Ubuntu :: Banshee Doesn't Recognize My Sansa Clip+?
Jul 23, 2011I've always had trouble with Banshee recognizing media devices. Right now I have a Sansa Clip+ which I'd really like banshee to recognize. Unfortunately it wont at all.

View 1 RepliesLast week when I was still running Lucid I could get Banshee to read and write to my Sansa Clip Plus fine, but now that I have upgraded to Maverick Banshee can no longer see it.
I have it set in MSC mode with an .is_audio_player file (that worked back in Lucid) and Rhythmbox can see it and read and write to it fine. Has anyone else encountered this problem or does anyone else know what might be causing it? Banshee's version is 1.7.6 and the contents of my .is_audio_file are posted below:
Code:
audio_folders=MUSIC/,PODCASTS/,AUDIOBOOKS/
output_formats=application/ogg,audio/mpeg,audio/flac,audio/x-ms-wma,audio/aac,audio/mp4,audio/audible
input_formats=application/ogg,audio/mpeg,audio/flac,audio/x-ms-wma,audio/aac,audio/mp4,audio/audible
folder_depth=1
playlist_path=PLAYLISTS/%File
playlist_format=audio/x-iriver-pla
my Lucid lynx doesn't mount my mp3 player,its already setup in USB-MODE as MSC , but it doesn't show it in desktop, or media folder, or mnt folder or under file system my usb is detected
this is my lsusb output:

I just upgraded from 9.10 x64 to 10.04 x64 on my desktop. My Sansa Clip+ (USB mass storage mp3 player with SD card slot) stopped auto mounting. It worked fine in 9.10.
dmesg:
Code:

I can not get my desktop running Ubuntu 9.10 to recognize my SANSA clip music player. When I plug it in (nothing), No icon on desktop, nothing in Nautilus. I've verified the USB ports are working by plugging in thumb drives and my I-pod.
When I hook the SANSA to my wife's laptop running Ubuntu 8.04 it works great no problems. I must have a setting wrong on my computer, but have NO idea how to fix it.
I've been using a Sansa Clip as my portable music player, since it can play ogg files, and with 64 bit F12 I've been able to transfer music back and forth fromthe Clip to my computer via usb port. There seems to be an issue with F13 not recognizing when the clip has been plugged into the usb port.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am trying to connect a Sansa Clip Zip with rockbox firmware. Debian does not recognise/automount the drives (4gb of internal mem and 32gb sdhc card) whereas Mint 17 had no problem with them.
Are there additional libraries needed? I believe the filesystem is FAT32 rather than anything more exotic so not sure why it doesn't recognise the drives. The clip zip charges but doesn't mount.
I've just installed openSUSE 11.2 (with Gnome). Everything works fine except the Ipod support in Banshee (Ver. 1.6 Beta 2).
When I connect my Ipod Video 30GB to my Computer it is recognised in openSUSE and also a new Nautilus windows with the Ipod content is opened. But in Banshee there is no Ipod button or anything else which allows me to sync my music with Ipod.
I've already tried to delete the /home/{user}/.config/banshee-1 folder and installed the banshee-1-dmp-ipod package. The Ipod plugin (Ver. 1.0) is also installed in Banshee.
Ubuntu 10.04 won't recognise my Sandisk Sansa Clip+ as installed on comp. It sees memory sticks and memory cards. Are there drivers that I need to install?? Anything in Synaptic Package Manager that needs to be installed?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got a Motorola Atrix yesterday. Figured I could just use Banshee to manage the device in Ubuntu like I did with my prior IPhone.However, banshee doesn't seem to pick up the device. However, they dont' tell you what file to add it to. I did add those lines to /home/michael/.config/banshee-1/addin-db-001/config.xml which was the only xml file I could find for banshee. However, still doesn't work.
Does anyone have any experience getting the Atrix to work in banshee. Or does anyone know of another manager I would be able to use to manage music and video on Ubuntu. The only official way to do this is to use Windows Media Player or the motorola app both of which are Windows/Mac.
I was just trying to get the now playing for banshee to show on conky but the way I was going to do it required me to make a wrapper for banshee.sh but I can't seem to find it or it doesn't exist.

