View 2 RepliesI am using Fedora 12 and Thunderbird 3.0.4 version I am trying the connect it to the IMAP server but it does not work (no authentication).
- IMAP with SSL
- SMTP with none
Though it works for other email client (Evolution). I there a problem with the thunderbird itself or am I missing something special to configure that I dont know of?
Seems quite a lot out there are finding it simple enough getting Thunderbird/Davmail to work, yet I've been at it for days now and still no luck. I've finally given up altogether with Evolution last week, as it seems from weeks of reading and trying, there just isn't a solution for it to work with Exchange Server mail. Yes I tried brutus and its web sites are down so to get additions such as Brutus Keyring is impossible. (its all a long story for another day)Evolution is now uninstalled and in the bin.So now Im into the 5th day trying with Davmail and Thunderbird to get emails from my company mail exchange server.I am sure Im going to have better luck with Thunderbird from what Ive read so far, but it still eludes me how to set it up with Devmail and the information Ive found so far is not very clear. I am sure I am just missing the most simplest step somewhere along the line.
Can someone please post a detailed instruction on how to configure both Thunderbird and Devmail to work together and also how to test if Davmails is working?I can easily access my company emails via OWA with URl... from my home internet, so no issue there. From the efforts of trying to get Evol to work where it came up with the error. "Evolution connector is not compatible with Exchange 5.5", I assume our company server is running an MS exchange server version 2003 or older.
I got the impression after attending a LinuxCon session that Exchange 2007 support in Evolution was a solved problem in SUSE. Is the same true in openSUSE 11.3? What packages do I need to install to enable Exchange email/calendar/contact sync in Evolution? And does it depend on IMAP?
View 9 Replies View Related"requires installation of untrusted packages" roadblock in updating Ubuntu10.10, I downloaded and installed 10.04 LTS, hoping it would be reasonably hassle free. I've used it prior to my 10.10 upgrade, so I was very surprised to learn it doesn't support Mozilla Thunderbird email client, which I've been using on every Ubuntu version since I started with the 9.0x series.
Does any body know how to get around this? According to the Software center, Thunderbird is available for installation, but the install fails saying (no surprises!!) "Requires installation of untrusted packages"
Thanks to Lucid not working properly on i845, i855 and other 8xx chips, had to re-install Karmic on my mum's computer.I saved all the data from her old install and I ve managed to get all her old emails from thunderbird, but I cant import her address book.In Thunderbird/tools/import/addressbooks it only allows importing of LDIF, .tab, .csv and .txt files, but I cant find any of these files in any of the Thunderbird, .Thunderbird, Mozilla-Thunderbird or Mozilla folders in Home folder or anywhere, all I can find is "abook.mab" which IS supposed to be her address book, but when I try and import it the entries are blank and/or indecipherable (prob cos not a compatible file type).
Its one of those "simple" things to do, thats taken hours and hours of time, but that I cant actually find out how to do.
I had a portable apps version of Thunderbird (windows) that runs off a thumb drive and wanted to take the settings and transfer them to my Thunderbird that's on my Linux computer.
This is what I did:
First, I installed thunderbird on my Ubuntu 10.04 Linux box and opened it, and closed it (so that it would create the /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder in the user account).
Then, I renamed the linux /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder to .thunderbird_ORIGINAL
Then, I created a new /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder
Then, I took the windows e:ThunderbirdPortableDataprofile folder and copied it to the /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder.
Then, I looked into the /home/<username>/.thunderbird_ORIGINAL folder and wrote down the name of the folder with the ".default" extension.
Then, I renamed the profile folder (that came from the windows e:ThunderbirdPortableData folder) "<name-I-wrote-down>.default".
And then, I copied the profiles.ini folder from /home/<username>/.thunderbird_ORIGINAL to the /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder.
I opened up Thunderbird in Linux and everything seems fine! (I'll definitely be keeping a backup just in case)
My question is: is this fine and dandy, or a recipe for disaster?
I run version 10.04 GNOME. My problem is (after substantial searching) that I need to have both users ('juliusz' and 'sarah') running Thunderbird but with the same profile (settings, email, accounts etc. preferably of 'juliusz'). The only results on the internet are share Thunderbird between Windows and Ubuntu.
I have two users juliusz and sarah. I need either of them to have the same profile, always in synch whenever they logon to own account. When I tried to edit sarah's /home/sarah/.mozilla-thunderbird/profile.ini by inserting: Path=/home/juliusz/.mozilla-thunderbird/xxxxxxx.default after i run Thunderbird for 'sarah' I get message: "Thunderbird is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Thunderbird process, or restart your system." I checked with "ps aux" there is no Thunderbird running in sarah's session. There is no Thunderbird running in juliusz's session when I reloged to juliusz.
