i'm using Ubuntu 9.10. I just installed koffice (Version 1.x) which includes kformula.
Then i realized that koffice 2.x is already available which seems to be called "koffice-kde4" in the repositories... But koffice-kde4 doesn't have kformula included - where is it?
how i could install the complete koffice 2?
I want to upgrade Koffice to 2.1.1. When I do a search at software. [URL]...search, I see koffice2-2.1.1 available at KDE:43/openSUSE_11.2 and KDE:Backports/openSUSE_11.2.
zypper info kdebase4 shows Version: 4.3.1. OpenSUSE is 11.2. What's different about those 2 repositories? They both appear to be the same. I'd like to get updates for KOffice. I'm using it for project management.
how can i install koffice 1.6.3 on slackware 13.1, i tried koffice 2.2 believing that it already had the "save as m$" option, but it doesnt have that option yet.so i tried to install the old good 1.6.3, installed the kde3libs, qt3 and other packages, but when i tried to compile koffice it said it needed qt < 4 so... is there a way to actually install it?

KWord then does not run. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

does it not accept ftp passwords.. what ftp server program (with autostart so it works with crossover linux as i know no other way start apps with that. can try to insta wine but need rpm) will work
When I boot into Debian 8, I pull up a terminal and as root enter "apt-get install xfce4"... It then tries to install but asks for the install DVD. When I insert the USB it will not install from it. It doesn't even acknowledge that it was inserted. It is only looking for a DVD drive. How can I make it pull the files from the usb installer stick?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've tried about a billion times to get this to install correctly to no avail. This is the amd64 desktop edition, but I've tried with the 32 bit as well. I have a lenovo W500. The system never boots off the USB. It gets through a bit, with text output, and then stops. Sometimes it doesn't even give an error message, and other times I get something like udev failed while loading some pci device. I've tried re-downloading the iso several times, different USB keys, different USB key creators, CDs, to no avail.
I then thought, well, heck with it, I'll just install 10.10 and upgrade. Nope, there's a GPG key error for some bizarre reason, which is tripping up apt, but it's not going to tell me what key that is so I can go and get it (and apt-key update does nothing). Command line upgrades fail similarly. So finally, I go for broke and try to just install the thing with Wubi. Of course, that eventually crashes too.
Looks like I waited too long to upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10. Now the Update Manager wants to take my system to 10.04, but then says it is 'not supported with this tool'.Do I need to do a complete re-install of the OS? Is there a reasonable way to get to 9.10 without a complete re-install?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just installed ubuntu 11.04 (64-bit) on my system. I mounted / on my SSD and /home on my HD. The installation proceeded for a while and then I suddenly got a message that the installer crashed. Nevertheless the installed linux seems to work and I can boot in Ubuntu. Not sure what exactly is wrong now that the install didn't complete. Any way for me to check what went wrong and what exactly I can do to make sure my system is ok? All appears ok but appearances can be deceiving.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSince having installed Lucid Lynx, I have several complete system crashes a day, no matter which applications I am using. Lucid crashes without any error message and the system reboots. I have had no problem whatsoever with Karmic Koala (also switched from ext2 to ext4 when installing Lucid Lynx). Is there any probable reason for that or a workaround? Can I paste any logs here for anybody to figure out what might be going on? When I try XP which is also install, the system won't crash (so far...), so I don't think it's a hardware problem.

I have a 40 gig external drive that I want to use for Linux. I want the complete install of Ubuntu 10.10 on it so that I can boot straight from there. I tried for hours to accomplish this. The instructions I saw for the issue were for an older version of Ubuntu, and the menus have changed since then. The furthest I got with the project is creating a bootable disk on my drive; it will boot from the drive, but not the full installation. It brings up the menu just like it was a live CD and gives you the options to either "Try Ubuntu" or "Install Ubuntu." I have installed it straight to the drive, but it will not boot from it. My computer does give me the bios option to select boot priority with USB external drives.

I open the first choice which is to try Ubuntu prior to a complete installation. The installation starts and proceeds for a few minutes. Then it stops and displays a message 'Permission Denied' and a suggestion to check the installation log. The last few lines are:

In the past month my root folder has become corrupted 3 times. General system restore doesn't help and installing the default kernel doesn't help. I don't expect a forum to be able to help with the corruption issus but is there any way to restore root without a complete re-install? It's a little time consuming.

I assume 64 would be more effective?On the other hand there seem to be less problems with the availability and/or installation of applications on a 32 bit system.
