View 10 Replies View RelatedFor some reason Update Manager is not installing updates as of yesterday.I have it set to check daily and notify if updates are available. It has been working without issues for well over a year now.
Update Manager tells me updates are available and presents the list of security, recommended, and other updates. All are selected to update, but when I select Install Updates in Update Manager it returns with a Reading Package Information window overlaid on the main Update Manager window - building dependency tree then reading state information and dumps me back to the main Update Manager window without performing any update actions.
i am using ubuntu 9.04..i was unable to open videos on ......it said you dont have the flash player.i then downloaed tolhe flash player(for ubuntu 8.04 +).but after i double clicking on the package and authorising the installation,i keep getting the error message that 3 packages were not downloaded:check your network connections or installation medium.But all the while i was able to open all pages and download othe software.But 1 more thing,i am not able to download new updates>i get the same message then too.Unable to locate.

It tells me that I have 351 updates available. when I open this the updates are shown and each have a number.Mainly 2's and 3's. when I do press the install update button, it gives me the following message:
warning you are about to install software that can not be authenticated....
This message worries me so I have not done any updates for a loooooong time.
What shall I do? How can I tell what is malicious and what is not? does anyone out there know?
updates manager constantly crash i tried gnome in safe mode and it doesn't work so i need some way to update the os untill hopefully one update would fix the update.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just installed fedora 14 for 2 weeks. After installing the Tetom plugin I can't download video and Mp3 files from my desired sites. When I enter to those sites a Plug-in (which I'm not sure that is it related to Tetom or not) starts and tries to play that video or MP3. But before installing that pliging I didn't have this problem and when I press on download link, It opened a pop-up window and asked for downloading and saving location. However I unistalled that pluging but my problem doesn't solve. I attached two pictures. The first picture shows a page which when I'm going to download a movei it goes to a "Code Page" and I can not download !! and the second one shows when I'm trying to download a Mp3 file. As you can see in the second picture there is a new Icon at the left hand of Greasemonkey Icon which i think problem is with that one !

I originally tried using a torrent download to try and get a DVD ISO image. When I tried to copy the image to a DVD, my software said something about the file not being supported and the file vanished from the download location.
So now I have tried looking for just an ISO file instead of a torrent file and when I try to download it my browser just hangs, I get the "Save" or "Open" option and choose "Save", nothing happens. The option window blanks out.
So how do I download a DVD ISO image for CentOS 5?

I've been searching this forum and the rest of the web for days now for a good software for a CLI Debian installation that will take links to file sharing sites such as Rapidshare, Megaupload, Uploading, DepositFiles etc and download them when possible (wait for timer to run out and so on).The only thing i've found so far is Slimrat but i dont seem to get it working with WWW::Mechanize even after trying to update it through CPAN

I can connect to the internet I can download things from the internet but anything pretending to ubuntu I just can't I've tried everything and it just doesn't work. I have an internet connection and i tried switching servers even clicked select best server and this is the response "No suitable server was found please check your internet connection" I've clicked and unclicked things I just don't know what else to do.

I have a touchscreen panel pc that boots a version of Debian. I have very little experience with Linux in general. I need to quickly get up to speed with this operating system and Debian in general. The panel pc uses an ARM 9 processor, which I need to program to control a lighting system. View 2 Replies View RelatedIn the past week or so I've noticed some weird network behaviour. I find accessing some sites such as Amazon, Paypal, and Bigstockphoto really slow. Sometimes the page will not load at all. Other sites are fine. The problem sites are not a problem for others on my LAN at home. When I try to open the problem sites, I can see in Firestarter blocked connections coming from 2.1(8/9).xxx.xxx on various ports such as 36007. This only happens for the problem sites. I attached a typical output from firestarter.
This happens with Firfeox or Chrome. Using Ubuntu 10.10
I am about to loose my internet soon, I am not sure for how long, but I am curious, Can I go to another computer that has internet and download updates for my computer, take them back to my computer and install the updates so I can stay up to date?

I have a laptop running 8.04LTS very well and have been keeping it up to date. I'd like to have the ability to re-install 8.04 at a later time if I had to reformat the laptop. I have the latest 8.04 CD image (8.04.2 I think) but of course there have been many updates since then. Is there a way for me to capture all these updates so that I can reapply them at a later time after a fresh install of 8.04?
