Ubuntu :: How To Use Conkymail/rythmbox/forecast Packages
Jul 7, 2010
There have been a few capabilities I've wanted to add to conky lately, chiefly mail, music, and forecasts. I installed some debs from [URL]... and I was wondering how I activate them.
I cannot seem to get data to show up in the forecast window. I have my city ID and I also went to weather.com and signed up and got my 2 keys and put them in conkyforecast.config. So here is what I have (the template is someone else s mind you but I have my city data enetered. I'm sure I am overlooking something but what I don't know conkyforecast:
I have the weather indicator installed on 11.04, using unity, at first when I hit forecast, it would should the next 4 days and little pictures above the temp, clouds, rain, sun etc. Now all I see is what looks like a page and a red circle. The pictures are not there anymore. Everything is up to date. I tried uninstalling and installing, that worked for like a few hrs, but now it's not showing the pictures anymore.
I'm trying to setup the conkyforecast.py and I need the Partner ID and the License Key for Xoap. Weather.com has yet to send them to me. How long does it usually take for them to send this information? It has been almost 24 hours since I registered.
ConkyForecast is giving me the way wrong temperature (conky says it is 129 but weather.com says it is 54) it also added an A symbol before the degree symbol.
Code: # conky configuration # edited by Mark Buck (Kaivalagi) <m_buck@hotmail.com> # set to yes if you want Conky to be forked in the background background no
# X font when Xft is disabled, you can pick one with program xfontsel #font 5x7 #font 6x10 #font 7x13 #font 8x13 #font 9x15 #font *mintsmild.se* .....
I have been trying to get current weather using the GNOME weather applet. The ones which are installed by default and you do right-click > Add to Panel kinda thing. Now the problem is I'm getting stale or fixed current weathers as well as forecast. I have been trying for several weeks but with no success.
i am trying to install banshee from source and from apt.......but after install it doesnt show up on menu didnt try rythmbox but help with any one of them is fine.....
I use ubuntu 9.10. Recently two sound control icons appeared in the panel so I tried removing one and now both are gone. Also the rythmbox icon does not appear anymore either after I open the program.
Rythmbox does not open a window on the desktop, but its icon appears in the upper taskbar. I have to click on the icon to open the Rythmbox window to select songs etc.
I'm sure there's a simple fix for this, but I haven't been able to locate it.
I recently installed Ubunut 9.10, and I plugged my Ipod 5g nano in, and Rythmbox detected the music and played everything. When I was done, I unplugged everything. Okay, so I did this iver a few days, but everynow and then, Ubuntu would freeze when my ipod was plugged in. Now when I unplug my ipod, it dosent detect any songs. But when I plug it into any computer (mac, windows, linux, etc.) itdetects the music and i can play it. But when unplugged, my ipod says no music is detected.
I used the script mentioned here [URL] to convert some wma files to mp3 however rhythmbox will not import these. Is this to do with the way they were conveted? Is there a better way or will converting wma to mp3 always result in this? Was going to try soundconverter but I wasn't sure if this would just do the same thing.
I'm running Rythmbox 0.13.1 on Ubuntu 10.10 netbook edition.
My problem is that edits I make to tags sometimes don't save in Rythmbox. After I make the edit and click save it appears to have changed. (IE, the genre will change or the comment section will be different.) But if I reboot Rythmbox it has reverted to its previous state.
Not sure what's going on. Is this something I should fix or should I file a bug report and wait for the next version of Rythmbox?
I am trying to get rythmbox to play my music. I used the yum install from the thread [URL].. It installed the gstreamer, however when I attempt to play music it doesn't unfortunately. Any comments on something simple I am missing or is there some other yum syntax I can use that can take care of this?
I'm having a buggy problem with rythmbox under F14. Sometimes when I start playing a audio cd or mp3 file Rythmbox will play about 2 seconds of the file then pause playback. When this happens it wont let me restart playback. I have to shutdown Rythmbox and restart it and try again.
I have all the latest updates, running on a Dell Latitude D510 laptop.
