I have a Toshiba M55-135S, that I switched from Windows XP to Ubuntu 10.04 about a month ago. Loved it, but lately it is hanging at the Toshiba splash page and won't complete the boot without turning the laptop off an on several times. tonight it won't move pass the Toshiba splash page. Hardrive is only about a year old.

Page.php -- has a special division thats empty and on Link Click calls Javascript to change inner.html to an IFRAME call So the user clicks the link and then it shows the division and loads the IFRAME The IFRAME Source is iframe.php in IFRAME.PHP I need to take the Session Variables that were set already in Page.php all sessions work fine when not using Iframe (open iframe.php in its own window) but doesnt work when its Iframed and sadly I have to use Iframe on this page NOW the CATCH is -- I CANNOT use any POST or GET Values the iframe src MUST be straight url to the page [URL] cannot use variables in the url [URL] etc..
IS it possible to do what I need Without passing variables via the url? Page1 has all session variables set, calls the iframe command when users presses a button, Iframe loads but DOES not have the Session data that was saved on Page1 -- and IFRAME cannot pass variables via the URL it must be a direct url to the page only Page1.php java used to set the HTML / IFRAME into its Div

I upgraded to 10.10, system rebooted but it is stuck at a constant loop.
I can go into safe graphics mode and things look fine except compiz isn't running. I have tried going into login and changing it to log me in automatically but the problem remains.
I've tried using my previous kernal and I have the same issue as this newer one.
I've tried loading gdm from CLI and the problem is still there.
I am a very new Linux user (newb) so I could be missing something very obvious. I have a Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4056 and recently installed Fedora 14 (64-bit GNOME) with all sorts of updates and software.
I'm working my way through all of the hardware to get it all running properly. I figured out how to get the RealTek wireless-n adapter working. The webcam is working even with Skype which is tricky on the 64-bit version.
At the moment, my touchpad doesn't work. I see a lot of articles online about the touchpad not double-tapping, but mine doesn't work at all. I've been using a mouse for all my GUI stuff.
I went to SYSTEM --> PREFERENCES --> MOUSE and selected the touchpad tab, but I can't figure out how to make it work.
I have an Acer Aspire one which runs ubuntu 10.04. Recently it has developed a problem upon loading it where the screen will not stop flickering and won't allow me to see anything, let alone try to solve the problem. I did have a good google session and found that others have had this problem before, but I couldn't find a solution that worked. I decided to install the newest version via bootable usb and originally try SysLinux but for some reason it would not work, so I have since tried other programs to create a bootable usb. My problem is that whichever software I use, whenever I boot from the usb I get the original SysLinux page and cannot move from there.
Has SysLinux somehow changed the mbr of my usb stick? I'm basically stuck and this is my only non-essential usb so I don't want to use another one.

I have a file of 200 pages. I want to move my cursor page wise. Suppose I want to move my cursor from last page of the file to up three pages.Is there any command to do it or I use "k" to move up?

Basically if a user connects to my ad-hoc network it would re-direct them to a splash page that says Welcome to xx Network and list some terms before letting them visit another page.
If I re-install Grub 2 from the live CD should that reset all the personalisations such as as splash screen and colours in the Grub splash to default? In my case they are not resetting. I would expect them to revert to the default black/white you get when initially installing the OS. the Grub timeout to be a lot less than its supposed to be? e.g. the default timeout setting of 5 seconds is more like 2 or 3 in reality, and when I set my prefered value to 2 seconds it results in being about 1/4 sec or so.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSince updating my graphics driver on ubuntu 10.10, My splash screen has been inconsistant and messed up. Sometimes ill get random command lines mixed in with the usual splash, sometimes the splash wont show and it will just be black till the desktop appears, sometimes it flashes on and off. I originally tried fixing the resolution and just made the problem worse. Then I tried installing a new splash via gnome-look.org, but it just made my shut-down splash blank and didnt effect my splash at startup. I just want the original splash that ubuntu is supposed to have.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm running 64 bit Ubuntu, and on the start-up after I pass the GRUB it goes blank for a minute then briefly shows the splash for 5-10 secs and then jumps to the login screen. Also the screen is offset by about 10-15 pixels but from the login screen onwards it is centred. (It's also like this for if I'm in recovery mode)
How do I fix this and Im wondering if it is a hardware problem?
I recently installed Ubuntu Studio and after an update the standard Plymouth splash screen began to show. I tried changing it back via the "sudo update-alternatives --config default.plymouth" method but I am getting a blue kbuntu splash screen instead of the ubuntu studio splash.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi am able to try ubuntu and everything works fine until i try to install. the menu comes up to the first page where it tells you to plug in your machine and make sure there is enough disk space and network connectivity. when i hit next on this page the mouse icon changes but the next page never loads. the longest i let it hang there was 2 hours. ive tried multiple times with the same result.

