i have a server with 4 x 1 TB SATA II storages. My Raid-configuration consists of 2 Raidset with 2 Raid 1. My Raidcontroller is a LSI-Megaraid. After the installation of Centos 5.4 occurs the following errors:
Found duplicate PV 3auCs5BBXMHt9XRRdaqeY2juPEYMTqM5: using /dev/sdb2 not /dev/sda2 Found duplicate PV AkV8N3myHRgIl2bODWZ5ZSPHx0H6uHPL: using /dev/sdd1 not /dev/sdc1 I bound the storages in the LVM. How can i fix this error?
I just successfully installed ubuntu 10.10 Meerkat Maverik parallel to manufacturer installed Windows 7 Professional on a newly bought ThinkPad t410. All works find just that on the boot screen instead of 1 Windows partition (usually something like "Windows 7 loader on sda1") I find two Windows partitions. Now, I know that Thinkpads have a recovery partition. Funny is though that both "Windows 7 loader on sda1/2" login to what seems the identical Windows (not one of them the "normal" and the other some form of a recovery).
Trying to complete a RAID 1 mirror on a running system and have run into a wall at the last part. I can't add the active physical disk to the mirror. This is on a Centos 5.6 x86_64 system. Anybody know where to go from here? I've tried adding the nodmraid line to the kernel boot line with no luck. Tried removing the logical volumes from LVM, but it won't let me. Not a Linux newbie, but haven't set up a RAID in a long time.

I recently built a cluster with Centos 5.3 and nodes that used different versions of the w83627ehf sensors chip. On some nodes sensors-detect detected the chip:
Found `Winbond W83627DHG Super IO Sensors' Success!(address 0x290, driver `w83627ehf')
But starting lm_sensors returned the error: Starting lm_sensors: No sensors found!
On other nodes sensors-detect did not detect the chip at all: Found unknown chip with ID 0xb073(logical device B has address 0x290, could be sensors)
I have just done a reinstall of Centos 5.3 on a dedicated server (via a KVM). My partition arrangement was the default presented to me by the installer:
As you can see, I'm using LVM for everything other than /boot (I need to use LVM for an app I am testing).
On reboot, I get the following:

It looks like it can't find vmlinuz-2.6.18-128.el5 in /boot.
I have rebooted using the Centos Install Disk 1 and gone in to rescue mode. Rescue mode mounted my / under /mnt/sysimage, from there I could see that /boot had been mounted from /dev/sda1 as it should be.
However, there was no initrd.image or /vmlinuz-2.6.18-128.el5 under /boot or /boot/grub. Shouldn't the CentOS installer have created these?
I am quite new to centos as I am from a windows back ground and trying to change over. I am trying to install Asterisk on a dell quadcore server running centos. I need to install Dahdi for hardware support but when I try to install it I get the following error You do not appear to have the sources for the 2.6.18-164.6.1.el5 kernel installed I don't have a clue
I am looking for gcc installation in CentOS 5.4. I cannot use yum install since not connected to internet. I tried to do sudo apt-get install build-essential but received the following error: sudo: apt-get: command not found How to install gcc in my Linix machine?

I'm basically trying to install Anjuta 3.0 and getting this error when I run ./configure
I have a problem with GPG key, when I tried to run #yum updateI have got this errorwarning:rpmts_HdrFromFdno: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID d05c057cGPG key retrieval failed: [Errno 14] HTTP eRROR 404: Not foundI used Centos 5.5.
I was having a problem on my squid server whereby 1 website would timeout daily and return a nscd not found error: [url]....There may be other sites but this is the only one I know of. A selection of other sites still work correctly, which is the strange thing.I have found that by restarting the dns cache everything works again: /etc/init.d/nscd restart.I never know quite when this will timeout so it is not very good for people accessing that site on the server.
Im trying to install CACTI EZ on a HP Proliant Blade 460c G6. But im having problem with detecting the hard disk. CACTI EZ installation has the drivers for this and loads the driver itself. But when it now detects for the drive, it has the error "Drive not Found".Do you have bootable CD (iso image) that can load the drivers for Cent OS 5 for HP Proliant Blade 460c G6 server.
Tearing my hair out on this one a little bit, having problems sending message from web based PHP form to user inbox.I keep getting: Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender<me@mydomain.co.uk>: Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=mydomain.co.uk type=A: Host not found.Running these commands:

