I usually used ubuntu tweak to move the buttons to another side, but when i customized one theme, i could not change the button positions by using ubuntu tweak. So is there any other way i could change the button positions?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just finished my fresh re-installation of Ubuntu 10.10, and all is great... no more oblem. Except~ A little while ago, I opened up configuration editor, and set the windows buttons to the left side, and set it as "mandatory". However,I changed themes quick, and then changed back,and the buttons had moved over to the right side. See image> Screenshot.pngSo, I need them back on the left, But now , whenever I try to change/edit the 'key'... I get this error message~Screenshot-1.png gahh!

Is there any way to do this on KDE? I've looked under all the windows options, and the 'Buttons' section only contained a list that didn't seem to have what I was looking for.I've only been using KDE for a couple of weeks, so I apologize if the answer is obvious, or if moving the buttons to the left is simply not an option. Any help would be appreciated.

What I want is my window controls to be on the right side of the window when the window is in full screen mode.
Also I've had an issue with the Unity dockbar glitching out. I can still click on the buttons (i.e. the logout button) but it displays like a nintendo game inserted crooked. Is there a way to 'restart' unity without log out/ log in?
Any one else experienced any glitches with unity auto hiding/showing?
I have noticed that,in Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat,the windows have their 3 buttons[maximize(a square),close(x) and minimize(-)] at the left(like in MacOS),while in earlier Ubuntu versions(for example,8.04 Hardy Heron),these buttons are at the right(like in the Windows operating system).Why did the developers of Ubuntu do this change?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am running 10.10 Netbook Edition. I added Terminal Server Client to the Unity Menu and I typically run it in Full Screen mode to manage serveral windows based servers. The problem is that TSC displays perfect in full screen (unity tool bar hidden) but when i move the mouse over to the left side of the screen i get the pop-up text balloons from the unity below it. I cannot click on any items along the left edge of the remote desktop window including the windows start key. I want to confirm if this is a bug? and how to report it if so.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've tried some more recent builds of Libre Office from Alien Bob and I'm still getting crashes when I try to dock the Navigator panel on the left side of the window for any of the office applications.
Details are in this post. More specifically, I'm running libreoffice-3.2.99.3-i486 from Eric. When I run 'oowriter' (Libreoffice Writer) from the command line, and then try to dock the navigator panel, I get this message after the crash:

When I position icons on the desktop in specific places, then I choose to move a file or folder into another folder, all the icons arrange back to the left side. This happened in an earlier version of KDE 4.x, disappeared the next version, and reappeared. how to keep this from happening. It makes using the desktop a pain in the you know what.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I was fooling around with compiz settings manager and was trying to get the cube to rotate around, and by doing so I disabled some plugins (because I was prompted to do so) and now Unity is gone and everything opens in the upper left hand corner so much so that I can't move the window. It was pretty rash for me just to disable plugins,how to get everything back to normal.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf a file gets created in the user's Desktop folder, or if a drive is added to the machine and a Desktop icon is correspondingly created, they will by default appear on the left side of the desktop (unless, in the case of the latter, the specific drive has been created before and dragged to the right side, in which case GNOME will remember to put it in the same place).
Because I have a terminal window embedded onto my Desktop in the top left corner and occupying most of the screen), I keep my icons on the right side of the Desktop instead of the left (Mac style) - Any time I add a new drive or a file is sent to the Desktop, however, I have to kill the terminal window to be able to click on the icon, then drag it back to the right side, then restart the terminal.
Is there any way to tweak GNOME so that these icons are added from the top right corner and down instead of from the top left, automatically?
I have been struggling to change the border color of the windows on Ubuntu without actually changing the theme (e.g., Keeping the "Human" theme, but having the frame borders be a different color than orange.) I have searched Google for some help, but found nothing that works. I have gone to System > Preferences > Appearance and set the 'Selected Items' color [URL] but to no avail. Only the controls changed color, not the window borders.

When I move the cursor to the edge of a window to resize it, i only get the resize arrow in a very small area and it takes me several tries to get it just right. Is there anyway to broaden the resize area threshold or something?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently installed KDE on my Ubuntu setup to try kubuntu by installing the kubuntu-desktop package.I decided I didn't enjoy KDE as much as GNOME, so I went back into GNOME and uninstalled the kubuntu-desktop package via Synaptic.That didn't remove ANY of the stuff that it brought in, so I searched for the keywords "kubuntu" and "kde" and uninstalled all packages but one (libdecoration0) to get rid of all the KDE-mess.Now, after logging back in...THERE IS NO WINDOW BORDER. View 7 Replies View RelatedOn my system (Ubuntu 9.x -> 10.x) I have always had the problem of not being able to select the edges of a window in order to change the window size. It seems that the 'hot' zone, which defines the window border selection area, is only 1 pixel wide. I find it very difficult to position the mouse pointer over this zone. Even if I am successful (which usually takes more than 20 tries), as soon as I begin to depress the mouse button, the merest movement causes the pointer to move off the 'hot' zone - and selection fails. The only work-around I have found is to select a corner point of a window -which seems much less sensitive - and then drag the window border in either a vertical or horizontal direction, rather than diagonally. But this is counter-intuitive and unsatisfactory.

It installed fine and ran for a few minutes before my window borders disappeared entirely (see the attached screenshot). I've since tried running metacity --replace, but this makes unity disappear, so I'm left with my open windows only.
PS; I heard that there can be issues with ATI/AMD. Alas, that is my exact setup. I am urged to install proprietary drivers, but they fail to download.
i have ubuntu 10.10 netbook edition but im running the desktop edition and i was recently trying to use compiz but it didnt work so i uninstalled it.. then after rebooting, no apps have window borders and my cursor changed to an x.. when i press alt i can move the windows..
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been searching and have been unable to find a solution. My current theme is rather dark, for reading at night, etc. And with inactive windows on the screen, the border changes to white from black and makes it difficult on the eyes.
Is there a way to change this inactive color to another, such as black or dark gray?
