I place the key in the wireless key section but the activate (ok) button is greyed out. Sorry can't give a screen shot because I am using my Win 7 boot at time. Oh yeah I am using Fedora 12 x64 on my laptop.

I have my background as a satellite picture of the earth. Right now I have a scheduled task to grab that picture off the internet (the website updates it every three hours) so my background is a 'live' snapshot of the earth.
I want to set up a scheduled task to take a screen shot every three hours, so that I can see, for example, the way the earth changes over the course of a day...a week, etc. I already have the Scheduled Task Manager from Gnome, but would anyone know what command I could use to do this?
My biggest problem is figuring out how to change the name of the picture it saves it as every time. (e.g. earth1.jpg, earth2.jpg, earth3.jpg, etc.)
Whenever I try to take a screen shot with a menu open the menu disappears. Is this correct, and if not how do I put it right?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just want to use Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) to connect to the internet. I have done a massive amount of troubleshooting, but some of it seems to contradict itself, and the only two things that I know for sure are that it used to work, and that my Ethernet cable is not the problem. When I use Terminal utilities like ifup and dhclient it seems that it can not determine IP information, but when I try to put it in manually, the "Apply" button grays out right after I finish typing it in. When I try to connect normally, in KDE or GNOME, the icon acts like it's connecting, then instead of having the connected icon, I receive a notification that "the network has been disconnected", and it goes back to the disconnected icon.
Oh, and by the way, I know that I could probably find a workaround, but I have limited resources, and this used to work. The Linux is a Dell desktop with Fedora 12 and the Windows is a Windows 7 HP laptop.EDIT: I hope that I didn't mess something up, but I accidentally used system-network-config to try putting in the IP address there, and ended up changing it back to the original settings, but the computer is now calling it Auto Ethernet in the taskbar icon, although sudo iwconfig in the terminal still calls it eth0.
I have done a fresh install of the OS and I am having wifi trouble. I am failing in connecting to an access point that Windows works fine with on the same machine. As far as I can tell it is connecting but not getting an IP address via DHCP. when running ifup it says its backgrounding getting an ip address.

I am currently trying to set up OpenWRT linux on the router. Things seem okay in Windows, but when I try to connect from linux my laptop locks up completely and I have to hard reboot. I have ubuntu CD. When I try to install it inside the window through wubi installer. I choose install inside the window. After installing when computer reboots. I got two option. When I choose ubuntu for boot. After 5-6 seconds a black screen appears like command and installation stopped here. {This screen is full of lines, somthing like...Kvasprintf..//.... acpi,,??//. I'm using ADSL modem (not router) and I can't connect to internet. The network manager and the pppoe-setup command doesn't work. So I'm asking some of the experienced users of fedora 12 to help me setup my connection.

View 5 Replies View Relatedusing a text interface for my computing but I have run into an issue. Does anyone know of a CLI networking tool that will allow me to connect to a non-broadcasting network? I have tried cnetworkmanager and attempted wpa_cli. The first does not seem to support it and I have not played too terribly much with the second. I have discovered that when I boot my comps into KDE and tell NetworkManager to connect to the network cnetworkmanager can find it then, but that does me no good for what I want, which is to boot my computers straight to runlevel 3 and get connected. If it means anything I am running F11 on a Dell Inspiron 1521 Laptop with a Broadcom wireless card (awfully annoying to set up, but it is working fine) as well as F11 on a desktop of my own designing with a Netgear wireless adapter.
P.S. I realize that broadcasting the network would be the trivial solution but alas I am not the admin on the router and he is out of town.
I have a wireless USB (TP-Link TL-WN620G) adapter on F10( 2.6.27.38-170.2.113.fc10.i686). I have installed the drivers and it is detecting my router. But it keeps asking for network password with repeating a dialogue box although I entered correct password. I have configured the wireless configuration using NetworkManager.
