.5 on an HP Compaq DK2300 with Intel Pentium dual Core.Connected to a network with HTTP Proxy at cmsbs1 port 8080.
via the System/Preferences/NetworkProxy, I set up the relevant info including Username and Password

Now able to connect to the internet with Mozilla Firefox. Package Updater still not receiving updates....Opened Terminal window and logged in as root: Added following to the yum.conf file:

Saved the file and re-start the system (full re-boot). Opened Terminal window and logged in as root:

After installing opensuse 11.4, the kmail program does not automatically check spelling. It worked perfectly in 11.3. Kmail is now 1.13.6. I click Settings > Spellchecker, and it has checked automatic spell checking enabled by default. I click on ok, and the spell checker starts working for a little while. If I click Tools > Spelling it brings up the spell checker box, and that works perfectly. But then, when it's finished, the automatic spell checking is turned off again? There are times when even Settings > Spellchecker will not turn on automatic checking. I haven't figured out yet what triggers the complete failure. What can I do to make it do automatic spell checking when composer starts, without having to remember to click anything? And so that it stays on always?

both are not working. I have to run the system using: 2.6.18-128.1.14.el5. Upon trying again #yum update it says that no packages are marked for update. Can I manually install the desired kernel? Do you know a reason why yum update is not automatically installing the proper kernel?
I have openssh running it was working last week then an update was done and now ssh does not work. removed the updates and the problem still exists.
Its CentOS 5.5 with all the latest updates for 64 bit!

I have been using kmail on opensuse (11.2) for about 3 months with few issues. I usually launch using alt+F2, type "kma" and it appears top of the list. I have turned on my laptop today and kmail has simply disappeared. I have gone through the ghekko and the only mail client listed is thunderbird. It is not in the alt+F2 menu. If I type kmail in konsole I get the "if kmail is not a typo" speech. I've also tried using kontact (for the first time) to see if my mail appears there

I am running Wheezy 7.9 32 bit, with the kernel Linux 3.2.0-4-686-pae, and Gnome 3.4.2 on an Intel Pentium CPU G3420 @ 3.2 GHz. I installed a new printer in August, an HP Officejet 7612 all-in-one printer/scanner/copier, and it worked perfectly as both a printer and a scanner first time, despite not being listed on the supported list in SANE. Two weeks ago, I got a general software update notification, and did the update. Now the scanner is not recognised. The printer still works fine as a printer, but when using Simple-scan, I get the error message "No scanners detected. Please check your scanner is connected and powered on". I have had a look round on Google, and all the suggestions made do not work.
I tried the suggestion to add myself to the scanner users list on my PC which made no difference (even though the scanner previously worked without my being added to the scanner users list).
I have deleted the printer and re-installed it using CUPS, but that still has no effect. I tried re-installing HPLIP also to no avail, and I have now lost the toolbox on the drop down menu under <Applications> <Accessories> <HP Toolbox>, as when I click on it, nothing happens.
It would seem that something in the update has messed up Simple-scan. Looking at the dpkg log (is this the right thing to look at?) for the date of the update, I cannot find anything which directly involved SANE, so I think that it might be something else which has affected SANE. How I can find out which update did the damage? I don't normally do anything except accept recommended updates, so I am a bit lost as to what to do.
I ran an update yesterday ( like i do most days ) and now my dual screen doesnt work and when i load the nvidia conrol panel it says to run a command as root ( summat liek nivida-xorg ) it then does something tomy xorg that then completely breaks it.
I havent made any changes other than the update.
How do i get nvidia installed properly again?

since the last SuSE online update (last Wednesday?) the X server no longer starts on our notebook (ATI HD 4200) so we only have the consoles available, which limits the WAF heavily . We were using SuSE 11.3 with the Gnome desktop for about one months and it worked smoothly, but since the update (which included a kernel update to 2.6.34.7-0.7) the X server tries to start 5 times and then gives up. I used the ati driver ati-fglrxG02-kmp-desktop, version 8.762_k2.6.34.0_12-31.1 from the ATI Suse repository. To solve the problem I already switched to the Xorg driver which lead to a color distorted display but no segmentation fault. But I'd like to get the ati driver running again.
after upgrading 11.3 to 11.4 with zypper dup my logical volumes are no longer accessible The YAST Partitioner recognize them as Linux Raid but I could not mount them.

I am having a problem with the latest update of lucid ubuntu. I was on 10.04 for the longest time but decided to update while I was out doing errands. When I got back the logon screen was made up of blue and gray windows on a completely black background and the mouse and keyboard wouldn't work!
I found that if I unplugged and then replugged my mouse that I could get it working, but not all the options work properly. When you try to close a menu it just stays up, but it isn't there at the same time. Also, the shutdown/restart options don't work along with the physical power button on my computer, I have to remove the battery and power cord to shut it down.
I am currently dual booting ubuntu and windows 7 on my gateway NV59 laptop.
I have a pc at work with 9.04 on it and when I try to use the update manager it says that it is no longer supported. how do i upgrade to the newest version?

And it seems that it doesn't work with the new 275 build I got pushed when updating. Updating virtualbox didn't help. Besides uninstalling the 275 version of nvidia and installing the 270.

View 4 Replies View Related10.04 was connecting to wireless on boot up without a problem.After updating, it can no longer do it. I have to click on the wireless icon (which has an exclamation mark through it) and connect to hidden. I can then choose my wireless profile and am asked for my elevated privileges password. Once supplied, the connection is made.I presume the encryption password is 'locked' now at boot.

This may be caused by network problems or by a repository that is no longer available. Please update manually by clicking on this icon and then selecting 'Check for Updates'and check if some of the repositories fail." I had clicked this button a few times. The first time it installed a kernel update. The next couple times I don't think it did anything but check for updates.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I recently fresh installed Ubuntu 10.10, and after a few hiccups I got everything running fine, including the desktop effects with Compiz. So anyways, after a couple days of everything working fine, I ran an update, and rebooted. When Ubuntu booted back up and I logged in, all the effects were off. I opened up Compiz and all the boxes were unchecked.So I went to the appearance settings, tried to enable the "Extra" visual effects, and then the "Searching for drivers" box popped up. It ran for a little bit and then closed and said "desktop effects could not be enabled". So I checked the restricted drivers thing and the ATI proprietary driver is enabled and in use.
But whenever I try to enable the effects the screen just flickers, the window borders flicker for a second, and then the window pops up saying the desktop effects couldn't be enabled. The searching for drivers window only pops up like half the time.My video card is an ATI Radeon HD 3870, and I've tried reinstalling the drivers for it.Also, whenever I run compiz my window borders disappear entirely and don't pop up again until I try to enable desktop effects in the appearance settings. I've lurked the forums a bit, and I haven't been able to find anything that has fixed my problem.
Immediately after the update of Firefox I can no longer send a link.Previous to the update, I would simply click file, then send link. Now nothing happens.My present version of Firefox is Namoroka
