I'm looking for a program which supports iPod and burning playlists to CD's from inside (well, I'm looking for iTunes but damn these people in apple they won't release a version...)
View 1 RepliesI wanted to "reset" the collection on my iPod and ended up accidentally deleting, through Amarok, all the playlists, including the default ones like "Most Played" and "Highest Rated". Since these are dynamic playlists with a special meaning for iPod, I don't think creating new, normal playlists with the same name will bring their special behavior back.
How do I restore them with the same dynamic functionality? Is there a way to do that on Amarok? Rhythmbox? GTKPod? Command line?
P.S.: not entirely sure what the policy about iPod questions are, but this one in particular seems to me to be very computer-related because, although it's about interfacing with a device, everything has to be done on my computer, using standard PC libraries/programs, etc.
Ive heard that amarok works but im not sure how to download it.

Do you know of any dvd copying program? like without making the image and then burning with just one process just copy the disc sorta program like roxio dvd copier? I wanted to make copies of movies I made a dvd of but aside from image burn which is a hassle to make the image first. is there something for burning on the fly or dvd/cd copying? infrarecorder and cdburnerxp do not work for me at all.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm sick of screwing around trying to script a clean solution to burn multiple files and folders to CDs and DVDs with wodim, growisofs and genisoimage.I'm looking for a high level command line program that uses sensible defaults and takes arguments something like this:[program-name] [cd|dvd] /path/to/dir1/ /path/to/dir2/ /path/to/file ...It should then do all the low level copying and ISO generation transparently and just burn the damn disk!Does anyone have any suggestions? I've looked at several programs but it seems there are too many choices to trawl through and not enough information about them online.

I totally see the hard drive i can do what ever i want from the bar of linux,but inside the aMSN, i go change picture>browse and i try to find from the roll down menu, the "other hard drive" but it doesn't show me anything,it's just showing the local.

So i want to go full ubuntu, but i have one problem lol my ipod i subscribe to coast to coast podcast and was trying to setup my podcast in rhytm box but it wont connect its a password protected podcast "paid for it" my problem is i see nowhere to add my user nam and password for this podcast i donloaded gpodder and that allows me to connect and put my password and username in, anyone have any ideas on how i can get rhymbox to do this.. is there a better program to handle my ipod and podcast other than Rhytmbox

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to connect my 2nd Gen Ipod to Xubuntu and import my music collection onto the Ipod. I am having real problems with this. Rhythm Box does not recognise the Ipod with the plug-in, I have tried Amarok, but each time I tried to open it, it just crashed, tried sending a bug report but that did not want to work. I have also tried Exaile with the Ipod plug-in but when you go to the device manager you can click on the Ipod but nothing happens. I have tried looking at the Exaile forums but this seems to be a problem for others as well. The Ipod mounts ok, now a bit stuck.

At this point my ipod shows on my desktop when i connect it via usb. I cannot set up the repository for it in gtkpod because i dont know the location its mounting to. if its mounting at all. so my question is. how can i tell where my ipod is being mounted? I dont have a clue what to look for in the terminal results for "df -a"

I've been trying to get my iPod touch (8GB, jailbroken) to connect with gtkpod iPod manager. But whenever I try to load the iPod I get this message.

tranferring Ipod audiobooks (m4b) files to my Ipod. I can't get them to transfer with GTKpod or Rhythmbox. I did manage to get a file copied, but it didn't show up on the Ipod.

Either xspf or m3u.
Creating them is fine but the only they will launch is if I "Open With" VLC.
Having "Remember this application for "XSPF playlist" files." checked seems to make the assignment b/c when I right-click to get properties VLC is chosen under the "Open With" tab.
The icon doesn't change from the music note image either (I thought I'd get some VLC icon)
I understand this is a bug and you must edit ".local/share/applications/mimeapps.list"
But don't know what to enter there for XSPF or M3U files.

I'm using Banshee that comes installed on 11.04. Syncing seems to work only one of two ways: 1. sync entire library (not possible for me) or 2. sync a single banshee playlist. How do I sync say three playlists to my iphone?I've tried syncing another playlist and it wants to wipe the rest of the music from my phone.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am going through the motions of migrating from Rhythmbox to Banshee so that I can field questions about the process as Banshee takes over for Rhythmbox in Ubuntu. I have solved a silly issue about importing playlists (they must be imported from /home/username/ or you must alter the paths in each entry). But there is another issue which I am at a loss to explain.
My playlists are like mixed tapes. They are in a specific order. When I import a playlist into Banshee that order is not preserved. I have checked the files and they are definitely ordered and numbered in the playlists just as they are in Rhythmbox, but Banshee refuses to import them with the order respected regardless of the smallness of the list.
What's going on and how can I correct this?
I'd rather not have to reconstruct all of these playlists.
I have recently got a new car, which as a USB port to connect either an iPOD or Storage Device. For some reason I decided to get a portable 500GB HDD to put my music on. When you plug in an iPOD you get the nice options to search by genre, artist, etc. You don't get this option with a storage device, just the option to go through the folders. The car stereo will read playlists. I'm wondering whether there's an easy way to create playlists so I get these options:
Artists > Artists A-D
Artists > Artists E-G
etc
Genre > Genre A-D
etc
I know rhythmbox can do this manually (as can iTunes) but surely there's an easier way. I'm planning to keep adding more music so an automated process would be nice to keep the playlists refreshed. Where the playlists are saved onto my HDD rather than having to save them one by one.
I used to be able to sync my music with HTC Hero and Banshee, but when I upgraded to 2.1 quite a while back banshee seems to crash. I now have a Nexus One (Android 2.2) and that does the same. (no longer have the Hero). They both seem to crash Banshee when it gets to syncing the playlists (every time), music syncs fine. Does anyone else on 2.1 or 2.2 have this problem or is it just me? (been doing searches every now and then since the Hero update but cant find anything).

The playlists I build in Banshee directly are not suffering this emptying problem. (There is one imported playlist, of some 30+, which has not yet emptied but I see nothing special about it.)
