Jun 25, 2010I have to ubuntu machine (9.10 and 10.4) with a openvpn tunnel between them.This is the situation:

UbuntuA br0:192.168.0.3 (openvpn bridge between eth0 and tap0)[code].....
UbuntuA has one only interface etho and there are two openvpn instance: one bridge istance with br0 and another instance with tun0.
UbuntuA is not the gateway for networkA. UbuntuB is the gateway for NetworkB.I need to comunicate between pc on networkB e those on networkA.This is the "ping situation" (no pc tested has an active firewall):
ubuntuA vs ubuntuB: OK
ubuntuB vs ubuntuA: OK
pc on NetworkA vs ubuntuA and ubuntuB: OK[code].....

Masquerading will work, however it will throw off anything key based and makes a lot of things just more difficult and vague in general. Is there an easy way to do this via iptables? Mar 25, 2010I have three locations with a central office connected to two remote locations. At the central office I run on a cisco asa 5505 two site to site vpns. The remote end of the first site is a checkpoint firewall , and the remote end of the second site is racoon on debian. Both sites are up and working. However, where at the first site traffic goes both ways, at the second site it only works from the central office to the remote office.
For example, I can ssh from a host in the central office to a host in the first remote site (through checkpoint firewall,) then ssh back from that host at the remote office to any host in the central office. In contrast, after I ssh from a host in the central office to a host in the second remote office (through racoon), I cannot see the central office hosts (ping the ip address of a central office host, ssh, etc. all fail.) The vpn settings at the central office (the cisco asa 5505) are identical. So it seems to me that some routing magic is missing on the host running racoon at the second remote office. Where would such setting reside? racoon config files? iptables?

Feb 18, 2010In the office there is a local network with samba+openldap PDC. The local domain name is company.net. The company desided to create a corporate Website on a remote hosting and desided that the site's domain should be company.net which is same as local network's domain name. So now it is not possible to reach that corporate website from within the company's local network because, as I guess, bind9 which is installed on above menioned PDC looks for company.net on a local webserver. Is there a possibility to let people from this local network browse the remote site?

Feb 23, 2010New to ubuntu but have use Suse 11.2 a bit. I downloaded a Spanish dictionary to Openoffice on suse with no problems. Under the tools in Openoffice word it says Languages "other dictionaries available". Click on it and it takes you to a site with all types of foriengs language dictionaries. I found the mexico spanish dictionary and it said get it. On suse it downloaded it and it auto installed it with a program in Yast I believe. Anyway the dictionary was in there when I opened office the next time.
Ubuntu is a different story, I can download it but do not know how to install the Spanish dictionary file to the OpenOffice. Is their a program included with ubuntu (gnome) desktop that will load this file and set it up in Office?

I would like to put the school's new web site that I have runing on localhost on the SUSE box and would appreciate suggestions esp the broad steps involved.Do I install separately Apache, PhP, filezilla, etc. or just install XAMPP?What is the best way to keep the web site updated--ftp or some other way? May 24, 2010This card has been the bane of my existence for a while. In the old days I could get it to work with Fedora using a generic video driver. A friend recommended OpenSuse because of my love for KDE.
The good news is that install went greeeeat. But after that, I once again got a black screen with a line randomly done it. Is there a way to change? I tried changing those resolution options but it didn't work. I have the Windoze driver from Dell's site. Its Dell Inspiron 5160.

Jun 11, 2010Just installed Fedora 13 on a workstation and I seem to be having problemsm with Firefox displaying java.
I make sure that the Java engine was installed and that Java was turn on in the browser. I have also tried creating a link to the lubjava plugin.so and I still get the message to " Install plugin" when I attempt to view a site. I have a Fedora 12 machine that has no problems.

Apr 21, 2010I produce a lot of work under Drupal, Wordpress and Moin. Previously I have always downloaded the software packages for these from the developers website and installed it manually. When I install it manually it is fairly easy to see where files and directories have been created and I just get on with the projects.I've just noticed that the above three packages are available in the repositories. Is it better to install from the repositories or manually with this kind of software?
The reason I ask is because a software package like Gimp just appears in my start menu so I naturally would download it from the repo. But if I download something like Wordpress I can see it is installed through synaptic but does it actually produce any new directories or files in somewhere like /var/www? I'm not sure how I would access the software once it is installed. The W3 Validator for instance, I downloaded in 8.10 but although it was showing installed there was no obvious way to access it.

Jul 19, 2010I'm migrating a site from one VPS to another, and I'm having trouble understanding what I need to do with DNS. I haven't even gotten to the nitty-gritty of it: I don't understand it at a very high level. My host sent me this email explaining what I need to do, and I don't even know what questions to ask.

I have /home/myusername/ & can edit all files (without using sudo), but if I want to edit a file in another directory - i need to use Sudo..

(this is the same structure as the external website I'm going to edit, i want the directory structure to be the same..)
is there a way, I can allow FULL access to the /home/website/ directory - While logged in as /myusername/
(IE So I do not need sudo (or any 'admin' command), to edit the files )

Jan 7, 2011I just got my new vps up and running. I now have one site hosted on the server using drupal. Apache,php, mysql are all set up and working fine. I tried to setup a second site and created another virtual host for it. All permissions are set the same, the two virtual hosts have all the same settings but the new site does not process my php. When I browse to the new site I get a blank page. By viewing the source I can see that the php code is coming in but it is not being processed.
Don't know enough to know what else to check.

2) I'm trying to host a website from an old computer I have. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04; I have installed the LAMP package. I've made it's ip address static on my router (linksys WRT160nv3). I can ssh into it from my desktop on the same home network.
I've been following this guide: URL... I'm trying to make the server public. I've set up DMZ on my router to forward to my server's local ip address.
So now, after going to whatsmyipaddress.com, I can log onto my server from my desktop, which is on my home network, but not anywhere else.I'm fairly sure that my ip address from my ISP is dynamic, but it hasn't changed in the last hour.Let me know if you need anymore details. I'm very new to all of this.
