Ubuntu :: Change The Font Color Of The Text Of The Bootloader In Grub2?

I'm trying to change the font color of the text of the bootloader in Grub2. I'm running 9.10. I successfully edited the Grub cfg file change the colors of the Grub menu, but I'd like to change the text color as I watch the modules load and can't seem to do it. I'd also like to password protect the bootloader if possible. I installed startupmanager but the new version won't allow these changes. I like to see my modules as they load and wanted to change the color from white to blue.

IS there a way to change the Font color of the top menu (File, edit, view History, etc) in firefox or all windows? I'm using a skin that I love but cannot read the menus at the top because the color is blending in.

I'm using the Divergence theme, and I'm loving the transparent top panel. However, the font is dark, so I can't see anything! How can I change the font so it's white, but without changing other system fonts?

I found an old thread from 2005 on how to change the font color on the gnome-panel.
It worked for all applets on the panel except for the notification area and me-menu where the font remains dark.
How can i force the font to a light color on these two applets?
Also as i used the "clarlooks" theme for controls the status indicator is duplicated:
There is one instance in the me-menu and another in the notification area. How can i remove either? I find that the gnome-panel is a real hassle since 10.04. Not only it is not logically constructed, but it is inconsistent and not customisation friendly.

Is it possible to change the grub 2 menu font size? i have a higher resolution and the entries have very tiny and hard to read. I know i could lower my current resolution but i don't want to decrease the text and picture quality.

I really don't know what to call it, but I want to change the color of text that appears before you type in whatever your input is.
For example:

I would want "negrabee@david-desktop:~$" to be in a different color. When you have whole bunch of commands and text in a full screen terminal, it gets really annoying to have to look for where you're entering the command so changing the color.

I'm interested in changing the console text color. I can change the console color easily in X, but I'd also like to change the color of the text when my computer first boots up (like right after LILO).Is this something I can modify without rebuilding the kernel? Actually I want to log a bug but I don't really know what package to log it against. The problem is that by default Pango is choosing the AR PL UMing CN as the font to render Japanese text when the current font doesn't have Japanese glyphs. But AR PL UMing CN is a Chinese font, so Chinese glyphs for kanji characters (e.g., 覚) are displayed. This is jarring and confusing for Japanese readers.
This situation mostly arises when you have mixed English and Japanese text. Some applications (for instance Firefox) will allow you to select a font for Asian text. Thus if the text contains only Asian characters it will use the font you select, rather than what Pango would have selected. But if it is a mix of English and Japanese, you end up with the wrong glyphs.
Other environments (like gnome-terminal, or a gedit) have difficulties as well. Since the primary interface requires mono spaced roman characters you run into difficulty selecting fonts. Most Japanese fonts only have proportional roman characters. This means that if use a nice roman font and use Japanese text (for instance file names), you end up with Chinese glyphs. What I want is a mechanism that will work across all of Gnome for selecting the font I want to use for Chinese characters. That way I can choose either Japanese or Chinese glyphs.
I realize this is low priority. It only bugs me a little, but many of my Japanese colleagues are put off from using Ubuntu because they are confused by the Chinese glyphs that pop up on my screen from time to time. As I said, I'd like to file a bug, but I'm not sure against what package...

Awhile back, I made my desktop a hackintosh. The only way to boot it was Chameleon, which I was totally fine with because it looked nice. Currently, I removed OS X, and now only have Windows 7 and Ubuntu (10.04) installed. My gripe is that GRUB2 looks butt-ugly... it's still the basic white-text on black-background, without any graphics or anything. Is it possible to remove GRUB2 and replace it with Chameleon? Or maybe can Ubuntu start using Chameleon as the bootloader in future releases?

I'm relatively new to Ubuntu, I've installed it in Virtual Box and through Wubi on other computers but this was the first time that I've done a live install on my production computer. I had problems from the get go, I was using a Live CD of 10.04 (64 bit AMD) to install it and when it got to the part about choosing a partition no drives would show up at all. Eventually after some searching around, I discovered that Using an Alternate install CD would work. I did that, installing Ubuntu into one of the free partitions I had set up prior to this. Eventually my system turned on but the monitor went to sleep so I had to hit E on the grubmenu and change something to nomodeset (or something like that) so that I could see the screen. I installed Compiz and it was all good from there.
Except for One issue, I cannot boot Into windows at all, it doesn't show up on the bootloader even though the partition shows up in Gparted. I've tried updating Grub2 with no results, here are the results of Sudo fdisk -l

I just made a fresh installation of Ubuntu Karmic, but I can't set up my screen resolution correctly. My monitor resolution (1680 x 1050) is not listed in 'Display Preferences' or in my card's proprietary software (ATI Catalyst). The maximum resolution I can select is 1440 x 900.xrandr detects a maximum resolution of 1440 x 1440 and displays the same list of screen resolutions as 'Display Preferences'.
But when I enter the line:
xrandr --newmode "1680x1050_60.00" 146.25 1680 1784 1960 2240 1050 1053 1059 1089 -hsync +vsync
I always get this message:

I have extracted the files from a bootable CD to /dev/sdc2/bootable/winpwrec with the hope of booting from the hard drive. I have read the grub.cfg file and a couple of guides here and I'm still not sure what I'm doing. Is there any chance someone can tell me what I need to add to the grub.cfg file to add this to the boot menu? I am pretty well-versed in computers but I'm new to Linux and I'm still trying to get acquainted with the OS, terminology, and the boot loader. I'm using Ubuntu 9.10, if that matters.

I have a Dell Studio 14 laptop with Windows 7 64bit preinstalled. The processor is core i5 and the machine has 4GB RAM. I freed 25GB of memory from my Hard disk and tried to install Ubuntu 10.04 (AMD). Everything went fine. I restarted and Logged into Ubuntu. It worked like a charm. Then I restarted to Windows7. This also worked well as expected.
But, when I rebooted again, I got a black screen saying that �No modules found. Press any key to restart�
When I press a key, it says �No operating system found�, probably after checking through a network (it printed lines starting with PXE).
I tried exactly in the same way with Ubuntu 8.04 in my machine, and this worked without any problem. The Bootloader was not corrupted after restarting from Windows. I noticed the problem with Ubuntu 9.10 and 10.04. I feel like a problem regarding the bootloader version. AFAIK, 9.10 and 10.04 is using GRUB2 when 8.04 use the old version of GRUB. Will I have to switch to the legacy GRUB? (I would love to keep using GRUB2). If yes, I would like to know How.

I am testing some boot splash screens but the ones I like most are darker and therefore the black font color during boot, well, shows on dark grey or black background, so I can't see.
I would like to change the font color of the messages, but not the results (green=DONE, red=FAILED, etc., I don't want to change that, only the messages like "doing fast boot", "Loading CPUfreq", and all the ones loading stuff, mounting, etc.).
Apparently I need to edit /lib/lsb/init-functions?
I found a few examples on google, mostly for debian based and the ones I have seen are far more complex than the very simple one opensuse uses. So I am stuck here. 11.2 version.
