I accidentally deleted the pictures folder in the Home folder (the content was backed up fortunately). How can reinstall this original folder to place the pics back? I cannot find the location. The theme is Ambiance with the Ubuntu-Mono-Dark icons.

I have installed the ATI catalyst drivers working from the tutorial here under 'Installing the Restricted Drivers Manually': [URL]... After successfully getting the ATI driver running, I realise I really don't need or want it and am wanting to uninstall it completely and return the config to the way it was. Some of that I can do with the aid of some of the links I have found but installing the ATI drivers no doubt killed some of the packages that were there in the first place (graphics was fine in the first place incidentally). Question: What might these squashed packages be so I can reinstall them and have graphics setup as it was before I installed the ATI drivers and how can I remove all trace of the ATI drivers?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using Ubuntu 10.10. I want to copy all the pictures from various folders in my Documents to a single folder. So in Nautilus, I clicked on Places > Search for Files. Then chose the Documents folder and typed *.jpg in the search criteria. It found all of my pictures just fine. However it would not let me copy and paste them into a folder I put on my desktop. Copy is not on the "right" click menu and Ctrl C did not work for the highlighted search results. This is so simple in Windows but it does not seem to work in Ubuntu.

View 3 Replies View RelatedRunning Ubuntu 10.10 along side Windows7 on a 64-bit HP Pavilion dv7 Laptop. Everything works in Windows. Everything works in Ubuntu, except for 2 things.1) I can live with not being able to enable/disable wifi.) I cannot read photos from an SD card plugged into the laptops SD card reader. When I open the SD card in Ubuntu, I can see the file name, but the thumbnails show messed up pictures. Usually, the bottom half of the photo is solid green, and there are usually lines running through the photo, or it is divided into quadrants with one quadrant being ok, but the rest having the green and/or lines.I assume the driver for the card reader is not correct. Card reader works fine in Windows. So I have to reboot into windows, copy pictures from reader to a folder, then reboot into Ubuntu and I can see and open the photos just fine. Just cannot read and copy them from the card while in Ubuntu.

I have reinstalled windows 7 and now i can't boot ubuntu i've tried easybcd to add ubuntu to win boot loader which failed and tried to follow the instructions to reinstall grub through a live cd which i am in at the moment. i go to a terminal and type sudo grub and it brings up the grub prompt. i have mounted all discs and entered the command find /boot/grub/stage1 and it keeps spitting this back at me Error 15: File not found
my hd is a 80gb with partions like this

On several websites, such as WordPress and Facebook, when I go to upload pictures, in the window that pops up, all that I see is a big, empty box, even if pictures are in there. For example, let's say I navigate to my picture folder to choose a picture of my dog to upload. Neither the picture nor any of the other pictures in the folder will appear. Just a big, gray box, almost as if the folder were empty. Strangely, random pictures that I have downloaded from the web, such as one of Martin Luther that I have, show up. But even then, not all the pictures that I have downloaded!
This is perplexing to say the least!
Is this happening/has this happened to anyone before? Is it a bug in Ubuntu or have I neglected to download something important?
I plug my camera into my computer and a window pops that says a camera has been detected. There are two buttons, "Ignore" and "Import Photos". I click on "Import Photos" and nothing happens. I'm wondering if I can just navigate to a folder where I might find the pictures, kinda like /media/cdrom/ to get to a cd.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi can't even get that far on the ebay website. i've been using ubuntu on this computer for years, it all seems to be set up correctly, i have flash installed and can view videos, i have java installed and can view applets.go to url... and click the link on the top right that says sell. log in if you have to, enter a keyword, choose your category to sell in and go to the next page. on this page there's a picture section and the header says, "bring your item to life with pictures." next to it there's a link which allows you to show/hide options for where the picture comes from so you can upload one, link to a website, plus other options. i click the link to show the option for uploading a picture and it just brings me to the top of the page. each time i click that link it just brings me to the top of the page.
i thought maybe it was trying to open a popup window that got blocked but there's no notification in the url like there usually is, it just moves me to the top of the page and that's it.
If I want attach some images to e-mail or facebook, I can see just a names of files, usually numbers only. It is dificult to choose the right one, if I can not see prewiews. How can I do it?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am preparing a poster using draw and impress. Everything go well till I save the file and quit the impress. When I open the previous prepared poster in impress, none of pictures embedded retrieved. I have also prepared a diagram using draw. There is no problem importing it into impress. The problem comes when I close the poster and re-open it in impress. It goes crazy. 1.png is before closing the impress and 2.png is after re-opening it.
