I want to take a screen shot of FF browser with expanded menu items.
I could take the same without expanded menu items, but when I click say File/Edit/View and then click on Prnt Scrn nothing happens.
I'm making some instructions for colleagues at work. I want to add printscreen shots of the steps involved. I'm unable to capture the screen to the clipboard when I am hovering over, say, the 'File -> Menu'.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my background as a satellite picture of the earth. Right now I have a scheduled task to grab that picture off the internet (the website updates it every three hours) so my background is a 'live' snapshot of the earth.
I want to set up a scheduled task to take a screen shot every three hours, so that I can see, for example, the way the earth changes over the course of a day...a week, etc. I already have the Scheduled Task Manager from Gnome, but would anyone know what command I could use to do this?
My biggest problem is figuring out how to change the name of the picture it saves it as every time. (e.g. earth1.jpg, earth2.jpg, earth3.jpg, etc.)
I'm using Ubuntu 11.04. In a startup script, I have
Code:
start() {
log_daemon_msg "Starting selenium-server server: "
export DISPLAY=localhost:15.0
/usr/bin/Xvfb :15 -ac -screen 0 1024x768x16 &
From the console, how do I take a screen shot of the display at localhost:15.0 -- my DISPLAY above?
I have Ubuntu Server Ed. installed (so no Gnome) and was wondering if it's possible to capture screen shot images?
I'm using Subversion, and need to capture screen shots of some merge collisions you see.
Everything is being done via the terminal.
Does anyone know the name of the volume applet (package) shown in the screen shot? I want to remove it. I'm on 10.10 and it appears every time I switch sound output from the SoundMenu.

I saw some threads on this site and tried to type: sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst
In the terminal. It returned a blank text document so I'm not sure if that information was outdated. I then typed: sudo fdisk -l

I when choose "Ubuntu" on the boot menu, it just says something about no wubldr, then the screen goes blank, & it goes back to the boot menu. View 9 Replies View RelatedHere's the problem: My ubuntu goes into a black screen with "_" flashing after selecting the kernel in grub menu. Everything has been working just fine since I installed it (about a month ago, when 11.04 came out). The problem must have something to do with grub not finding the correct partition or something like that. I was messing around with pysdm, trying to make it auto-mount one of my partitions, so that's the likely cause of my problem. However, I did not edit anything on the ubuntu partition, only the partition where my files are located. Is there any way to tell grub which partition to load upon booting up?

How can I just get back to my regular boot screen? I run dual boot xp and ubuntu, is grub a program of xp or ubuntu? I have no idea what this grub menu is and whats going on with my pc!

When i tried to go to openSUSE it seemed to work and a long list of text came up but after a few seconds it went to a blank screen. The same thing happens when i go to failsafe. so i'm not really sure what to do, i would have tried a few things i've found from searching but can't get to the command prompt on failesafe.

Would removing these menus affect stability

I am having trouble with the grub boot menu. I have a dual boot system, Windows XP 32 bit and Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit. Windows was preexisting when I installed Ubuntu. The install went fine but when I restarted, the Grub menu gives the option of the Windows boot loader but when I tab to that and press enter the screen goes black and the curser just blinks in the upper left corner...no XP boot. The XP drive is there as I can mount it from Ubuntu side but when I try to boot into it it does not seem to be there. What have I done and what can be done so that I can boot into the XP side?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm currently trying to get to the root of an problem on startup; unfortunatly when booting after the first couple of messages when booting without quiet and with nosplash in the grub menu I still end up with the nice blue background and the slowly filling bubble... I'd like to go back to the old, boring, messy, but much loved and now much missed (least by me) text boot screen where I can see wtf my system is doing and where its hanging during the boot process.
(I know the cause of the hang now but still want to go back to the old fashioned noisy boot environment - not a fan of the windows style silent boot... I like to know what's going on and that my PC hasn't decided to join the French and go on strike, though wouldn't blame my poor netbook if it has, hammering the bleeper doing random number analysis - not something an atom 270 is designed for)

I have special permission from the management to stimulate my colleagues to learn Linux - er, Fedora. So I'm dual booting a few machines for them to toy around with. However, all of the popular things of course have to work easily, otherwise there's no convincing them..Almost everything has been arranged, except for an easy way to bulk-print pictures onto A4. I have probably missed it but google doesn't help, this forum doesn't give me too much that I can find.
I did find gpp (Gnome Photo Print) but that is still too complicated. I need to be able to either get it directly from the nautilus context menu, or set the gui so that this app is automatically used when viewing images in a memory card. And then it has to be easy to print.
I installed 11.04 after Windows 7. when the GRUB boot menu starts up there is an option for Win 7 boot but it will not boot windows. When that option is selected the screen changes colour for 2 seconds and then reverts to the GRUB menu. Ubuntu boots fine.I downloaded the Boot Info Script and ran it, the results are
