View 1 RepliesI can't get my ubuntu 11.04 to print on canon pixma ip2772, it says that I got canon ip2700 series installed, and show that I am printing a test page, but nothing happens on the printer.
View 4 Replies View RelatedRunning Ubuntu 10.10, when trying to print to canon 1800 print file is created, spooled to printer but does not print. Job appears in print Q and ends as finished job, next job number increases correctly. Printer light flashes to indicate data in,, but nothing out on paper !! (printer works fine on "the Other" OS!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new printer yesterday. It is a Canon Pixma iP2600 series. I connected everything properly and my computer found the drivers and told me the printer was ready for use. However, when I tried to print out a test page the computer said it was printing, the printer was flashing as it should, but nothing was printing out. Is there some switch I need to turn on or off? Is there something that I need to type in or delete somewhere? The old printer was a HP deskjet and it did work even if it was a little slow being that it is over 8 years old.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased the canon pixma mg5220 and am currently figuring out how to print to it from my computer.
First of all, I dont know how to connect to it (its a wireless printer btw and is currently connected to my wireless router). I went to the "add new printer" part of the printer utility and selected "Find Network Printer." I dont know what to type in for "host" however. Right now i have a temporary fix of sharing the printer on my laptop (which runs windows) and printing through that.
Second of all, drivers. I found http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1588333 and downloaded the drivers (to my downloads folder) from the link provided, but I can't figure out how to install it. The post says to run the install.sh but it seems to be just a text file, and when i right click it, "properties" is not an option, so i cant mark it as executable. How would can i run this file to install the drivers?
I am looking for a good new ALL IN ONE printer that will be compatible with Ubuntu right out of the box (scanner and everything).
I am also looking for a portable bluetooth printer that will be compatible. I currently have a Canon pixma ip90v bluetooth printer but I cant get it to print AT ALL and Ive tryed everything.
I am currently running 3 computers with Ubuntu 10.10 and one with 11.04 Alpha 3.
Trying to make a Canon Pixma 3-in-1 MP250 to work with my Slackware. I've took the drivers from the canon website (they have .deb, .rpm and sources there) and compile. Basically I followed the instructions from INSTALL files in each subdirectory (backend, cngpij, etc).
Then I upgraded also CUPS to 1.4.3.
Installing the printer in CUPS, I end up with:
Code:
Description:Canon MP250 series
Location:
Driver:Canon MP250 series Ver.3.20 (color)
Connection:cnijusb:/dev/usb/lp0
Defaults:job-sheets=none, none media=iso_a4_210x297mm
It seems ok. But when I send a test page (or any other kind) to printer, it shows some activity on the led display, cups reports the job as completed but nothing happens!
As an extra, I tried to convert .deb packages to .tgz and install from them. The same result, except now the scangear utility is working (so scanning is ok).
How can I find what's missing from here? Maybe it's a bug with cups/drivers or something is missing from configuration?
p.s. On other machine I have an Xubuntu (Karmic Koala). Installed there from .deb packages and the printer works as expected.
I recently bought a used Canon IP1600 Inkjet Printer. It did not come with the cd-rom to install and set up this printer. I downloaded the driver. And i recieved a message saying my system is not modified.

Does anyone have an idea of where i can find a driver for this printer? The system does not have one and if I try a driver for say the PIXMA MP220 which is CUPS + Gutenprint v5.2.4 [en] (actually, all the PIXMA drivers are that one) and I print the printer seems like it receives some command but nothing else happens. The printer says 'Printing from PC' and then goes back to the main screen.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was using 10.04 until a few days ago, and with 10.04 my printer worked fine, I used the default drivers for MP150 and that worked fine. But now I'm using 11.04 and I'm trying to instal the printer with the default drivers for MP150 but it's not working. When Ubuntu tries to find the driver is not giving me any result for MP140, so I'm selecting the option "CANON PIXMA MP150 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.6 Simplified [en] (Recomended)" and allows me to click next and to give a name to the printer and to hit next, but then the windows closes and that's it then I go to System > Admin > Printer and I double click the printer I just created and I click Print Test Page and then it gives me "Printer Status: Processing - Printing Page 1.8%" and after 4minutes or so gives me "Installation or actualization of package "python-xmpp 0.4.1-cvx20080505.2" failed" and that's it Is there a way to fix this? I have no idea why this is not working since it worked fine in 10.04, and I really need to use the printer and the scanner as soon as possible
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am running 9.10. I have a HP Photosmart 7350 printer. I have it installed and printing. But the issue I am dealing with is that it will print a full page and then print a blank page..then a full page..then a blank page. Actually they aren't completely blank..it shows half of "2 of 6" or whatever page it is on. Like it cuts that in half and prints the 2nd half of "2 of 6" onto a separate new page.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just installed SUSE 11.2, but although my ip3000 shows in the hardware, I cannot get a correct print out on A4 paper and I am informed that no driver is available. There must be a work-around for this?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIt's weird because it did not even print different shades of gray (for the colors), as though I set it to print to black-and-white, when clearly I did not.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get my Canon Pixma MP510 scanner to work under openSUSE 11.3. Canon Linux Support doesn't seem to have anything for 11.3, but sane claims to provide basic functionality. The printer is working fine, but I don't manage to configure the scanner.
