I am running 9.10. I have a HP Photosmart 7350 printer. I have it installed and printing. But the issue I am dealing with is that it will print a full page and then print a blank page..then a full page..then a blank page. Actually they aren't completely blank..it shows half of "2 of 6" or whatever page it is on. Like it cuts that in half and prints the 2nd half of "2 of 6" onto a separate new page.
View 2 RepliesI cannot print pdf files. I have tried using okular and xpdf. The documents display in the program, but print preview shows a blank page. The printer then sends out blank pages. I have tried printing on 2 different printers using usb cables. Using terminal to process the commands shows error:

I initially had a problem accessing the CUPS interface (see my other post) and got that resolved by adding the user "cupsys". Now, everything "looks" ok, and when I print a test page, it shows it as completed (in CUPS). However, the page never prints.
The printer is a Canon MP600 (using the canonmp600en.ppd file to configure it). Here's the output of my conf file.

Not sure when CUPS started acting up. I have the latest 13.1 current software installed.The first page to print is always OK, but all succeeding pages are overwritten. The second page shows the first page on top of it, and the third shows the preceding pages on top of it - and so on. Has anyone else seen this problem?I guess the printer buffer is not getting flushed correctly. If my configurations were trashed in some way, I don't know where to look for a fix.

I've been copying sections and printing like that using GIMP, and I have had limited success using presentation type software, but is there a faster way of doing this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know my driver works and that cups is up and running, because I can print off test pages to my heart's content, but I can't get any actual documents printed. I'm connected over the network at work to a Japanese NEC MultiWriter 3650n (it seems to be Japanese-only---I could find on drivers was in Japanese). It shows up in System=>Administration=>Printing. I set it as the default printer, and, as I said, it prints off test pages without a hitch. But whenever I open, say, a PDF and try to print it, the document appears to get sent, but never actually prints, and never shows up in the print queue (while the completed test pages do).

I used the PPD file provided by the driver recommended in linuxprinting.org.But when I try to print the test page (or anything else), nothing is printed. According to the diagnostics, the printer status is "Processing page 1...", but it won't go beyond that.I've already tested it, it's fine. But won't work in ubuntu. Don't know what's going on.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just installed openSUSE 11.4 on my 2 home machines. My home network lies behind a nat router but I still use the external zone setting for my firewalls. In the past to enable network printing between the two computers I opened TCP and UDP port 631. Yast would then see the remote printer, set it up and all was good. This time Yast sees and sets up the remote printer as usual. When I print the test page nothing happens. Checking the cups admin page at localhost:631 on the host machine shows the printer is set up to share but nothing is in the print que. Printing works just fine on the host computer.

This is my first server and I am very new to the server world.I have an Epson Stylus NX400 connected via USB. I have managed to configure it to the point where I can see the printer listed on my client laptop and can print a test page. However, I cannot print anything else. When I access the job history through the CUPS adminI can see that the print jobs were recognized and marked as complete, even though the printer never physically engaged.

There is a window showing the print-progress info will be better when it is printting. The only browser I have tried yet, Firefox, has glitches every now and then. Sometimes it shows the title of a page in a tab, but the page is blank. This can even happen when I try the Google main page. Is it true that npviewer has something to do with Adobe flash? Is there a way to fix the problem? If it is caused by Adobe flash, is there a different plugin that will replace Adobe flash player?

If they are not used very often, they dry out, the print heads get packed up, it's an expensive mess to deal with when times comes to run off some prints. The printers are physically connected to a Windows machine to which my Ubuntu computer is networked.It would be helpful if there was a utility that could initiate a test page print job on the machines, which could be scheduled to run once a week or so. I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 a909a. It was working fine until recently. Now when I go to print duplex, the second page is mirrored vertically and rotated wrong.
I suspect that a recent update to HPLIP has caused this, but there may be something else in play with the GS utilities also. The problem is that I have no idea about how to fix this. I was hoping an update would show up and a simple "yum -y update) would fix things. That still has not happened.
I am a student and would like to save paper, at least with my draft copies, but this makes duplex printing impossible.

