I keep forgetting to change the font color to black in OpenOffice.org in Lucid. This is a pain when printing, but the bigger problem is with writing up formulae. How do you change colors in Math (or make it default to black)?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI always enjoyed the feature in Microsoft Word when in "Print Layout" where I could make the end of one page touch the beginning of the next page so the pages could be viewed seamlessly. There appears to be no way to do this in Writer Anybody know if this is possible in Writer?
As a work around I use WEb Layout to view documents. But everytime I reopen OpenOffice it defaults to Print Layout. Anybody know how to make it default to Web Layout when it is opened?

IS there a way to change the Font color of the top menu (File, edit, view History, etc) in firefox or all windows? I'm using a skin that I love but cannot read the menus at the top because the color is blending in.

View 3 Replies View RelatedActually I want to log a bug but I don't really know what package to log it against. The problem is that by default Pango is choosing the AR PL UMing CN as the font to render Japanese text when the current font doesn't have Japanese glyphs. But AR PL UMing CN is a Chinese font, so Chinese glyphs for kanji characters (e.g., 覚) are displayed. This is jarring and confusing for Japanese readers.
This situation mostly arises when you have mixed English and Japanese text. Some applications (for instance Firefox) will allow you to select a font for Asian text. Thus if the text contains only Asian characters it will use the font you select, rather than what Pango would have selected. But if it is a mix of English and Japanese, you end up with the wrong glyphs.
Other environments (like gnome-terminal, or a gedit) have difficulties as well. Since the primary interface requires mono spaced roman characters you run into difficulty selecting fonts. Most Japanese fonts only have proportional roman characters. This means that if use a nice roman font and use Japanese text (for instance file names), you end up with Chinese glyphs. What I want is a mechanism that will work across all of Gnome for selecting the font I want to use for Chinese characters. That way I can choose either Japanese or Chinese glyphs.
I realize this is low priority. It only bugs me a little, but many of my Japanese colleagues are put off from using Ubuntu because they are confused by the Chinese glyphs that pop up on my screen from time to time. As I said, I'd like to file a bug, but I'm not sure against what package...

I found an old thread from 2005 on how to change the font color on the gnome-panel.
It worked for all applets on the panel except for the notification area and me-menu where the font remains dark.
How can i force the font to a light color on these two applets?
Also as i used the "clarlooks" theme for controls the status indicator is duplicated:
There is one instance in the me-menu and another in the notification area. How can i remove either? I find that the gnome-panel is a real hassle since 10.04. Not only it is not logically constructed, but it is inconsistent and not customisation friendly.
I am working with a template.css file, and I want to change the color of the font in part of the header from black to blue. Is there syntax that can be inserted into the file to accomplish this?

This means that if I send them as they are, they will almost certainly be viewed in a completely inappropriate font. I have tried creating a copy converted to Times New Roman, but the result is inferior. I am also uncomfortable with this because I tend to end up with the originals the copies out of sync. I would rather have just one doc file for each type of CV.What I would like to know is:
1. Is there a serif font that all MS Office users are certain to have that is a less scrappy looking alternative to Times New Roman? It doesn't have to look identical to Linux Libertine, but none of the other MS core fonts look right.
2. Is there a way of specifying a generic serif font as a substitution in Word docs created in OpenOffice Writer like there is in HTML?

I successfully edited the Grub cfg file change the colors of the Grub menu, but I'd like to change the text color as I watch the modules load and can't seem to do it. I'd also like to password protect the bootloader if possible. I installed startupmanager but the new version won't allow these changes. I like to see my modules as they load and wanted to change the color from white to blue.

In all previous versions of KDE I had Console8x16 set as KDE font for all cases (Settings->Appearance->Fonts). After tonight upgrade, this (only!) font is not working. I can see it in font manager, I can set it in ...Appearance->Fonts, but actually remains default font. Two of about 30 attempts somehow (can not reproduce) succeeded to set "console 12" font, but it disappeared after restart.
1. What can be the problem in 4.4?
2. In /usr/share/fonts tere are 3 files named console8x16.pcf, console8x8.pcf and console9x15.pcf, but in the font list in Appearance->Fonts I can see only 2 - one named "Console" (seems to be 8x16 and "console" (8x8). File 9x15 does not appear at all. Why?
Last results of attempts: cannot use console font in part of areas, while part works OK. For example: kdevelop editor, kmail message body text works OK. But kmail other parts - does not. The most interesting is that although setting the kmail body message text to console displays the message body text correctly (with console font), but the example message in "Configure kmail" dialogue "The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over The Lazy Dog" is displayed in the default font, as if there is no console font!
Does anyone know how to change the font color for the clock applet? I have a dark background on my desktop and want the panel to be transparent but I can't read the clock.

I just made a fresh installation of Ubuntu Karmic, but I can't set up my screen resolution correctly. My monitor resolution (1680 x 1050) is not listed in 'Display Preferences' or in my card's proprietary software (ATI Catalyst). The maximum resolution I can select is 1440 x 900.xrandr detects a maximum resolution of 1440 x 1440 and displays the same list of screen resolutions as 'Display Preferences'.
But when I enter the line:
xrandr --newmode "1680x1050_60.00" 146.25 1680 1784 1960 2240 1050 1053 1059 1089 -hsync +vsync
I always get this message:

I'm using Robolinux Cinnamon which is Debian 8.2 (fantasic OS btw). I usually use a blank, black wallpaper but the default color of the icon font is black. I googled this question for about an hour before I came here. How to change the icon font color on the desktop to white?

I upgraded to F12 recently and due to SELinux I installed OpenOffice from repo. Now, I open an .ods file I made with orig. OpenOffice 3.1.1 on F11, and find that the font has become bold italic all through the 13 sheets and I can't change it. How can I change it to back non-bold, non-italic? I've looked through Options, but can't find anything useful for this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to upgrade a headless terminal server like box from Etch to Lenny. Users log in to this box using a GoGlobal client and use applications such as OpenOffice and Iceweasel. Because of the ended support for Etch we want to upgrade this machine to Debian Lenny as soon as possible and in order to save time we decided to dist-upgrade instead of installing a new machine. I've done this upgrade in a test environment and everything is working as expected except for OpenOffice, which seems broken after the upgrade:
The problem seems to be caused by the anti aliasing features of OpenOffice and disabling these features in the options panel (Extra -> Options -> OpenOffice.org View -> Screen font anti aliasing) fixes the UI somewhat:
However, as can be seen in the last screenshot, disabling anti aliasing makes the whole thing look terrible. I've searches the net for solutions such as this one but so far I've not been able to fix this. Is there anyone who can point me towards what has changed in the way fonts are rendered since Lenny and what might cause this breakage for OpenOffice? Other applications such as Iceweasel work perfectly and look better then before.
I'm using the shiki colors theme from the repos right now. "Shiki-Noble" to be specific. When typing something into Firefox's URL bar the internet addresses have got a dark font color and are hard to read on the dark background. Here's a screenshot: FF.jpg

I recently install lotus notes and symphony on my Ubuntu desktop. It is now defaulting all my docs to open in symphony. Is there a way for me to change it to default back to Open Office?
