Ubuntu :: Window Buttons At Wrong Place?
May 2, 2010my window buttons are at the left corner, it works but i love it more when they are in the right corner. So what i must do to change the position to the right corner?

May 9, 2010I realize that this may be a nit-picky complaint, but why did you guys move the window control buttons from the upper right corner to the upper left corner? Is there any way that I can move them back? They weren't this way in 9.10 or before, and they aren't this way on any of the computers that I work with at my job.

May 3, 2011How do I move the Window control buttons when the window is in full screen mode? I.e.: I know how to go into gconf-editor:

gconf-editor --> apps --> metacity --> general --> button layout = ":minimize,maximize,close"
(I've intentionally disabled the menu...)
What I want is my window controls to be on the right side of the window when the window is in full screen mode.
Also I've had an issue with the Unity dockbar glitching out. I can still click on the buttons (i.e. the logout button) but it displays like a nintendo game inserted crooked. Is there a way to 'restart' unity without log out/ log in?
Any one else experienced any glitches with unity auto hiding/showing?

Oct 20, 2010Here is my problem: I have a Vala program that includes classes with nested classes. When I try to initialize classes (using the variable type and the variable, followed by the class's arguments [three unsigned 8-bit integers] in parentheses) and try to compile the Vala code to C code what I tried to AVOID doing, as I really wanted to create a shared object file, but now I know I have to use C code as a middleman, the compiler tells me it expects a semicolon between the class variable name and its members.
What?! A semicolon in a bad place, that's for sure! Why would I want to put a semicolon *BETWEEN* the class initialization and its members? Isn't the whole point of a class to *HAVE* different members? Here is my class:

Nov 16, 2010I dont want the buttons at the right side, as in windows, I liked them at the left, but when I choose GTK in compiz fusion, they go to the right side as in windows, they only work at the left side using emerald, but no with GTK, someone can help me to keep the buttons at the left?, I dont know why they have changed to right side.

After that, buttons that are selected are with two white lines. One on the top, and one on the left. I don't know what is it all about, but I think it may be nvidia's problem.

May 3, 2010I upgraded to 10.04 but problems started very quickly: I can see my desktop but when I start an application, there are no window borders or buttons to close/minimize that application! They just vanished. Also, opened windows don't appear on the taskbar, so I can't switch between windows, not even with ALT + TAB. The mouse isn't an arrow anymore, but a dark cross :s
Some specifications: Dell vostro 1000, ATI Radeon IGP Xpress 1150 (128mb shared), AMD64 Turion Here is what I did during the upgrade: everything default, except for once, when it asked me what to do with menu.lst (keep the old one or replace it with the newer version) I chose "replace" (default was to keep the old one). Can that be the reason?

I have noticed that running the "compiz" command from the main manu will restore the title bars etc, and that my second user (created yesterday) does not have that problem.

Mar 23, 2011I have found a few topics that touch on the problem I'm having but the solution won't work for me.
I am running a 800x480 desktop with Gnome, many windows are cut off at the bottom and I cannot click on the buttons. The standard reply to this problem seems to be hold alt and left click drag the window up.
That works just fine, the twist here is I'm accessing the desktop through a touch-screen (via vnc on an android phone) and I don't have an alt button to hold, dragging is also kind of tough.. I realize it may just be the limitations of my device, but it can't hurt to ask!