View 8 Replies View Related(New thread due to significant change in info)5th gen iPod is recognized, but will not load files into banshee. It is the latest version of banshee. My ipod (named SON2) shows up in the menu, but when selected it hangs on "Loading SON2" and showing that it's busy...but this goes on without end, no files ever get loaded. Also, banshee doesn't recognize any music or video on the ipod, only "other". Steps taken so far:- A complete removal and reinstallation of banshee has had no effect.- Installed latest version of podsleuth, no effect- Previous had "automount" in nautilus preferences unchecked, rechecked - no effectPossible signs of danger:Running Banshee from Terminal output (CLICK HERE FOR NOPASTE OUTPUT)- skipping my song errors, at the bottom 4 warnings occur, followed by a number of failures which I don't understand
View 9 Replies View RelatedI see that whenever I try and run a video, the system defaults to try and run it in Banshee.Banshee, though, sits there with a black screen and the information on what it is supposed to be playing. Clicking the Play button does nothing. This includes OGG (OGV?) video files.Does anybody use this feature in Banshee and got it to work?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter installing and gradually becoming familiar with OpenSUSE v11.2 [Gnome], I've been casually trying to get acquainted with the Bash shell and its commands. However, for this problem I thought it would be more appropriate to log in here, since this issue is a bit more serious. Accordingly, I'm afraid that I must once again prevail upon the helpful, patient, knowledgeable Linux users in this forum for assistance.As a retiree and a doting grandfather, I enjoy the luxury and time to take numerous videos of my children and grandchildren, and one of the features to which I've become spoiled in Windows is the ability to play a wide variety of video formats. Unfortunately, "out of the box", Banshee appears to refuse to play any of them. Somehow, using YaST, I was able to get online flash video to work by downloading and installing recommended packages, and it worked the first time after re-booting my system! However, I'm not having as much luck with installing video codecs that I apparently need to play my own video files. I wish these codecs had come pre-installed on the OpenSUSE disc that I burned, but you can't always get what you want. [Wasn't that the title of a 60's or 70's Rolling Stones song?]
I guess where I need help, specifically, is in determing where to get and how to install the best free video player and a comprehensive codec package that will work reliably in OpenSUSE. Would some kind soul out there be able to take me by the hand and show me, step by step, exactly what I must do to achieve this goal? I was hoping to be able to use the automatic package installer, but when I tried it, I noticed diagnostics informing me that I lacked certain dependencies, and that I should install manually, which I assume requires using the command line. I have no objection to trying this, if someone would be kind enough to show me exactly how. I really would like to be able to watch my grandchildren playing without having to depend upon one of my Windows systems.
I have an acer aspireone aod250, i putted an external cdrom and downloaded the ubuntu, tried to install it but it didn't recognize the hdd... i though it was the cd, i downloaded ubuntu netbook edition, it did the same. i thought maybe i could try another operative, i downloaded linux mint 9, did the same thing. then ordered a cd from ubuntu.com, got in today, and it doesn't recognize my hdd. btw, the hdd is a seagate momentus 5400.6 with 160gb. i already ran ubuntu with the cd rom and starts the instalation, but when it arrives to the partitioning part of the instalation, it doesn't detect my hdd. but the bios in the pc detects it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen logged in as my normal userid to OpenSuse 11.2, I cannot get Banshee to recognize my Creative Zen MP3 player. The player does appear as a device on the desktop and I can access files on the player through that icon, but cannot get Banshee to recognize it so it can be managed in Banshee.If however, I log on as root, Banshee recognizes the device without a problem.
The log file in ~/.config/banshee-1 shows the following:
libusb couldn't open USB device /dev/bus/usb/001/004: Permission denied.
libusb requires write access to USB device nodes.

View 3 Replies View RelatedNo media player recognizes my Philips MP3 Player as such, I've put all my hopes into Rhythmbox, it seems to be the most likely one to work. Anyway, I have created the empty .is_audio_player file but still the player does not show up in RB. I can access the player just fine through Nautilus, and syncing it actually worked for a while, but now for some reason it has stopped.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Ubuntu 10.04 installation that I have been using for about a month. However, just recently, at random times for about 5 seconds I can't use my mouse or keyboard.When it does that, the computer isn't frozen, I just can't type.About 5 seconds later, all the text that I was trying to type suddenly appears. I have 4GB or RAM, and even when I barely have any programs running and at 0% of resource usage, the problem still persists. This has just been happening for the past day or so.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI typed in a text file (Feb.txt) at work using the basic Microsoft Notepad text editor and emailed it home. When I tried to open it from the email using the default gedit I got an error message - Could not open the file /tmp/Feb.txt gedit has not been able to detect the character encoding. check that you are not trying to open a binary file. Select a character encoding from the menu and try again.The character encoding is set to 'automatically detected'.
How come it can't detect the encoding? I had to manually set the encoding to Western(ISO 8599-15) to load it. I can't remember this happening in the past, and it was OK loading one I sent earlier (Jan.txt) which presumably had the same encoding, as it was written in the same way.
I recently upgraded from karmic to lucid. I am currently having a problem trying to get ubuntu to recognize my LG slim External DVD drive. It was recognized fine in Karmic, but for some reason doesnt work now in Lucid. The device does work as i have tried it on other computers.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to make my desktop look like a Mac. I followed the instructions here. Here is exactly what I did:
1. Downloaded the Mac4lin package.
2. Extracted folder in my downloads.
3. Went to System > Preferences > Appearance.
4. Clicked install.
5. Installed Downloads > Mac4Lin_Install_v1.0 > Mac4Lin_Install_v1.0 >b GTK > Mac4Lin_Meta_v1.0.tar.gz.
However, when I do this, it doesn't recognize it, as you can see in the picture. Did I do something wrong when installing it?
I installed windows 7 after I installed linux. I got grub reinstalled but windows doesnt show up in the grup menu. So I run in linux sudo update-grub, but this doesnt find my windows system.

I have an RCA Opal, 4GB player. I am having some problems transferring music to it. I first try the player in MSC mode and just drag and drop the files I want to listen to into the Opal's Music directory. That works fine, but over half of the songs I transfer over end up in the "Unknown Album" file. I have checked the ID3 Tags for these songs and they are intact. Next I have put the player into MTP mode to try to transfer things with Rhythmbox, but Rhythmbox doesn't show the player in the sidepanel.
EDIT 1: It may be worth noting that mtp-detect in Terminal returns the message "No Raw Devices Found"
I am on Pidgin right now if anyone just wants to IM a response.