I tried to configure via YaST, but the following happens: The scanner is found, but (correctly) labbelled as "not configured". Clicking "Edit", the PIXMA MP510 is listed and a driver suggested: "Canon PIXMA MP510: (Package sane-backends) Driver pixma should provide basic functionality (USB-ID 0x04a9:0x1717)" If I select this option an click on "Next", the window crashes and I get the following error in the KDialog window, but I have no clue what it means: "YaST got signal 11 at YCP file Wizard.ycp:849 /sbin/yast2: line 399: 5663 Segmentation fault $ybindir/y2base $module "$@" "$SELECTED_GUI" $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2UI_ARGS"
Is this a YaST problem? Or driver related? I thought about configuring the scanner without YaST, but don't know how to do it. I tried to google a HowTo, but couldn't find anything useful.
The command "sane-find-scanner" successfully detects the scanner, "found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon], product=0x1717 [MP510]) at libusb:001:004", but the command "scanimage -L" yields "No scanners were identified."
how to make YaST configure my scanner? Or how to configure it without YaST?
There is not a driver for the Canon Pixma ip1800 Printer in Ubuntu. How do I go about getting this printer to work with Ubuntu 10.10.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have finaly gotten the Canon Pixma MP495 working under Ubuntu 10.10, with full resolution capabilities of the printer. This printer is only advirtised as having a max resolution of 4800x1200 DPI. However, I called Canon to get the full range of print resolutions and was informed that this printer is capable of 9600x2400 DPI.I haven't tested this below Ubuntu 10.04 but it should work fine.
For setting your MP495 printer up on your network without the use of a Windows or Mac machine (Fresh out of the box with Ubuntu) you will need to match your Routers SSID to the printers default SSID, and remove any security you have enabled. This will allow the printer to connect to your network.
Printer Defaults:
SSID: BJNPSETUP
IP ADDRESS: Automatic
Once you have done that you will need to activate the wireless lan on the printer.Press the Maintenance button on the printer 13 times until you see what looks like a capital G without the middle line. Then press the color start button. (refer to page 10 of your Network Setup Troubleshooting manual for an actual picture of the symbol) You should see the wifi light on the front of the printer turn on and be solid not be blinking. (If it is blinking check your routers SSID settings and match the Default SSID of the printer as listed above.
Now download angryipscanner AngryIPScanner and install it by double clicking it. It should open in the Software center or with the Gdebi installer. (this may take a few minutes to install.)Once you have installed AngryIPScanner, run it and change the ip range to include from 1 - 254 in the last octet. Then click start. When it finishes look for an active connection with a Hostname like A001BF000000.local. Yours may be different but should be very simular.
The IP address given for that hostname is the IP address of your printer. Open Firefox and type that address in the address bar and press enter. From there you can configure you printer for the SSID, and encryption that you had on your router before the change, and set a static IP for the printer so you can manage it easily. After you change the SSID and encryption on the printer you will have to go back to your router and change the SSID and encryption back to what it was before so your printer can connect again. Now your network should be back the way it was and your printer should be connected Now that you have successfully connected the printer to your wireless network continue with the rest of the installation. Download the drivers for the MP495 . You will be downloading cnijfilter-mp495series-3.40-1-deb.tar.gz.
Extract cnijfilter-mp495series-3.40-1-deb.tar.gz to your Home directory.Change the permissions of the install.sh file to run and an executable by Right licking on install.sh and then left clicking Properties. Click on the Permissions tab and put a check mark in the Allow Executing file as program box. Then open a terminal and type: [CODE]sudo ./install.sh[CODE] Follow the prompts and if you are using the printer over the network select network when prompted. I you are using it via USB choose USB. Don't forget to scroll down to complete setting up your printer to use full resolution and set up the scanner. If the first method didnt work try this.Open a terminal and enter
Code:
cd /home/*/cnijfilter-mp495series-3.40-1-deb/packages. (Enter your username where the astride is.)
Quote:
For 64 bit systems you need to replace cnijfilter-common_3.40-1_i386.deb, and cnijfilter-mp495series_3.40-1_i386.deb with cnijfilter-common_3.40-1_amd64.deb, and cnijfilter-mp495series_3.40-1_amd64.deb. For the printer setup. For the scanner replace scangearmp-

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to set up my printer a Canon Pixma MP530, there is no driver! Only the Generic ones and they don't work. On Ubuntu using the Pixma MP500 driver works just fine, but there is no option for that on suse. Only for HP and Generic. The only solution I have found was turbo print, and that costs $30. I am hoping to find a solution, I really like SUSE, but I may have to go back to Ubuntu.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get my Canon Pixma MG 5150 scanner/printer to work. While the 'printer' is doing well the 'scanner' appears to be stubborn. I use the scangearpm-MG5100series-1.60-1 driver provided by Canon which is said to be fine with Suse 11.2.
The trouble is, that though the scanner scans it does not deliver anything back. Here are the details:
When I run scangearmp as root in a terminal I get the following output:
