The second one is called 'luckyBackup (super user mode' and is supposed to launch luckyBackup with root privileges. However nothing happens when I click on it. I see that the associated command is 'su-to-root -X -c /usr/bin/luckyBackup'. Typing that command in a shell results in an error as su-to-root does not exist. So... is this syntax ('su-to-root -X -c /usr/bin/luckyBackup') supposed to work, or shall I edit it (how?) in order to be able to launch the application as root?

Fresh install of openSUSE 11.3 here and I am used to launching Konqueror as root from the CLI and having a cut and paste editor to use. This doesn't work in KDE 4.4. I can't launch kwrite from the cli as root. What am I supposed to use? I installed midnight commander but it can't cut and paste correctly. I am feeling a bit frustrated with KDE 4.4.

If I already have a gnome-terminal window open, and I invoke the gnome-terminal gesture, I'd like to be setting focus to the already running instance, rather than spawn a new instance, which is of course what happens now. (I am actually more interested in this for my gmail chrome app shortcut, and other larger apps.)
I'm very new to ubuntu and linux in general, but I was hoping there might be a nifty command I could wrap around my launch command that would produce this behavior. (I'm imagining some kind of singleton app list keeper program that consumes my command line, checks if it's already in the list, transfers focus to the running process if it is (and if that process is still running), or else spawns a new process and then adds it to its list using the the command line as a key.)

I have a problem with YaST Partitioner. When I launch it, a window opens, a dialog (to confirm that I know what I am doing) pop-ups, I choose "Yes", the application starts to initialize, and after 0.5-1s the window is closed without any error message. Does anybody know how to at least find out what is wrong? .. or how to launch it from command line to get some output?

During disk boot, this also happens twice, and finally on try 3 link comes up.

I installed an application named Specto for monitoring websites and im trying to launch this on boot.i got XFCE4 and went into Application Autostart in the Session and Startup... and i cant seem to find out where to point Specto, is it in the /usr/share/applications or not cause i tried adding it from there and it wont launch on start... anyone got a rundown on this? trying to understand it but i just dont coming from windows. Not sure where applications are going at all and the file system is just a mess compared to windows so i have no control on what and where to look.Also Specto does not show up in task manager and in the Session tab of Sessions and Startup... why?

I have created a bootable pendrive which had been working, but when I rebooted the 'Ubuntu' splash screen was larger, blockier than normal, then I am presented with a purple screen with nothing on it. 1. Fedora 2.6.31.6-166.fc12.i686.pae
2. Fedora 2.6.31.6-127.fc12.i686.pae
3. Windows
I am able to boot into both versions of fedora, but I cannot launch firefox it says-'your version of SQlite is too old and the application cannot run'. How do I correct the screw up. Should I re-install the whole thing....? why is it showing as 2 versions....? I installed yumex recently, is it the reason.....?