I have 2 network cards eth0 and eth1, for eth0 i set a manual MACADDR in network scripts. Ok so every time i boot, if the cable is plugged in, my eth0 fails to mount or i don't know.. i get this after bood when i type ifoncifg eth0 (eth0: error fetching interface information:Device not found). So i have to unplug the cable when i boot, then plug it in and do a service network restart.
I have a weird problem with one of my servers (normal PC hardware). I was connected remotely using Putty, doing some stuff, and all of the sudden some commands, like "ls" stopped working, giving a "file or command not found" type of message. I restarted the ssh session, only to find out I couldn't log on any more (access denied). When I got home and rebooted the system, I was greeted with this:Booting 'CentOS (2.6.18-194.el5xen)'root (hd0,0)Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83kernel /boot/xen.gz-2.6. 18-194.el5Error 15: File not foundPress any key to continue...Then I searched about this, found out that the files in /boot/grub/menu.lst did not exist at the specified location (/boot/xen.gz-2.6. 18-194.el5). Somehow I managed to find them in another place, copied them in place, and now I get:Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format
I have a clean install of LinuxMint 10 on sda1. Using Gparted, I formatted sdb2 as ext4. I want to rip all of my cd's and store all of my music as Mp3's on sdb2. I can't figure out how to do it.
I'm sometimes getting a 'duplicate source' error when I update, but not always. Sometimes it's just fine, without me having changed anything significant. To be honest I don't really understand what's going on.
Here's my sources.list : deb [URL] testing main deb-src [URL] testing main deb [URL] testing main contrib deb-src [URL] testing main contrib deb [URL] testing main non-free deb-src [URL] testing main non-free .....
Whats with the duplicate sources referring to /var/lib...? I've never touched that directory. Ever. And why are there three 'duplicates' of testing/main when clearly I only have two in sources.list? I'm confused. Is my sources.list set up properly? Usually, running another update immediately after the first one cleans up the errors, but this keeps coming back every few days.
My server is really slow. When I did a top -c or ps aux, below shows up. Shouldn't there be only one? Shall I kill all those processes and leave only one?
I installed Nautilus-actions, in order to set up some right-click scripts. However, when I click on "nautilus actions configurations" from within the system preferences menu, I receive the following error... "Duplicate object id 'label1' on line 1000 (previously on line 940)".
I already have Xbuntu installed on /dev/sda1/ but i would like to install Windows 7 now on /dev/sdb2. My goal is to manually set boot priority in my BIOS to boot from either one. So my question is, by installing Windows 7 on sdb2 will I still be able to boot from sda1 if I select it as primary boot drive in BIOS, or will it still wipe my MBR and Grub2 on sda1?
Before doing a clonezilla project I opened Disk utility shows the first partition labeled as sdb2, then second partition as sdb1is this normal? I will add that this is a windows drive, but I wanted to back it up before installing debian to it. How will the disk partition labeling affect partition naming in debian?
I have just clone from my previous IDE hard disk to a bigger IDE hard disk with clonezilla. However, when I boot my system with the new hard disk using the installation disk, it says an error that "no linux partition found on hard disk".
I am attempting to install CentOS 5 on a Dell poweredge 6400. The drives are configure for Raid 5 with about 67 gigs of space on the server. When I select any option under Partitioning of your hard drive, it gives me an error. " No Drives found - An error has occured - no valid devices were found on which to create new file systems. Please check your hardware for the cause of this problem."
