Programming :: Installing The Perl Third Party Package
Aug 12, 2010
am creating a perl third party package and using in my other program. If i install the package with standard 4 commands ie.,
1)perl Makefile.PL
2)make
3)make test
4)make install
package has not installed properly. If i try to copy the package to the threads generated by perl -V command, then am able to get install the package, but i want to install the package by the standard 4 commands. I am using 36 bits OS , perl version is v5.8.5 and OS am using is "Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 6)".
I recently reinstalled the B module for perl. Now I found out it didn't just do that, it installed a whole new copy of perl into /usr/local/bin/perl. When I type 'which perl' at the terminal, it says '/usr/local/bin/perl' instead of '/usr/bin/perl'. Normally, this wouldn't bother me. But I installed the one in local/bin without threading support. The one that comes with the system already is build with threading support, which is why I want to switch back to the system perl, and possibly remove the one in /usr/local/bin.
So how do I change it so that the result of 'which perl' returns as '/usr/bin/perl'? And what do I have to do to remove /usr/local/bin/perl?
The reason I need threading support is because I'm designing a file copier that copies several chunks of a file simultaneously to speed up the copying process. Guaranteed a useful script if it works.
I'm trying to install a third party development package for the TI DM355 platform. The build script for this tests for the mono package which must have been available in a previous release of Ubuntu but has been deprecated in version 10. Which package provides mono support and how can I touch the package database to make it look like mono is installed so the ./configure script will be happy?
I need to install the following dependencies for synspam on Ubuntu 9.10 karmic server:
Code: sudo aptitude install nfqueue-bindings-perl libsys-syslog-perl libappconfig-perl libnetpacket-perl libnetaddr-ip-perl dpkg -i synspam_version_all.deb Of these, only libnetpacket-perl is not packaged for Ubuntu 9.10 karmic.
Is this functionality present in another 9.10 package with a different name? 10.04 Lucid does have the package: [URL]
I built an RPM, which will copy set of files, executes scripts and install's third party rpms. but the thirdparty rpm's are not getting installed and throws the below warning warning: cannot get shared lock on /var/lib/rpm/Packages From my analysis, i understood that the primary rpm holds a lock and its unable to install the rpms packaged inside.
I've used yum (and rpm) for some time now, and have finally run into one of those dependency problem. I am trying to install git (among other programs), and I have reach an empass. Nothing I've tried has worked, and I just know there is a simple solution to this that I just don't know. It all started by skipping a dependency in the past (don't remember the package). I figured there would be something to clean that up, so I just continued.
Here is my output: Code: # yum install git Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit, security Adding en_US to language list Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile Excluding mirror: ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de Excluding mirror: wftp.tu-chemnitz.de * livna: rpm.livna.org * rpmfusion-free: mirror.hiwaay.net ..... --> Processing Dependency: perl(Error) for package: perl-Git-1.7.3.3-1.fc14.noarch --> Finished Dependency Resolution Error: Package: perl-Git-1.7.3.3-1.fc14.noarch (updates) Requires: perl(Error) Error: Package: git-1.7.3.3-1.fc14.i686 (updates) Requires: perl(Error) You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
If I need to, I could go and download the RPM package and install it that way, but I'd like to get YUM back working properly.
I've been scratching my head on this one for a while. My level of knowledge of Linux isn't great. I know enough to be dangerous. I'm trying to get Webmin installed to give me an easier web front to Linux. I run the command to get the prereq's.
So I can see that it can't find libnet-ssleay-perl I bit of searching around leads me to the sources.list file which tells apt-get where to get the packages I think. This is as follows.
Quote:
# # deb cdrom:[Ubuntu-Server 8.04 _Hardy Heron_ - Release amd64 (20080423.2)]/ hardy main restricted #deb cdrom:[Ubuntu-Server 8.04 _Hardy Heron_ - Release amd64 (20080423.2)]/ hardy main restricted
I have a problem when installing this package through synaptic package manager. this is :
libpng12-dev the error is: W: Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/po...tu2.1_i386.deb 404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.92.167 80] my distribution is ubuntu 10.4.
I'm trying to install Dell Openmanage, which requires sblim-sfcb.Normally this wouldn't be a problem but it requires LWP::UserAgent to be installed. However there are no RPMs for LWP::UserAgent. There are RPMs for perl-libwww-perl-5.805-1.1.1.noarch.rpm, which people say should work. However yum doesn't see anything with libwww as an option so that won't work either.Running CentOS 5.5
Note: I do have LWP::UserAgent installed via cpan, however the RPM won't compile without the actual LWP::UserAgent RPM installed.
I want to connect to MySQL Database installed on RHEL 5 using perl v 5.8.8.The available DBD perl drivers installed on my machine are:DBM, ExampleP, File, Pg, Proxy, Sponge..I downloaded DBD-mysql-2.1012 and tried installing DBD again but got the following error:Can't exec "mysql_config": No such file or directory at Makefile.PL line 167.readline() on closed filehandle PIPE at Makefile.PL line 169.On searching I found that I need to install libz-devel prior to installing driver for MySQL for Perl.
