Ubuntu :: Pictures Won't Show Up (possibly Off Topic)?
Oct 28, 2010had 10.04 and one day the pictures on facebook stopped showing up. like the display pics. i figured it was an error so i finally got the error fixed, but the facebook picture problem was still there. i thought upgrading to 10.10 would fix it, but it didn't. anyone know why the pictures won't show up? this never happened using windows and they ppear on every other windows computer i use

May 1, 2011Running Ubuntu 10.10 along side Windows7 on a 64-bit HP Pavilion dv7 Laptop. Everything works in Windows. Everything works in Ubuntu, except for 2 things.1) I can live with not being able to enable/disable wifi.) I cannot read photos from an SD card plugged into the laptops SD card reader. When I open the SD card in Ubuntu, I can see the file name, but the thumbnails show messed up pictures. Usually, the bottom half of the photo is solid green, and there are usually lines running through the photo, or it is divided into quadrants with one quadrant being ok, but the rest having the green and/or lines.I assume the driver for the card reader is not correct. Card reader works fine in Windows. So I have to reboot into windows, copy pictures from reader to a folder, then reboot into Ubuntu and I can see and open the photos just fine. Just cannot read and copy them from the card while in Ubuntu.

Jun 1, 2010So I recently installed Lubuntu on my netbook and I have it all working except for one hitch - when I download something in Chromium (such as a .deb or a .odt file) when I click on the finished download in the bar at the bottom of Chromium it does not open the file in gdebi/abiword as it should. Also when I right click on a file and select "show in folder" it does not work...
Not sure if this is an issue with Chromium or LXDE/PCMan but I figured it couldn't hurt to post here asking about it.
Ubuntu :: Chromium Application Shortcuts In Unity - Not Including Most Of Chromium's Toolbars
May 2, 2011I often use the option in Chromium to create 'application shortcuts'. These are instances of Chromium that make a website look more like an app by not including most of Chromium's toolbars. I use it for gmail and google docs and spreadsheets and calendar. In 11.04 I have set up Desktop launchers and copied them across to the Launcher (what an odd way to add something to the launcher, why no right-click 'add launcher' option?)
The problem is that the launcher thinks all these apps are chromium (which they are really, but I would like them to be seen as separate apps). If I minimize my gmail window, a little triangle appears next to the chromium icon, not the gmail icon. To get the window back, I have to click on the Chromium icon. Clicking on the gmail icon launches a new instance of it (also tied to the Chromium icon).

Dec 2, 2010if i run chromium with --enable-gpu-rendering flag chromium's display looks like it's shattered into thousands of pieces and I can't understand a thing. This doesn't happens if I have a previous instance of chromium opened in the usual way, without any flag. In this case if I open another chromium window with the --enable-gpu-rendering flag it's display looks ok, but I can't figure out what's the problem and how could this be fixed if there's solution for it of course.

Oct 22, 2010I made a shortcut with chromium browser to listen.grooveshark.com. This is great as it's almost like the grooveshark VIP desktop application like this. However AWN dock groups it with other chromium windows like this:Kuvakaappaus.jpg
Is it possible to force AWN to group this specific chromium window under the Grooveshark launcher that I have in the dock? Turning off grouping does not solve this either, as it just shows grooveshark as another chromium window.
Ubuntu :: Maverick Doesn't Show Sub-menus / Show That?
Oct 14, 2010Anyway since I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10 when I right-click on something and there is another menu in that menu, it doesn't show up for the first time!
for example if I want to create a an "Empty File", I'll right-click on desktop and when I want to go to "Create Document" menu, it doesn't show up! so I must click somewhere else and try again so for the second time it works!!
General :: Evolution Does Not Show Content Of Inbox Or Sent But Does Show Other Folders
Apr 28, 2011I configured it to use IMAP to access our exchange 2010 server front end on a LAN connection. Our webmail connection is segregated behind Forefront, so it was not connecting/authing that way. Even though smartphones have no problem. (sidenote, is there an activesync linux mail client ?)
I have many root folders and several folders underneath my inbox. total mailsize in inbox is 3.5 GB without subfolders. The sent is likewise as large. And is likewise empty.

But thunderbird is missing calender
Tried adding lightening, but it won't add into thunderbird.
Will try finding a diff add on, or if anyone knows how to get lightening into thunderbird 3.1.8 on ubuntu 10 that would be great as well.
Ubuntu :: Pictures Not Available For Upload?
Jan 18, 2010On several websites, such as WordPress and Facebook, when I go to upload pictures, in the window that pops up, all that I see is a big, empty box, even if pictures are in there. For example, let's say I navigate to my picture folder to choose a picture of my dog to upload. Neither the picture nor any of the other pictures in the folder will appear. Just a big, gray box, almost as if the folder were empty. Strangely, random pictures that I have downloaded from the web, such as one of Martin Luther that I have, show up. But even then, not all the pictures that I have downloaded!
This is perplexing to say the least!
Is this happening/has this happened to anyone before? Is it a bug in Ubuntu or have I neglected to download something important?

May 1, 2010I plug my camera into my computer and a window pops that says a camera has been detected. There are two buttons, "Ignore" and "Import Photos". I click on "Import Photos" and nothing happens. I'm wondering if I can just navigate to a folder where I might find the pictures, kinda like /media/cdrom/ to get to a cd.

Aug 11, 2010i can't even get that far on the ebay website. i've been using ubuntu on this computer for years, it all seems to be set up correctly, i have flash installed and can view videos, i have java installed and can view applets.go to url... and click the link on the top right that says sell. log in if you have to, enter a keyword, choose your category to sell in and go to the next page. on this page there's a picture section and the header says, "bring your item to life with pictures." next to it there's a link which allows you to show/hide options for where the picture comes from so you can upload one, link to a website, plus other options. i click the link to show the option for uploading a picture and it just brings me to the top of the page. each time i click that link it just brings me to the top of the page.
i thought maybe it was trying to open a popup window that got blocked but there's no notification in the url like there usually is, it just moves me to the top of the page and that's it.

When I open the previous prepared poster in impress, none of pictures embedded retrieved. I have also prepared a diagram using draw. There is no problem importing it into impress. The problem comes when I close the poster and re-open it in impress. It goes crazy. 1.png is before closing the impress and 2.png is after re-opening it.

Oct 15, 2010Got a wierd one. Customer of mine has a digital camera that appears to mount just fine and can retrieve pictures fine. However, The thumbnail view of the pictures does not change when the old pics are deleted from the camera and new ones are put on.
If you mount the camera and click on one of the pics and open it in the default pic viewer it appears to be a different picture than what the thumbnail shows.
Now has anyone experienced a problem similar to this? Id love to hear how you got around this.
Customer is running Karmic Koala with all updates.

Nov 12, 2010I am trying to open a .rar file with encrypted pictures in it. I use the command line in terminal
unrar --password (file name) (file destination)
it gives me the option next, to put in a password and finally, it says extracting (file name) failed
Is this because the password is wrong (im 99% sure it is right) or because the command is wrong or something?
