I have a Triumph-Adler DC-2316 printer and I can't find the appropriate driver to make it work. I tried some Generic drivers but nothing worked.
View 1 RepliesI just rescued an old Lexmark Z35 and have been trying to find the file CJLZ35LE-CUPS-2.0-1.TAR.GZ. All the links I've found in this forum and Google seem to be broken. Does anyone know where can I find them? I have a Lexmark x5250 too, which I haven't been able to use in Ubuntu. I've heard there's a way to make it work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an HP C5100 photosmart printer/copier/scanner which works fine as a printer from Linux and as a printer or scanner from a PC running Windows XP. The device is net connected not local to either box. "Sane" (installed) does not appear to support this printer (from web site) but other comments seem to imply that others have made it work using "hplip" (also installed). Nowhere do I see instructions on how to make the scanner work from Linux.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently had problems with my HP printer in Fedora 12, where as I never had a problem with it in any other distrubution.... For some reason, the HPLIP driver in the repo doesn't work correctly... I don't know why... but I kept getting errors with "error: Printer queue setup failed. Please restart CUPS and try again."
I tried every suggestion I found... which was installing extra dependencies, disabling firewall, disabling SELinux and a whole bunch of other stuff... but nothing worked... THEN finally I decided to use the HPLIP driver from the HP website... it was a .run file... and I executed it, and my printer has worked perfect eversince..... my question is.... has anybody successfully installed their hp printer from the hplip driver in the repo's..??? I don't know why it didn't work for me, and i've seen other fedora users complain of the same thing? maybe theres something wrong with the package? or its not pulling in a needed dependency? I don't know...
I have downloaded all drivers from canon website for linux or Ubuntu . My computer find this printer which suppose to be the right one but nothing happen ? usb://Canon/iP2600%20series. do I need more drivers or files to work in Ubuntu ?

I downloaded the drivers and they are in the download folder. When I try to install I get what is below. How do I resolve? Do I need to identify where the driver is? If so, how?

I have been having trouble with my wireless connection intermittently disconnecting and reconnecting repeatedly (sometimes every couple of seconds). I posted a thread about this here on Ubuntu Forums titled: Ubuntu 10.45 & NetworkManager Applet 8.0: Connects & Disconnects Frequently.
I wanted some input on chronic problems with Ubuntu:
1. Why does wireless almost never work right on Ubuntu?
2. Why, when Ubuntu just decides to turn off my wireless card, can I not just turn it back on?
3. Why do tar balls almost never unpack right?
4. Why are printer drivers so buggy?
5. Why do my MP3 players and digital cameras not work with Ubuntu?
I spent 3 hours last night trying to unpack a tar.bz2 file so I can run my Ralink network card. It worked fine until my son unplugged my computer. Now my card is disconnected and it will not reconnect. When I check forums no one has a simple answer for something as simple as turning a network card back on. On my Apple, it's simple: click my wireless icon and hit "on." tell me an easy way to just turn my wireless card back on, it would renew my faith a little in Linux.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently using ubuntu 10.10 and trying to install the current driver for a lexmark x2600 printer. I retrieved the driver from the lexmark site, to be specific the debian version. Once I had the driver unzipped I was able to run the program to start installing it. However the problem is that it requires root privileges in order to install. So I input my admin password to allow the install. Apparently the password I use is not correct even though it is the admin/root password on my system.
View 4 Replies View RelatedNo wireless networking. The ethernet works fine, and the wireless interface itself works well in Windows 7 (dual boot). Tried: Ndiswrapper, notoriously quirky, does not seem to work with the XP driver (the oldest driver available for the RTL8191SE). The linux driver offered on the manufacturer's website lacks any installation instructions. I have no clue how to install a linux driver. SUSE seems to have two network managers that are constantly complaining about control: Network Manager and Yast. Neither are great and I am left missing my Ubuntu.
However, my audio only seems to work on SUSE. I have tried almost every distro on this machine. Ubuntu lacked sound and wireless, Fedora played startup sounds, but would not play an mp3 or wav file (fiddling with the mixer did not help). And Fedora also lacked wireless support. PCLinuxOS, my favorite, lacked sound and wireless. Tried some oldies too. ELE, DSL, Puppy, Ubuntu Netbook remix, Vector, Browserpuppy, Crunchbang, Cruncheee (just for experimental sakes) and probably others I am not remembering. So far, installing a free linux distro has cost me 14 dvd-R's and countless hours of installing, reformatting and reinstalling. Part of me really wanted crunchbang to work, as I love the minimalism and blacked-out theme.
I need wireless network access. The wireless light remains red in Linux and pressing the key does nothing to start the device. In Windows 7 it always lights white and works perfectly. Why hasn't SUSE adopted a gui for ndiswrapper? Other distros have it. Why is my brand new laptop, which is by no means abnormal in make or configuration, not 100% supported natively by any Linux distro? I just updated to the new kernel yesterday. So I should be running the most modern operating system available. Yet good-ol Windows 7 is my only fully functional environment.

I am fairly new to ubuntu having just dumped my winxp and put ubuntu 9.10 desktop on my Dell Inspiron 6400.I thought most things were not too bad. A few challenges, lots of things to learn. I have wine installed for some windows programmes I need and I am running winxp under virtualbox for some other things that are too hard under ubuntu.
But the biggest challenge so far has been printing.One of the printers I print to is a Toshiba estudio 232 photocopier and I need to do some fairly complex printing to it - one of the more complex being booklet printing.The windows printer drivers for the Toshiba have a swathe of configurable items that make it all work reasonably well and the driver is a snack to install.
But the dramas I have had trying to get it running under ubuntu have been taxing.After a lot of mucking around I finally managed to get ubuntu to use a Toshiba ppd instead of the generic one (I hope I am using the correct terminology) and I finally have access to some options. Not anywhere near the number of options under windows and in a far, far less friendly format but some progress at least.However not enough progress for the printing needs I have so I still have to use winxp under virtualbox to print the documents.Has anyone else experienced these dramas and is there any good answers?
I'm using Epson TX110 printer at the moment, it contains both scanner and printer.
I've installed Epson TX109 driver on Ubuntu, and it prints fine.
The problem is, how do I get the scanner to work? In the previous Windows, there's a program that allows you to scan and edit files, can I do it here too?

I am trying to setup all the new machines with ubuntu instead of windows but this problem is really a show stopper.
Since my windows HDD died, I have been permanently on ubuntu but i never got my printer set up. Its a friday night and now ive got some time on my hands! Ive found the drivers for my printer (Cannon MP 210) but i have no idea what to do with the files. The file for the scanner is a .tgz file, and the printer driver is a .tar file. When i connected my printer a few minutes ago, ubuntu 10.10 brought me to the installation and i installed and older printers driver (mp 180) but the scanner wont work and a bit of excess ink is on the test paper.

Also when it searches it is doing it for a parallel port and not usb. This machine has both connections but i haven't found my parallel cable to try and see if that will make Ubuntu see the printer. So i am saying i have it connected via usb. I know the usb port on the computer is working as i have been using another laser printer via that usb port.
