Ubuntu :: Chromium Window Buttons Left?
Jul 17, 2011
close buttons on the left with xfce4? I do not want to use the system boarders, I want to use the compact mode, that is the point of using chrome. I know it can be done, that is how it is in gnome with the Ambiance theme and such. I have already gotten all the other buttons on the left, but the chromium ones wont budge.

I have noticed that,in Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat, the windows have their 3 buttons[maximize(a square),close(x) and minimize(-)] at the left(like in MacOS),while in earlier Ubuntu versions(for example,8.04 Hardy Heron),these buttons are at the right(like in the Windows operating system). Why did the developers of Ubuntu do this change?

I can put them on the right using gconf-editor. But every time I change theme, it goes back to the left. It's annoying. Is there a way to fix them permanently to the right?

I just finished my fresh re-installation of Ubuntu 10.10, and all is great... no more oblem. Except~ A little while ago, I opened up configuration editor, and set the windows buttons to the left side, and set it as "mandatory". However,I changed themes quick, and then changed back, and the buttons had moved over to the right side. See image> Screenshot.pngSo, I need them back on the left, But now , whenever I try to change/edit the 'key'... I get this error message~Screenshot-1.png gahh!

How do I move the Window control buttons when the window is in full screen mode? I.e.: I know how to go into gconf-editor:
Code:
gconf-editor --> apps --> metacity --> general --> button layout = ":minimize,maximize,close"
(I've intentionally disabled the menu...)
What I want is my window controls to be on the right side of the window when the window is in full screen mode.
Also I've had an issue with the Unity dockbar glitching out. I can still click on the buttons (i.e. the logout button) but it displays like a nintendo game inserted crooked. Is there a way to 'restart' unity without log out/ log in?
Any one else experienced any glitches with unity auto hiding/showing?

Have searched net and Chromium sites for solution, but can't find anything.I am using a left panel as my primary panel with a hidden panel below. Works fine with Firefox and all system windows, but is shifted to the right so that the close button is not visible when on Chromium. When I click on the maximize button(just barely visible, the Chromium window returns to the correct size.
When moving the panel back up to the top, everything is hunky dorkey. Are there config files somewhere that need changing to accommodate the existance of the left panel?Or any other ideas for solutions. Not a life or death problem, but a bit of an irritation.

Bottom line up front: I'd like to move my window controls from the right corner to the left corner in 10.04.
All of my window controls (minimize, close, etc) are back on the right hand corner of the window, and after my upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04 they were on the left. I briefly tried E16 with gnome, didn't like it, and removed all. This caused metacity to become unconfigured, and now all of the themes have window controls on the right.
Where can I fix it so the window controls are back where the 10.04 ubuntu wanted them?

Today my minimising, maximising, and closing buttons on the window border moved from the right to the left without any apparent reason. (At least i dind't ask them to). The other computer I work on didn't change though.
I use Gnome, Dust Sand theme on 10.04.
I really dislike having them there, how can i move them back where they belong?

How do I get the close minimize maximize buttons back on the right? I looked in appearance, and all of the little previews of the themes have them on the right, but they are on the left when I apply them. Is there any way to change them back? this is very frustrating.

I'm using KDE 4 under Slackware 13.1, and I'd like to move the minimize, maximize, and close buttons to the left side of the windows titlebar. Is there any way to do this on KDE? I've looked under all the windows options, and the 'Buttons' section only contained a list that didn't seem to have what I was looking for.I've only been using KDE for a couple of weeks, so I apologize if the answer is obvious, or if moving the buttons to the left is simply not an option. Any help would be appreciated.

I am running Linux Ubuntu on a Dell Inspiron laptop that I bought at a garage sale for 50 cents. After spending quite a few hours resurrecting it, it works just fine except for the left and right mouse buttons on the touch pad. They do not function. Is there a way to emulate the left and right mouse buttons from the keyboard?(I know that I can just plug in a mouse, but I would rather just use the keyboard if possible.)

I upgraded to 10.04 but problems started very quickly: I can see my desktop but when I start an application, there are no window borders or buttons to close/minimize that application! They just vanished. Also, opened windows don't appear on the taskbar, so I can't switch between windows, not even with ALT + TAB. The mouse isn't an arrow anymore, but a dark cross :s
Some specifications: Dell vostro 1000, ATI Radeon IGP Xpress 1150 (128mb shared), AMD64 Turion Here is what I did during the upgrade: everything default, except for once, when it asked me what to do with menu.lst (keep the old one or replace it with the newer version) I chose "replace" (default was to keep the old one). Can that be the reason?

Just recently,on occassion when I log in to my main user, I don't get the Title Bars, or windows minimize, maximize, close buttons.
I have tried changing theme
I have noticed that running the "compiz" command from the main manu will restore the title bars etc, and that my second user (created yesterday) does not have that problem.
How can I diagnose what is going wrong ?
