View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two devices (a usb modem and a camera) permanently hard-wired into my system. When linux boots, it automatically inserts their drivers. However, I would like this to be under my control to insert as and when needed. Can anyone give any pointers as to how I might disable auto-insertion, whilst still allowing manual insertion via insmod or modprobe? I understand the usual method would be to use modules.conf, however in my modules.conf file, there is no entries at all.

View 2 Replies View RelatedTo make my problem simple to understand I've attached a picture. Basically, in the Webmin>Apache configuration page, where I used to also enable/disable the modules Apache was using (on Ubuntu 8.04) I've noticed now that the option to configure the modules is no more (on Centos 5). So, I'd like to disable and enable some modules but can't, like the mod_python for example which gives me hundreds of errors in the Apache's logs, but cannot.
how to view the Apache modules again in Webmin?
just noticed can't attach images... here's the link to the picture: [URL]

I haven't been able to get a working X11 environment on a Dell PowerEdge 1850. Using YaST without an X11 environment sucks particularly when you are trying to configure Apache. In addition, the Apache configuration files seem to have changed significantly since the last time I configured Apache on a SuSE Linux distribution. Where can I find good documentation on editing suseconfig files to ensure that I get the modules installed that I need for the collaboration tool that I'm installing?
View 2 Replies View Relatedthis might not be a Centos related issue, but since I'm using Centos I guess it doesn't hurt to ask; I've used Ubuntu before and haven't encountered this. So, I've just installed Centos and Webmin and now I'm trying to configure the server. Problem is that on the Apache configuration page I don't have the option (should be there) to configure the Apache modules. I've attached a file to show where the modules option should (as before) appeared.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to load my pcmcia network card driver "xirc2ps_cs" at startup with no success. I have added "modprobe xirc2ps_cs" to the rc.modules file but it doesn't load at startup. Curiously, though, if I execute rc.modules AFTER the machine has booted it will load the modules just fine. Just not during the boot up process. Thinking that hotstart might have been causing problems I've disabled hotstart (chmod -x) temporarilly to remove it from the picture, but there was no change.

CentOS and RHEL even though I've been using various Debian/Ubuntu Distros for quite some time. However, I always used to install perl modules via apt-get or, if that did not work, via cpan.In CentOS, I tried installing a couple of perl modules via yum but there are only a very few available. When trying to install perl modules via cpan, the install process usually fails during the make process.I'd prefer to install those modules via the distribution's package manger yum as it's easier to resolve dependencies. Are there any repositories I should add to have more perl packages available? (Where to add further repositories, I just know /etc/apt/sources.list in debian based distros)The other option still would be to install perl modules via cpan. For instance, when trying to cpan install Geo::IP, the output is as follows:
CPAN: Storable loaded ok
Going to read /root/.cpan/Metadata

I need a work a round to do the following: I have Apache installed from source in the default location /usr/local/apache2. View 3 Replies View RelatedI am relatively new to linux and am running into a problem. I just got a new laptop and need to configure/install it's wireless driver but am getting an error when running "make". The error is: make[1]: Entering directory `/lib/modules/2.6.37.1-1.2-desktop/build' make[1]: *** No rule to make target `modules'. Stop.
I have scoured these forums and know that others have the same issue (when configuring other drivers/programs). I am sorry if this post is redundant. It sounds like the Makefile is pointing to the wrong directory. I am using opensuse 11.4, have make and gcc installed. My kernel is linux-2.6.37.1-1.2 (I just re-installed the desktop kernel to make sure it was up to date). The driver I am trying to install is located here: AUR (en) - rtl8192ce.
Another forum suggests pointing somewhere in the /usr/src/linux-2.6.37.1-1.2 directory instead. Is this correct? Should I be pointing to a folder within this? I am not a programmer but any description about what I am actually putting in this directory and why would be awesome (so I can learn a bit more). Or just helping me solve the problem would be great too.