I am using F14 Laughlin on my laptop HP Compaq6715b AMD turion 64x2. Installation went fine, only problem is with printer LQ680 24pin series. It is not a real problem that printer want print, it just want print 10 or 15 or 20 pages from tractor bin. I get message: '/usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertoepson failed. It stopped printing after every page, send message, I have to cancel error message, then I can print again. All this is happened if I try to print one by one page from front of printer, I just have to print page with command <ctrl>P.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently installed F15 LXDE RC from the livecd and connected my USB Brother All-In-One MFC-5440cn printer. After following the Brother installation page, the Cups & LPR drivers are installed but when I'm in the cups page (http://localhost:631/admin), the printer will not print a test page or print from any application. The LCD panel on the printer does show 'receiving data' but nothing comes out. The last version of Fedora I had running was F13 and the same printer worked fine.
Are there any other printer drivers I need to install besides the Brothers? The printer does show up in the Print Manager but nothing prints. I did have this same type of issue with Mageia Beta 1 and ended up installing a2ps, which wasn't included in the original print drivers, and it is now printing. So I had to install a2ps with F15 but still no print output. Something must have changed with the recent distros causing this. After looking at the output of dmesg I see this:

Any idea why it's failing to connect to Cups or any idea how to find out? Is it possible to have too many USB devices connected? I'm using a 4 port usb hub in use and also using a usb mouse/keyboard connected.

I am running OpenSuSE 11.0 KDE 3.5.9 "release 49.1" with Kivio 1.6.3. I am using Kivio to create large flow charts (paper size is 44in x36in) and I have an HP DesignJet 800PS that is capable of printing documents this size. We handle blue prints occasionally as well as when I have large documents (size wise) to print.
Anyhow I have a table relationship drawing I have created and I need to print it out. Now I have come up with a work around (save the document as PNG, import it into OpenOffice then save as PDF and print...) but when I try to print as PDF, I get the default paper size of A4 and the option to change the paper size is ghosted in Kivio. Also I only get a small segment of the actual drawing.
Interesting problem: For the first time with Xubuntu 10.10 64bit, I am finding certain applications print corrupt. A varying amount of letters / numbers either get substituted/print a blank space/ print a box etc etc. This corruption seems to happen from a Pdf ( evince ) or Spreadheet ( Gnumeric ) Opening the same Pdf on another machine (ubuntu 10.10 32bit) prints perfectly. Opening the same .xls file on the original computer but using OOo Calc prints perfectly.
I guess I have ruled out any problems with the printer itself or the network JetDirect box. I have re-installed CUPS and evince and upgraded to the latest version of HPLIP but the problem appears unchanged.
I just installed a Brothers HL2170W printer on my desktop which is running Ubuntu 1004 I had no problem with the install and it is working. The problem is when I send a page to print it takes 5 minutes before it prints. Does anyone know if this is normal or if there is a fix. I have the printer connected with a USB cable.

View 9 Replies View Relatedone month at this stage and noticed recently that all automatic updates to my system have ceased, so I tried a zypper update from the terminal yesterday and believe it or not I got 1110 updates, about 7 deletions a 3 programs were changing architecture. This went all all day yesterday and finished sometime early this morning when I had to force a reboot as the shutdown button did nothing. After all those updates I do not notice any version upgrades for a few things I checked like Office, Amarok, DigiKAM etc but I am back to a most annoying problem that I had in my first few days i.e. my printer an Epson Stylus Color 760 is totally messing up 2nd and subsequent pages in a printout.
The last time this happened it seemed to sort itself out because deleting the printers discovered and their drivers did nothing. I am sorry to say it is putting me off SUSE 11.4 which I had liked BUT it is so frustating when I can't eben print more than one page correctly. I have come from Windows 7 where these problems did not exist.
I am having troubles with my printer.
I have to use the manual feed, as the tray jams.
When set to manual feed, it prints fine in B&W and color.
However, page 2 goes from manual to tray 1! One page at a time works great.

i am able to try ubuntu and everything works fine until i try to install. the menu comes up to the first page where it tells you to plug in your machine and make sure there is enough disk space and network connectivity. when i hit next on this page the mouse icon changes but the next page never loads. the longest i let it hang there was 2 hours. ive tried multiple times with the same result.
