Does anyone know the command line option to show rhythmbox?
Basically I just want to make a shortcut to show the rhythmbox screen as opposed to clicking the icon and selecting show rhythmbox
rhythmbox-client --(option) --no-start
Does anyone know how? I want to add the command line option to the login to. So, I have Gnome, KDE and command line.

I am having a problem with running the mplayer dvdnav option from the command line or terminal. I run the command and this is what I get:

I went on the forums and they say that some of the packages built to support dvdnav are out of date and that they should be updated. By the way I am running ubuntu 10.04 lucid lynx with lxde as my desktop manager.
I have many folders with many subfolders. All I want it to get the folder name and the first subfolder. I tried using ls -R but this give me more than I want it. Let say I have:
dir1/subdir1/sub_1_1/file.a
dir1/subdir1/sub_1_1/file.a2
dir1/subdir1/sub_1_1/file.a3

All I want when I execute the command is to show me:
dir1/subdir1
dir1/subdir1
dir1/subdir2
[code]....
This has to also show the line count. I can get it to show the files but not the line count. What is the single command used to identify only the matching count of all lines within files under the /etc directory that contain the word „HOST? List only the files with matches and suppress any error messages.

my Setup is Fedora 14 x64 + radeon hd 4830 i've downloaded .run package from ati site with latest driver for x64 systems. installed it, but didn't edited grub.conf becouse i didn't understood anything there (probably didn't spent enough time to get things understand) Now i've lost possibility to enter my Fedora system. during boot it lost it's modern blue boot screen (with filling drop), it was replaced by standard old boot screen with triple-color stripe. after this boot screen monitor start blinking going on and off. and on last step i'm getting "Fedora 14 boot bla bla bla something" on screen. nothing works except Ctrl+Alt+Delete. system reboots showing successful daemons shutting sequence. How can i edit grub menu from initial grub screen is it possible to it's own 'e' option or 'c' from grub command line?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an iPhone 3GS with Firmware 3.1.3 and I'd like to sync the music over rhythmbox in lucid (64bit).
The phone does mount in nautilus and I can also mount it with ifuse to use it witz gtkpod. However it does not show up (it only blinks and disappears) in the list at the left in rhythmbox though I have MTP and iPod Plugins enabled.
I thought I'd ask after having waited several weeks and none of the gvfsd updates changed anything
So my brother starts complaining to me about rhythmbox not showing his Ipod. Well I come home and he's right. I restarted rhythmbox and nothing. Disconnect and connect the ipod again, nothing. Works in Banshee, but I hate using banshee right now because it's extremely crowded.
So yeah, checked the plugins area, and it says Ipod support is checked.
I also use my creative zen with rhythmbox, and it seems to be working with that. Just the Ipod isn't working with it.
I have an iPod Touch 2nd Gen with 3.1.3, Ubuntu 10.04, and the most up to date software, and my iPod doesn't appear in Rhythmbox. It shows up with Nautilus, so I know its being read.

I am trying to install ubuntu on my brand new fresh out of the box Asus Eee PC 1018P but the problem is when I hit esc during the boot to get to bios to select boot from usb, the usb doesn't show up as an option. I also tried hitting f2 and making it an option to boot from usb but that doesn't seem to work either.

Both systems used Wubi installations of Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop for x86 on Windows XP. In both cases, Ubuntu completed the installation process. Upon reboot, we have the options to choose between Windows XP and Ubuntu. However, once we enter into Grub, only the Windows XP option shows.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just discovered that you can automount an ext4 filesystem with acl enabled by running "tune2fs -o acl". (I knew about tune2fs but did not dare to use it until now). However, the acl mount option does not show up in /etc/mtab and /proc/mounts. Can I ignore this, or is there a way of telling the system about the actual mount options?
Edit: I can do "tune2fs -l <device> | grep acl | awk '{print $4}'" and if that isn't empty I can update /etc/mtab with "mount -f -o remount,acl <device>", but like the udev rule I previously messed with this seems lumberingly unelegant to me.
Im trying to install GNOME-3 on top of kde and have GNOME DE option show up in kdm. I have SUSE DVD and have set local(OD) repository priority to 80 in order to get most packages from DVD. Inspite of that YaST pulls packages from online repositories, it may be the latest version. I have 8 MbPS dsl but the YaST download speeds are around 500B. How do I change mirrors of repositories. In my opinion this has nothing to do with ipv6, I use ipv6 for openBSD and it get good browsing speeds. Im trying to set kdm4 login manager but it doesnt start after enabling for YaST-/etc/sysconfig.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't have a "CPU MHz" line in my /proc/cpuinfo. I wonder if this is because I installed a 32-bit Ubuntu (10.10, Maverick) on 64-bit (dual core) AMD hardware. Various apps depend on the "CPU MHz" value and simply refuse to run without it. Is it, indeed, a 32-bit software on 64-bit hardware thing? If so, is there any fix short of replacing (clean-installing) the whole system in 64-bit?