The only browser I have tried yet, Firefox, has glitches every now and then. Sometimes it shows the title of a page in a tab, but the page is blank. This can even happen when I try the Google main page. Is it true that npviewer has something to do with Adobe flash? Is there a way to fix the problem? If it is caused by Adobe flash, is there a different plugin that will replace Adobe flash player?

What is my problem? I have a page (one page - text an graphic) to print. When I sent it to my printer it prints OK. When I sent it agian, the output is totally garbled. When I sent it again (a third time) it is OK. Sent it again (4th time) it is garbled. Sent it again ... you get the picture ;-). Alternating good and bad pages.
What is my setup? I run Fedora 14 with Cups 1.4.6. The printer is a HP Deskjet 940C. It is connected to a linksys wireless print server. It is configured in CUPS to use ipp printing. The driver I use in Cups is 'CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.6 Simplified (color, 2-sided printing)'.

I don't think there is anything wrong with oray.cn . But if you need its information just visit oray.cn (Google can translate it for you). I have two applets on my Gnome panel -- NetworkManager Applet 0.8, and Klipper (it works better than Glipper) -- that I want to move.
HOWEVER, right-clicking the panel icons does not enable me to move these applets, as follows:
- NetworkManager Applet 0.8 does not include a Move item in its list of options.
- Klipper displays a long list of Klipper options but no Move option.
How I can move these items to new locations on the Gnome panel?
I want to combine 4 ps(or pdf) page to single page and for this i have try a2ps command as:
a2ps -4 1.ps 2.ps 3.ps 4.ps -o outfile.ps
Event through it divide the page into four section. But only give one output of my four input. other three section is blank. Is i am doing some wrong or Is their any other command to do so.

View 16 Replies View RelatedI have a Canoscan LiDE 30 scanner which works fine in Linux. I haven't used it in months, and never since moving from Jaunty x86_64 to Fedora 11 x86_64. This evening I suddenly need to scan two pages to send to someone via e-mail, and the recipient is desperate to receive them. Naturally, Xsane has decided this is the moment to screw me.
The problem: I cannot figure out how to tell Xsane that the page size is 8.5 11. It insists on scanning only the left side, 3.99 x 11. I cannot find a page size anywhere in any of the buttons.
In Preview I once got it to scan the entire page, but could not figure out how to save the image to file. Subsequently I have not been able to figure out how I did it. In any event, scanning from the small main window always scans 3.99 x 11. Adjusting the scan area manually in the Preview window allows me to change the size area in the small main window to 8.5 x 11, but when I then scan from the small main window it reverts to 3.99 x 11.
I have scanned the document a hundred times at least, each time trying different buttons, but nothing has succeeded in getting the full page.
I am running 9.10. I have a HP Photosmart 7350 printer. I have it installed and printing. But the issue I am dealing with is that it will print a full page and then print a blank page..then a full page..then a blank page. Actually they aren't completely blank..it shows half of "2 of 6" or whatever page it is on. Like it cuts that in half and prints the 2nd half of "2 of 6" onto a separate new page.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust got back to attempting to play with 10.04 using its Live CD. It consistently goes to the "Log In" page and not the Live CD page on running. I saw a Post specifying a F key to be pressed on boot-up to get to the desired starting point some time ago, but did not write it down. Some advice did say press Any Key but this does not seem to do the job. Tried to use the search function here but no joy. Can anyone remember which F key? Note that as a check, I tried to use 9.10 Live CD and this worked fine, so it is not a machine problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with Kubuntu 10.10. I cannot pass the login screen. When I type the password and press enter, the screen blinks once and I'm back at the login screen. When I try console login, there's no problem at all, but when I type startX, it ends up with a black screen. I wasn't configuring anything before the problem appeared, I think I just activated Kwallet.
I'm a linux noob, so I didn't really know where to look. Here are logs I found. Sry for my bad english.

Edit: I looked into a user.log, it seems there's a problem with accessing file .esd.auth. I used chmod, so the file should be accessible to everyone, but problem persists.