I have a permission to use several CentOS5 computers that are connected to a server where all shared programs sit. Accordingly, all Perl users for example have an identical path to Perl (e.g. /export/user/bin). The administrator suggested I'll install all the programs I need (specifically Perl and Mysql) in my personal space, and then add them to the path before the already installed ones. Accordingly, I could add/change modules without "sudo" privileges, and without changing the global setting.
CentOS and RHEL even though I've been using various Debian/Ubuntu Distros for quite some time. However, I always used to install perl modules via apt-get or, if that did not work, via cpan.In CentOS, I tried installing a couple of perl modules via yum but there are only a very few available. When trying to install perl modules via cpan, the install process usually fails during the make process.I'd prefer to install those modules via the distribution's package manger yum as it's easier to resolve dependencies. Are there any repositories I should add to have more perl packages available? (Where to add further repositories, I just know /etc/apt/sources.list in debian based distros)The other option still would be to install perl modules via cpan. For instance, when trying to cpan install Geo::IP, the output is as follows:
CPAN: Storable loaded ok Going to read /root/.cpan/Metadata Database was generated on Wed, 02 Mar 2011 02:42:03 GMT
I'm attempting to set up a GIMP scripts for batch operations on groups of image files. Initially I started reading about the Script-Fu syntax but it looked too convoluted (at least for me, with 15 years of Perl experience at work) in a way it does the simpliest of things so I attempted to use Perl instead of Script-Fu. From reading the docs I see that I need to install "Gimp::Fu" Perl module. I installed "cpan" first, started it and issued the command:
install "Gimp::Fu"
and got a dependency problem:
Code:
cpan[1]> install "Gimp::Fu" CPAN: Storable loaded ok (v2.18) Going to read /root/.cpan/Metadata Database was generated on Thu, 28 Oct 2010 17:30:45 GMT
Here is my problem:I work with the BioPerl project. At first, I installed cpan modules without any problem,(eg.) sudo cpan -i CPAN::ModuleI've a proxy connection (university) and I'd configured my proxy settings correctly: perl -MCPAN -eshellIn the beginning it worked, but I don't know why it doens't work today. Here is the outline:
fernando@fer-laptop[fernando] sudo cpan -i Algorithm::Cluster CPAN: Storable loaded ok (v2.15) Going to read '/home/fernando/.cpan/Metadata'
I just downloaded Tk-804.028 and try to install it (according to the README.linux) but I get:
> perl Makefile.PL /opt/ActivePerl-5.10/bin/perl-static is installed in /opt/ActivePerl-5.10/lib okay PPM for perl5.010001 Test Compiling config/perlrx.c Test Compiling config/pmop.c Test Compiling config/pregcomp2.c
I really would like Perl Qt4 bindings. The best I could find is this:[URL]The problem is that the sources would not compile, and the RPMs are for 32-bit machines. Is there really no such thing as good Perl Qt4 bindings?
I am a newbie on linux and just searching everything about perl scripting and modules nearly 3-4 days. I need a perl script but one of not easy to find on searching google. Okay now I need a perl script which create or recreate (edit) id3 tags (artist, comment, album, year, cover) of mp3 files stored on my linux centos server. I installed MP3::Tag version 1.13 pearl module to my server. I Searched tutorials about how to use it, finally I get through reading id3 tag of mp3 file but not achieve to modify it or create a new id3tag.
These are the details: I have a mp3 file called 1.mp3 this script will process that '1.mp3' file read its id3tag if there is one, than modify or create id3tag for it by my fix artist name for example: '1.mp3' files id3 tag details are like this Artist: Dj xx Year:2010 Title:yyyyy Comment:eerwer Cover: x.jpg
Now via this perl script which uses MP3::TAG I will change it's artist as YYY Title:ttt Comment:cool Cover:t.jpg these are gonna be my fixed values. I mean all '1.mp3' file will have same artist based on script value.
The reason of this script is I will share Dj podcasts on my server and Dj's would have upload their mp3's which has got different id3 tags and cover pics. etc. I want to create more organized podcasts of them by the way I would trigger this perl script via Cronjob.
I'm building a certain RPM package that must require an old version of that same package in order to be installed/upgraded. Is this possible?
For example:
For a package foo v5, somewhere in the spec file: "Requires: foo >= 4"
I'm declaring this on the Requires tag of the spec file, but when I try to install or upgrade the package (without having the previous required version installed) I get no dependency error! As for other dependencies it all works fine. If, instead, I create a package named "bar" that "Requires: foo >= 4", when installing I do get the expected dependency error. I'm thinking it's not possible to require an old version of the same package.
As some of you know that I am new to this forum. I have another problem that I got stuck on. I have this file called "Fib.rbb" and my instructor told us to write an interpreter program by using Fib.rbb.
"You are to write an interpreter in Perl for Rongs Basic Basic (RBB) as explained in class. The BNF description for RBB and a test file called Fib.rbb are part of the RBB.zip file which is available in the Course Documents folder on blackboard. If you call your interpreter myIntp.pl, you would execute the program via perl myIntp.pl Fib.rbb
Im somewhat new at perl and was wondering if there was a way to run a perl script or tool made from perl, from a USB pen that would work both on Linux and on Windows?
