I have just downloaded Thunderbird and I'm trying to install it but whenever I try to run the "thunderbird" file it just runs and it doesn't install. How do i install it properly?
View 9 RepliesWhen I install F14 on my desktop, everything works 100%. I can open up the Add/Remove Software search for Thunderbird for example and install it. When I install F14 on my laptop (Dell D820), Thunderbird doesn't show up when I search, and when I look at the software sources, nothing is checked. When I try to enable it, it says could not contact fedora and it will be disabled. as to what is different between the two installs?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy .jar file needs and uses some files in the same directory it's in (everything, including the jar was unzipped into said directory). It runs perfectly when I do java -jar file.jar in the command line, but there's trouble when I double-click the file when running from the file system manager. I've tried a custom command under properties ie java -jar, but the problem is that the .jar file doesn't seem to be able to use any of the files in the same directory. When running, the jar can't find any of the files that it needs.

View 2 Replies View Related"requires installation of untrusted packages" roadblock in updating Ubuntu10.10, I downloaded and installed 10.04 LTS, hoping it would be reasonably hassle free. I've used it prior to my 10.10 upgrade, so I was very surprised to learn it doesn't support Mozilla Thunderbird email client, which I've been using on every Ubuntu version since I started with the 9.0x series.
Does any body know how to get around this? According to the Software center, Thunderbird is available for installation, but the install fails saying (no surprises!!) "Requires installation of untrusted packages"
In getting my Fedora 15 installation up and running (which it mostly is, now, thanks to help from LQ!) I am at the point of installing thunderbird so that I can send/receive email. It seems to install fine, but when setting up the account it says that my username/password is not recognized. I know that I am typing them in right, and if I go directly to gmail with firefox rather than through thunderbird they work OK. Any thoughts? (I am also posting to the thunderbird forum at mozilla.)

I have the exact same settings on both Evolution and Thunderbird but only Thunderbird sees the mails (new/old), there are 139 messages.Evolution seen none. Nothing. I looked for IMAP-related problems concerning Evolution and one thread suggested something about Inbox-folder and it's location. I don't know if it's the solution, but I didn't find any luck trying different combos in Evolution's options.

I have also tried just doing the "php wps_product_import.php" on 20 different lines and I get an error saying it can't open the script file and only runs once.

- I also change the default application (in System Settings) to google-chrome and Opera. But no result.
- http-links in other application (dolphin, nautilus, ...) works correctly

May I ask that does VIM support editing large files. I'm editing a 3G (good, less than 4G) text file with several millions of lines. I have deleted the first ~110,000 lines and :x (save and exit). OMG: this operation takes more than 3 days. I think it hangs already, so I terminated it. So my question is, can VIM do this???

Am running karmic on a P2-350 Mhz with 256 Mb RAM. Yes, I know this is an old computer, but it has been very good, performance wise, since versions earlier than 8.x I think.
But now, after a fresh install of karmic, it is very slow at everything. Checked system monitor and CPU is constantly running at between 95% and 100%

View 3 Replies View RelatedThanks to Lucid not working properly on i845, i855 and other 8xx chips, had to re-install Karmic on my mum's computer.I saved all the data from her old install and I ve managed to get all her old emails from thunderbird, but I cant import her address book.In Thunderbird/tools/import/addressbooks it only allows importing of LDIF, .tab, .csv and .txt files, but I cant find any of these files in any of the Thunderbird, .Thunderbird, Mozilla-Thunderbird or Mozilla folders in Home folder or anywhere, all I can find is "abook.mab" which IS supposed to be her address book, but when I try and import it the entries are blank and/or indecipherable (prob cos not a compatible file type).
Its one of those "simple" things to do, thats taken hours and hours of time, but that I cant actually find out how to do.
I just dl'd Thunderbird and its working fine with my Hotmail account however I'm having some problems with my Gmail account. I can send emails thru gmail just fine but when I click get mail, the error message: Unable to locate mail spool file pops up. The server settings for this account are Server Type: Unix Movemail Server Name: Local Host Username: (my gmail email - @gmail.com) I think this is all set up right, it did it automatically for me.

I had a portable apps version of Thunderbird (windows) that runs off a thumb drive and wanted to take the settings and transfer them to my Thunderbird that's on my Linux computer.
This is what I did:
First, I installed thunderbird on my Ubuntu 10.04 Linux box and opened it, and closed it (so that it would create the /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder in the user account).
Then, I renamed the linux /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder to .thunderbird_ORIGINAL
Then, I created a new /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder
Then, I took the windows e:ThunderbirdPortableDataprofile folder and copied it to the /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder.
Then, I looked into the /home/<username>/.thunderbird_ORIGINAL folder and wrote down the name of the folder with the ".default" extension.
Then, I renamed the profile folder (that came from the windows e:ThunderbirdPortableData folder) "<name-I-wrote-down>.default".
And then, I copied the profiles.ini folder from /home/<username>/.thunderbird_ORIGINAL to the /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder.
I opened up Thunderbird in Linux and everything seems fine! (I'll definitely be keeping a backup just in case)
My question is: is this fine and dandy, or a recipe for disaster?
I am doing an analysis with postfix, qmail and sendmail analyzing its performance.I need to send mail of size 10 MB, 50MB and 75 MB and analyze the time taken to send each mail to different users.I first used telnet, but file attachment is very hard there.Then i went for thunderbird but the file attachment size is just 5 MB. So is there a possibility to send such huge file size?