Ubuntu 9.10 on a 1.4 Ghz system (old HP desktop) I copied over 5000 mp3's to the hard drive. Tell Rythmbox to play all in the music folder and Shuffle is on.It runs for 20 to 30 hours and locks up starting any random mp3 or crashes. On this same box I have Zoneminder running 4 cameras on Monitor only. Zm never crashes. I tried the Amrock player and it dies even sooner with much the same fate.
As of yesterday, afetr an upgrade that recquired restaring the system, I connected my iPhone as i have always done, just to charge the battery with the USB cable. Well, to my surprise, a window other than the camera one that asked about launching FPhoto, appeared; it stated that my iPhone could launch Amarok or Rythmbox, my choice.
Well, to my surprise, the phone is recognized and all the music is loaded in Rythmbox, but in Amarok it takes a very long time to just achieve a 60ish% gain. Now in the desktop an additional icon appears one of a generic Nokia type phone.I have searched, and am aware that Lucid will have support for my iPhone, its just that it is happening now.
I have 10.04 (kernel 2.6.32-22) and have noticed that whenever i have Rhythmbox running; the keyboard stops working in any apps. As soon as I close Rhythmbox, they work again!
(using 10.10) and I just can't get my iPod Touch to sync with my Rythmbox.
When I plug my iPod into the USB port, a message is prompted, which tells me it detected a digital music device and asks me to select a program to access it. Then I select "Rythmbox" and Rythmbox opens.
My iPod's name shows on the left bar, but when I select it, no songs appear, and also I can't drag songs from my library to my iPod.
I aready tried Banshee and Amrok and it didn't work on those either.
The other day I got a SMC Network EZ-Stream Internet SMCWAA-G radio device and I am having some issue serving music to it from Linux.
It says it runs with MusicMatch or Rhaposdy on Windows. I want to run this from my Linux CentOS system.
So I was looking at Rythmbox which is on the OS already .
I have my mp3 and dvs on a Buffalo link station. I can mount the drive and see the music files OK at the browser level.
When I go into Rythmbox and select the files to be loaded into the library they appear to be grayed out.
Also I cannot select an entire older. I want to take everything in my mp3 dir that has my music broken out via artist and type etc.
Can this SW also be used to server out to my device like MusicMatch or Rhapsody? How do I configure the sw to be a server and run in the background?
I dont want to leave a windows system up on-line just for Music. I prefer Linux.
Is there other sw that might be better fro this function?
The device works fine on the network and gets Internet radio fine.
I just looked at the error file for Rythmbox and notice an error of
The GStreamer plugins to decode "MP3" files cannot be found
What is that? I tried a yum install gstreamer And I got the following : Setting up Install Process Package gstreamer-0.10.20-3.el5.i386 already installed and latest version Nothing to do
I have a Creative Zen Micro MP3 player (software version 2.21.02) which worked almost in a plug and play fashion with Rhythmbox (0.12) on Jaunty (9.04 / i386). Almost : I just had to make sure that Nautilus had not mounted the Zen as an external medium. Otherwise everything worked as expected.
Now I tried to reuse it on my Karmic Koala (amd64) laptop with Rhythmbox (0.12.7). I've been through several posts but nothing seem to make it work properly : If the Zen is unmounted before starting Rhythmbox it will appear in the media column and it will even show the songs; I can drag and drop songs from the Zen to the Rhythmbox Music library (very slow); but I can't play any song directly from the Zen.Any thoughts on how to get it to :
- speed up transfers between the Zen and the Music library - play songs from the Zen
I've been trying to get my ipod to work under floola, gtkpod or rythmbox.I'm currently running Crunchbang. Is there any other way I can add songs to my iPod?Do I need to reformat my iPod?Since I'm completely new to Linux.I'll read whatever needs to be read and will take suggestions of any kind regarding learning Unix and whatever else is out there.
I am trying to use Rythmbox to replace windows media player, in Ubuntu 10.04. So of course, I needed to import all my music. So in Rythmbox I go to Music>Import Folder and then I simply select the correct folder, which is on a different drive. And sometimes, that works. even though it won't remember that I did it once I close Rythmbox. Other times, when I do that, Rythmbox simply closes right then and there, and has to be reopened. I don't really know what is going on here, other than what I would call a bug. But it never actually keeps the music file that I imported. I always have to re-import it, every time I open Rythmbox.
