So I was wondering if there are some good general Linux blogs or Ubuntu blogs or sites that you guys use. My definition of good is:
-Fresh content(It seems like when ever I find something I want to try, the info is from like 2006)
-Good site design(Again something not from 2006)
Something like a Lifehacker that focuses on Linux or Ubuntu would be cool.
*I'm an Ubuntu karmic user
*I use Firefox us my default browsers , along with chrome $ opera.
*but there is problem with some sites which is not supported by the browser when i open these sites this text will appear " you need internet explorer 5 or later to open this site"
*i try to use IE tab inside Firefox but it not support my platform .
* i don't want to use wine for installing IE because i don't like it.
more exp.i have registered to an Arabic forum . when i want to post anew thread . it tell me to install IE 5 or later . i think the forum was built by asp language
so any one give me help no matter for any other browser , opera ,chrome.
Is there a way you could update content on a web page from an incoming email on a linux server? e.g. you email your comments to an email address and the contents of your email (comments) appear on a web page. (preferably in real time but some delay acceptable)
View 9 Replies View RelatedEvery time after I resume from suspend, firefox freezes up to 7sec at "flashed" sites.That is very annoying. If I disable the adobe flash plugin, it is smooth without flash. If I restart my laptop, everything goes flawlessly. It did not if I restart the X service.This also affects the chromium on both the smooth scroll and the freezing at flashed sites. Additional information: Opensuse11.4 32-bit KDE.

I want to only search main tarball and delete it if older than 7 days.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIn the past week or so I've noticed some weird network behaviour. I find accessing some sites such as Amazon, Paypal, and Bigstockphoto really slow. Sometimes the page will not load at all. Other sites are fine. The problem sites are not a problem for others on my LAN at home. When I try to open the problem sites, I can see in Firestarter blocked connections coming from 2.1(8/9).xxx.xxx on various ports such as 36007. This only happens for the problem sites. I attached a typical output from firestarter.
This happens with Firfeox or Chrome. Using Ubuntu 10.10

I have to ubuntu machine (9.10 and 10.4) with a openvpn tunnel between them.This is the situation:

UbuntuA is not the gateway for networkA. UbuntuB is the gateway for NetworkB.I need to comunicate between pc on networkB e those on networkA.This is the "ping situation" (no pc tested has an active firewall):

I've been on a quest to enable full routing through my openvpn tunnel between my office and the colo. Masquerading will work, however it will throw off anything key based and makes a lot of things just more difficult and vague in general. Is there an easy way to do this via iptables? I tried using quagga hoping it would magically solve my problems, however it does not seem to do my routing for me . I just did a basic static route within zebra...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have three locations with a central office connected to two remote locations. At the central office I run on a cisco asa 5505 two site to site vpns. The remote end of the first site is a checkpoint firewall , and the remote end of the second site is racoon on debian. Both sites are up and working. However, where at the first site traffic goes both ways, at the second site it only works from the central office to the remote office.
For example, I can ssh from a host in the central office to a host in the first remote site (through checkpoint firewall,) then ssh back from that host at the remote office to any host in the central office. In contrast, after I ssh from a host in the central office to a host in the second remote office (through racoon), I cannot see the central office hosts (ping the ip address of a central office host, ssh, etc. all fail.) The vpn settings at the central office (the cisco asa 5505) are identical. So it seems to me that some routing magic is missing on the host running racoon at the second remote office. Where would such setting reside? racoon config files? iptables?
Maybe a site-to-site Ouija board connection.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI dual boot XP and FC14 and have 2 routers. I can connect and ping one of these routers when I'm in FC and I have an IP address I just can't load any websites. When I connect to the other router (my main router) it works fine. When I boot into XP and connect to the problem router I can load pages fine. It's only when I'm on FC14 and connect to the problem router that I can't load pages even though I have an IP and can ping around.

The company desided to create a corporate Website on a remote hosting and desided that the site's domain should be company.net which is same as local network's domain name. So now it is not possible to reach that corporate website from within the company's local network because, as I guess, bind9 which is installed on above menioned PDC looks for company.net on a local webserver. Is there a possibility to let people from this local network browse the remote site?

I would expect to be able to browse to the subdirectory which I wish to access with my launcher. However, the Browse... button brings up a window which is titled "Choose a file..." and which will only "Open" a file, not a subdirectory.Is this a bug I should report or just an example of poor user interface design? If the latter, is the issue with the Create Launcher program (for bringing up a file locater) or with the File Locater program (which should have the option of selecting a location as well as a file?

I have found the most simple way to get mp3 file
(1)Sometimes you get address ending with .mp3 so just copy the whole URI and use in terminal wget "PasteWhatYouCopied"
(2)But in the link I have mentioned there is no mp3 link in address bar.
Here I found out in totem-plugin-viewer(that is the thing that plays your file in browser).Just Click the button next to sound and select copy
In example taken above it is [url]
And use just like before wget "PasteWhatYouCopied" -O output.wma
Also notice that you have the song as output.wma in current folder of terminal.
(3)If there is a video on webpage then either wait for it to get completely downloaded & get it from /tmp.Remember don't close the page till video gets downloaded completely & you copied it from /tmp then only close that tab.
(4)There is a firefox addon 'unplug' which can help for flv because after sending file to download via unplug you can close that tab.
