This error comes from the update manager, but I can not see duplicate entries in the software sources. Is there a program that removes duplicate sources? If not how do I find the duplicate entries. When I run "sudo apt-get update", it says the following: "W: Duplicate sources.list entry [URL] Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/archive.canonical.com_ubuntu_dists_lucid_partner_b inary-i386_Packages) W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems"

When I exit from Synaptic I get a list of duplicate sources. Is there a program that remove them? Often I can not spot the duplicates in the software sources window.
I've got the following problem: I just noticed that there were just very few notifications about updating the system (usually there are damn many of them in a week) So I opened the update manager and clicked on "refresh list". The following result popped up: p,li{white-space:pre-wrap;}E: Error http://ppa.launchpad.net natty/main/Sources Sources 404 Not Found First I thought, it would be just some kind of server problem, but it didn't stop. The next thing was to research the thread and I even found something. However, the solution suggested didn't work at all. (Things, which might have caused this: I installed the default software center |I'm using Kubuntu, but in this case that fact doesn't matter| and used it. To sum up:
- not able to update the system referring to the launchpad main sources for 11.04 - following error: E: Error http://ppa.launchpad.net natty/main/Sources Sources 404 Not Found It would be great if this was a common issue and I've been simply too stupid to find a proper solution. So you could just post the link.
I'm trying to migrate a physical server to virtual hardware. The old server runs RHEL 4 with MySQL version 4.1.12. The new server runs Ubuntu 10.04 with MySQL 5.1.41.
In order to export all the MySQL databases from the old server to the new server, I ran the following command on the old server:
Code:
I then attempted to import them on the new server with:
Code:
The command successfully imports about half the databases, but then fails when it gets to a particular table in a database for one of our custom web applications. The error message is:
Code:
I've located that line in the dump.sql file, and as far as I can tell it's not actually a duplicate entry. I've also gone through dozens of bug reports and forum posts about an issue where this situation arises because a key is not set to auto-increment, but in this case the key is set to auto-increment.
I have Ubuntu 8.04 Desktop Edition running on my PC. I've had it for some time and it worked great, however recently when I tried to run Update Manager I started to get the following error message:

I am running Jolicloud on my netbook (which I believe is an Ubuntu derivative) and I am tried to enter the getdeb.net sources in so I can install apps from the website through APT but
1) When I entered the sources into sources.list and then the key into Terminal and then went to the site and tried to install an app it didn't work.
2) I deleted the line of code in the sources.list file and when I opened terminal and entered "sudo apt-get update" it showed the list of sources, but on the list were Getdeb.net sources.
My question is how do I delete sources that aren't in /etc/apt/sources.list ?
I am getting virtual-box repository download error as given below:
Code: Failed to fetch http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian/dists/maverick/Release Unable to find expected entry non-free/source/Sources in Meta-index file (malformed Release file?) Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead. Repository: deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian marverick non-free
I am installing a hp officejet pro 8500 all in one printer to knoppix 6.0.1. install hangs saying i need to disable cd sources in etc/apt/source.list. How do i do this?
I tried to change the basic toolbar to cairo dock,a tutorial that i found told me to write in terminal gksu gedit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/winehq.listso i write it and a window opened,i couled not find the text that told me(the tutorial i mean)so i closed the window, after that i keep taiking the same error
E: Type sudo is not known on line 55 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list E: The list of sources could not be read. Go to the repository dialogue to correct the problem. E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
now whene i got in the winehq.list the text has gone and i take this error in update manager,my software center doesn't work and my terminal whenever i type sudo commands says
E: Type sudo is not known on line 55 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list
There is a problem with my source list (apparently) I'm running 11.04 if that helps. When I try to use apt-get install update for example, I get: "Malformed line 59 in source list etc/apt/sources.list"The same error occurs when trying to access synaptic package manager, it tells me there is a malformed line and the list of sources cannot be read. This error prevents me from apt-getting anything, updating and i suspect it is affecting the software center too.
When I try to add software sources (specifically those for Scratchbox, but I get the same error with everything), I get an error message: "http://http not found". Obviously that is not a valid APT line and I have no idea what it is doing in my software sources. How do I take it out?
When I want to update with synaptic I get this error:Ophalen van ts/Release is mislukt Unable to find expected entry 'iceweasel-5.0/source/Sources' in Release file (Wrong sources.list entry or malformed file)Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
I played a bit with the upgrade configuration files, to solve a couple of problems I have with Ubuntu 10.04, now when the upgrade procedure starts I getQuote:Failed to fetch Release Unable to find expected entry multiversdeb/source/Sources in Meta-index file (malformed Release file?)Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
I am new to the world of linux and when attempting to verify a tar archive I am displayed the following error. When running the command tar cvfW archivename.tar filename directoryname does not yield any errors.
I only started using it about two weeks ago now though I've had fun this morning I tried to update with update manager but I got this message: Could not initialize the package information An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information. Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message: 'E:Type 'main' is not known on line 2 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list, E:The list of sources could not be read.'
I have installed and uninstalled Ubuntu four times now due to various errors. Right now I am getting error messages anytime I try to use the update or package manager and I get the same message from both:
E: Malformed line 54 in source list/etc/apt/sources.list (URI parse) E: The list of sources could not be read. Go to the repository dialog to correct the problem. E:_cache->open () failed, please report.
