I've had previous versions of Clam running and have kept the system uptodate with regular yum updates.
this recently upgraded ClamAV and this will not now start. code...
From googling all i seem to find that it's a make error, but this is a binary install!
I've removed and reinstalled also.
I am running Zimbra 5.0.2 with ClamAV and I need to upgrade clam anti virus. It's for a Centos 5.4, Dell PE 2950 machine. On their Wiki for upgrades at [URL]. They recommended either of the Red hat versions - Redhat 5.x 32-bit or the Redhat 5.x 64-bit. Are there any known problems using either of these two versions on my Centos machine? Also, want to make sure, I am assuming I need the 32 bit version, is this correct? I am asking because in the past I have learned sometimes it's better to not go with the RH versions on Centos, can't remember where I heard that, so I want to make sure before I do the install.

Is there a better way to create RPMs? or Where do I get RPM for this version? I couldn't find it through their site.
After I did a safe-upgrade on my lenny system, clamav is now broken, which is quite a pain since my e-mail flow is now failing.

I have volatile in the list, and clamav is also installed from volatiel of what I can see, so what went wrong? Is the package broken?

what a horrendous piece of software. Ive been at it 3 days trying to do something that ought to be simple and everytime i solve one problem another problem arises. at first I removed the old clamav 9.5 or something. I got the latest ubuntu release btw, and Clamav used to work when i first installed it in the previous ubuntu release. anyway, it asked me to upgrade, so since synaptic doesnt have the latest, i downloaded from sourceforge. I did the whole ./configure gave me errors like need build-essentials-- which i then did, error: need zlib.dv--- I did that one too. Now two more errors that i need to fix so I can compile it.

I have UBUNTU 11.04 desktop (with zpanel installed on it)
*zpanel an open source web hosting panel for windows and NOW LINUX (zpanel has just been release on UBUNTU ONLY ).
My Windows Installation is infected even with Eset installed! I don't know how to clean it. Already tried safe mode scan, but that doesn't even clean it. The only reason I installed ubuntu was so that I could download infected files without any conserns of my windows parition being infected. When ever I download a file, I move it to the NTFS partition from where windows can access it. But just about a week ago when I booted into Windows, my whole drive was infected, not only windows installed partition but also all my NTFS partition. Can anyone please tell me how can I CLEAN the files rather than qurantine all the files which CLAMAV does!
Also, what steps should I take in advance before downloading a virus infected file? I know the virus could've have gotten in when I disable eset for some software installation but it should clean after boot or after being booted.But there should be a way to clean all my NTFS partition .... how? I don't know how to used CLAMAV properly because whenever I try to scan anything, it always returns with '0 files scan' because I think the directory scan doesn't work the way it should!
I just installed CentO.S 5.3 from CDroms using a kickstart file. The kickstart file was created a few days before, installing CentOS 5.1 from DVD. With the 5.1 setup (different hardware) I had no problem upgrading the system to 5.4 but for some reason I can't get it to work on this 5.3 system. It just stops when when it's determining fastes mirrors. (see screenshot)

I'm having a little trouble with ClamAV. Everytime someone sends me an email I get this error in my Webmin Mail Log. Now the mail works and it goes to the quarantine or to the user mail box but this error fills up my mail log and I'm assuming it is not using ClamAV virus definitions to scan the mail? How would I get rid of this error?
I checked in my /etc/clamd.conf and I have AllowSupplementaryGroups yes. What can be causing this error?

I'm trying to setup a Centos 5.6 Squid Proxy Server with Content Filtering & Antivirus Scanning Incoming HTTP Traffic from the Internet
I then proceeded to setup an configure the Proxy Server, i was able to test and confirm that Squid and Dansguardian Content Filter is working, however i dont know if Clamav is scanning HTTP traffic before it hits the client/server. Is there a way i can check if the Antivirus scanning is working.. is there some log file or real world test i can i can do to confirm that Clamav is scanning incoming traffic or even blocking potential viruses ??
Anyone who has squid proxy server with Clamav configured and its working can share there settings/setup with me and how they tested it ??
This started happening sometime yesterday afternoon on a server that's been trouble free for years.
My Ubuntu update is scheduled to run every month on the 5th, so this was roughly 10 days after that. So it seems to me it's not update related. The only thing I've done on the server lately is update a spamassassin rule which required an amavis restart. That was done earlier in the week.
I've already reviewed issues at [url] and all the conditions are correct for the more recent How to.
I can also confirm that, in fact, /var/run/clamav/clamd.ctl does not exist.
I have two servers complaining about ClamAV being outdated:

So I'm following the online tutorials I've found to install sketchup, and I've run into a snag right off the bat. The instructions I've found say to open the Sketchup exe file by right clicking and selecting open with Wine I do this and I get a box stating that the file is not marked as an executable. Upon boot, "Checking System Files":
Starting Firestarter firewall .... fails.
Starting samba daemons _ .... Just hangs there forever
Is there a way to get back into my system so that I can uninstall winbind, firestarter, or samba if need be?
Always when i attempt to download any software, an error message opens stating that adobe 8 cannot read it. when saved in downloads clicking open does not function and i cant find an uninstall for the adobe reader 8. I cannot get any anit-virus protection, problem compounded by having no cd input.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOkay, so bear with me for the lack of detail, its 3:46am and I'm really a beginner at this. So here is my issue: I decided I wanted to try Linux, so i got a Disc Image of Opensuse 11.3. while burning this disc image to a DVD-R I had no issues. But after the Validation was done an error appeared stating the disc Image was not burnt due to some error (apologies for not paying too close attention here) although the entire burn completed without issue. So I closed it and figured I would try again with another Disk when i get one.
Well as it turns out I did burn the Disc Image, and decided to try the Install. I have previously installed Ubuntu a few times and figured it was just as easy.. so I restarted my computer and booted from the CD. went through the Installation up to the Partition part.. This kind of confused me at first but I eventually got that it wanted to shrink my existing windows partition in order to make room. so i went along with it and began the install. well about halfway through the installation error messages kept showing telling me there were missing Packs. after about 10 messages I aborted the install for fear of what would happen now i have a shrunken partition and i dont know how to fix or what to do. I would still like to install opensuse but i dont have anymore DVD-R's and my Flash drive is too small. I will try to provide any info i can upon request. Oh, I forgot to mention im Running windows 7. if that helps at all which I doubt it does. I can safely access windows, nothing happened to the information on my drive. Im just missing 50GB of space now.
I'm trying to setup a keyboard-command to open my downloads folder. Simple enough. To get things started off I did $ gnome-open /home/user (my name where user is) and it opens my user home directory. But when I get to adding downloads to the end of it it gives me this $ gnome-open /home/user/downloads Error showing url: Error stating file '/home/User/downloads': No such file or directory As far as I can tell there is most obviously a downloads directory in my user folder. I also get this error when trying to open any other home folder, like music, or pictures.

Yesterday I updated to centos 5.3, and got kernel 2.6.18-128.1.16 and now it can't boot. It hangs trying to read sata1 with DRDY errors and exceptions.So then I installed 5.3 from a DVD onto a new drive, and got kernel 2.6.18-128. This worked, most of the time, but occasionally gave me this error. I then updated my BIOS, and the error went away.Then I updated this new working drive to the latest kernel (yum update again) and got kernel 2.6.18-128.1.16, and now it wont boot again, with the same message.
