Ubuntu :: Browse Inside The AMSN Or Different Program?
Jul 18, 2011
I have this kind of problem , i want to browse a picture from my second drive . But i can't ? Why is that? I totally see the hard drive i can do what ever i want from the bar of linux, but inside the aMSN, i go change picture>browse and i try to find from the roll down menu, the "other hard drive" but it doesn't show me anything,it's just showing the local.
I am running Ubuntu 9.10 and have installed aMSN from the repositories. But when i try to set up my Logitech webcam the whole aMSN program freezes solid and the only way i can get rid of it is to restart the computer.
I'm using a Samsung mobile to connect internet.in Ubuntu i can browse the files inside the mobile and can be connect to internet at the same time.in opensuse both gnome and kde my device is detected but i can only connect to internet using it.i can't browse the mobile files
I'm looking for a program which supports iPod and burning playlists to CD's from inside (well, I'm looking for iTunes but damn these people in apple they won't release a version...)
I installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my notebook and this works well, but the icons of VLC and aMSN on the top panel appear wrapped in a white square. There solution to this problem?
Neither pidgin, aMSN, nor empathy will connect to my hotmail account, pidgin connects to xfire and gmail fine, but not to my hotmail, so i have to use ebuddy, which i don't like. The weird thing is that for a period of time it won't connect, then it works again (aMSN and empathy too) and after a while it'll stop working again. Also my buddies in hotmail usually see me offline, even though my status is set to online.
aMSN gives me: "error connecting to server" pidgin gives me: "Connection error from Notification server: Reading error"
I installed amsn from SVN, I had gnutls and libv4l with its devel packages installed at compile time, and after I installed it I set amsn to msnp18 via amsn's console to enable the experimental video conferencing.
My issue is when I go to configure A/V, farsight2 throws this error when amsn checks for farsight2
Code:
I believe I have all the dependencies as listed on this page [url]
Perhaps I missed something when translating the ubuntu-named farsight dependencies to fedora's equivalent? Anybody see a solution to this?
I am using Fedora 13 64-bit, the system is up to date.
Ever since installing aMSN 0.98.2 I have not been getting the normal audio notification of incoming messages although that feature is enabled in the program. Actually, I do get an audio alert for the very first incoming message but after that, nothing. Other audio alerts, such as when someone signs in or out, do work fine. I am using Ubuntu 9.04. The Windows version of that release works fine and that's what I've been using in recent weeks but I hate going to Windows for my IM.
My girlfriend is using Karmic and we're trying to get video and audio to work in aMSN.
We confirmed farsight is installed:
Code: libgstfarsight0.10-0: Installed: 0.0.15-1ubuntu1 Candidate: 0.0.15-1ubuntu1 Version table:
[Code].....
That returned nothing. So, valve is not in the plugins that we have. Apparently, it is not in the farsight that we have either, if I've interpreted posts right.
And my issue is that I've never built from source or package or anything. sudo apt-get install and adding to the sources.list file is the experience I have. So, if I need to do source building, I'll need guidance.
i downloaded packages of java and amsn but i cant see them in the synaptic package manager.when i search them i cant find and when i click file--> add downloaded packages ,it doesnt take this packages.
I can't capture sound in aMSN instant messenger. I'm tried to test sound capture in sound preference but it has no sound(Beep). Mainboard AliveNF6G audio Chip: Realtek ALC888 i'm changed to PulseAudio but not work. anyone can help me? or have the other idea.

According to this aMSN is included in Debian Squeeze, but when I try to install it with aptitude it can't find it. it can find (and correctly installs) amsn-data. Why, and how do I solve this? I'd rather not install through other means if at all possible.
I have the webcam model Microsoft LifeCam NX-6000 running on my Toshiba Satellite laptop with Debian Sid and kernel 2.6.32.8. I am able to get the program GUCView to work without any problems, but I can not get my webcam to work with either aMSN or Skype (2.1 Beta for Linux). I don't know what to do next, or what my options are at this time. All of my friends/family use MSN and/or Skype with MS Windows or Mac. I am able to get sound/voice to work but no visuals.
I installed F14 and I have been having some issues with the usage of the ram memory. Here is the situation: while working with firefox, amsn, and VLC, suddenly the system stop responding, I just can manage to check system monitor and the ram is at 89% (of 1GB) and the swap at 50% (of 1.4GB). I can do nothing then I just switch off the machine. After that using the same applications everything is fine. I was using F12.
So, I've installed Ubuntu v9.10 through the Wubi and I can see only the C, E drivers but not the D one (which is, where I have installed the Ubuntu itself and maybe that's why the problem appear).
I just booted up, after making a flash USB for a test (didn't work) so I booted as normally into Ubuntu 9.10 (not dual boot). When I get back on, there's this... I don't know how to explain it. If someone can think of a better way to explain this, I'll change the title to be a bit more helpful, and easier to search for those who have a similar problem.
I can't browse through windows (such as with Alt + Tab, or even just clicking on another window), nothing comes to the front, and stays as is. I've not touched my graphics / display settings, so the only thing I can think of, is when I was going through the boot-up applications, but I doubt I disabled anything that would have been graphics and GUI based, or the compizconfig-settings-manager disrupted something. I've ye to test anything, it's rather early.
log in ubuntu (i use Ubuntu v9.04) , and i go to Places->Computer, but i can't access to my local disks?A notice of error is:Code:Could not display "computer":Nautilus cannot handle "computer" locationsWhat's this error? How to fix it or only reinstall Ubuntu? And i have another question: How to install GTK+ , i want to find GTK+ deb file, but i can't. I install GTK+ by compile source code, but when i compile, in my ubuntu don't find package ATK,cairo.... But i don't know exact what's ATK, cairo. I can't find it.
I installed Ubuntu 9.10 as Guest OS with Windows XP as Host using Virtual Box. I have also installed the VirtualBox Guest Additions. Now I want to connect to the internet using my modem.

From the above link, I downloaded the scanModem file from the Host XP. I don't know how to copy that file to the Guest Ubuntu OS.

I couldn't find the /mnt/msdos directory - only /mnt (no files inside that directory). Also, don't know how to paste from the USB drive.
I made a full disk backup using Clonezilla on a external drive and I used lzo, but this time I need to browse its contents somehow and extract some files but I could not find a utility that reads lzo archives.
recently I got new wireless card, att usb Quicksilver(based/produce by Option?), for att.Regular gnome network manager freezes the computer when I am plugging it it therefore I installed the one from wicd.net.Also, I am using HSOConnect (to connect by to G3 network), and sometimes I connect to regular wireless g connection through router.
Under both cases I can ping the website by IP and can access the website by ip (ex. google) but can not ping or browse by name.As a side note... I can use and access Skype fine under g3 network and normal wireless.I tried browsing and finding other solutions in past few days but ended up breaking everything and reinstalling to get back to the point I am at now.I am working on the road, so not being to broswse is rather crippling to me.... also I can access internet normally only from home from different computer now.