I have a HP laptop which can support 1600x900. But after I install ubuntu 9.10 on it, it can only support up to 1280x700. My laptop has a Nvidia graphics card. And i am using GNOME as my desktop environment.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have installed 11.4, and it seems (seemed) to work OK so far. I installed Thunderbird via the opensuse "1 click install". the installation ran smoothly, but now a click on the Thunderbird icon does not activate any mail client; the only success is that Thunderbird icon jumps joyfully and then disappears.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to find out when QME2572 (Qlogic) card became support by the kernel. We have a RHEL 5.1 system that is moving to new hardware, however the kernel at this release doesn't support the new hardware, due to the Qlogic card change. I tired the Redhat KB and Bugzilla. Is there a Kernel change list etc I can search. Never really played around with the kernel too much so I'm just after some pointers for looking up this information. Offically its not supported until Redhat 5.3, I'm trying trying to research kernel info so I can tell the customer they have to upgrade.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI had decided to give Ubuntu a go on my work notebook. At work we use Exchange 2003 (at the moment) for email. I had open Evolution and tried to configure it. I got the welcome screen (wizzard), I clicked Forward and then I skipped Restore from backup (since this is a new install) and clicked Forward. It asked for identity and I gave the details (as shown in the first screenshot) then hit Forward and made the necesary settings as shown in the second screenshot. Then I click Authenticate and it asks for my exchange password. i type it and then it gives me the error "Could not locate server.". I am sure the server name is correct and I am sure it resolves correctly (tried it with firefox and works just fine). I also tried username as follows:
user@DOMAIN.RO
DOMAINuser
I am trying to set up my school e-mail in evolution. They use exchange 2007. When I set it up on my iPod touch, it wouldn't work unless I put in my exchange domain. Where would I put that in evolution?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI 've got an hotmail (live-mail) account, that I'm using on my iPod with Microsoft Exchange. This is really working fine, so I was very happy when I read, that you can use this feature with Evolution Mail.
Now my Problem is, that the Settings I use on my iPod won't work with Evolution.
I think the Problem is the OWA URL cause whatever I do it can't connect to this Server.
I'll give you the Settings, that work on my iPod:
E-Mail: xxx@hotmail.de
Server: m.hotmail.com
User-Name: xxx@hotmail.de
Password: xxx
SSL: ON
Does anybody know the OWA URL of the Hotmail-Server or does every Account have one of it's own?
I've got an Ubuntu 10.04 system running Evolution, and I'm trying to integrate it with a slightly older Exchange server. I got the basics all working, email, calendaring, etc. The trouble I'm having is that it crashes pretty frequently, and even using the DavMail tool doesn't help. DavMail just ends up crashing instead!
It seems to me that there is some piece of integration that is broken, or just not set up right. Has anyone seen this? Where it "works", but is very unstable? We've got a few people at my office with this issue on a couple different distros.
I seem to have a problem that a lot of people have: My work uses exchange server 5.5/2007. Does evolution still not support this? I tried to set it up and it tells me that it won't work with exchange 5.5.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an Ubuntu 10.10 in my work environment and have issues handling the Exchange 2007 server's public calender. My outgoing server is SMTP | Incoming server is POP3 (my office have disabled IMAP and run MAPI). First I tried evolution but it said ""The server is running Exchange 5.5, evolution-exchange connector supports 2000 and 2003 Server" Installed thunderbird and i am happy with it. The only thing which i would like to do is access my exchange public calender and firefox will not be able to do it in OWA.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a server here with MS Exchange. The customer wants this website I've made for him, but the site is using apache/drupal/mysql.
I went ahead and installed debian in place of a virtual XP installation that was wasting space. It's all setup and running.
His old website, which was running on IISv6, is connected and able to access the MS Exchange server, via /exchange.
I need to be able to do this with his new website.
I have some messages that will show briefly then disappear.
I believe the ones that disapear are addressed to suppport rather than directly to me
my Outlook on my windows box still show's the messages along with OWA
There are no filter's applied
I have just setup evolution to pull in my exchange emails using MAPI. All seems to be well, except that it isn't pulling down my calendar or tasks. I understood that it was supposed to automatically do this, is this correct? We are using exchange 2005 I believe, so wonder if this is specifically the issue.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've tried, I really have. Been using Ubuntu for years at home, love it. Been trying to use it at work, but I will always come back to Windows for 1 simple reason. There is no Outlook replacement capable of working with Exchange.Don't suggest Evolution, its a regular crasher on my system, OWA has promise but need re-written from the ground up seemingly.
Canonical is looking for ways to monetise Ubuntu, create a propriatory Thunderbird/Evolution plugin (Thunderbird is my choice), with a free trial for 30 days. If after 30 days it doesn't crash, I'll pay 50 for it.I find it really astounding that this isnt brought up more often.
I downloaded Evolution last night but I am unable to connect to MS Exchange 2003. Does anyone know of a sure fire way to get connected?

It's not a 2007 or 2010 Exchange server, which is what most companies use these days.
