I'm looking for an app that will analyze my system and report similar to device manager. I'm trying to find out what type of ram i have installed (ddr 266/300/400 pc 2700/3200) etc.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn both of these areas, when I actually go to "Install" the things, whether it be adding or removing programs, or doing the Update Manager, I get the same error as soon as I click "Install," and it fails to install any selected programs/updates.
Here is the following error:
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
I have not been able to find this "sudo dpkg" file to manually run.
I keep getting this message while I try to run updates. The Update Manager says I have 35MB to install but it doesn't do it. Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how to maybe fix it? Also, how do I 'report this bug against the update-manager package'?

Does anyone have a music manager similar to iTunes for Ubuntu? Being able to import iTunes playlists and ratings and such would be great, but I'm not going to use an inferior program just because of that. I still hate all Apple computer products. And their business practices. Mobile is ok though. Linux Ubuntu 10.10
For those that use Virtualbox on their slackware host and have a windows (xp) guest running. I have tried various settings for sound (Alsa, PulseAudio), the AC97 drivers are installed in the Windows xp guest os, but there is no sound and there is an unknown audio device (in the windows device manager). If I remove the AC97 drivers and use the soundblaster16 drivers in the Vbox settings there is no unknown sound device, but there's still no sound. why I can't get sound working?

Watching through /var/log/messages it says that F10 detects two port device for this modem: ttyUSB1 and ttyUSB2, and in the sequence it disable port ttyUSB1 BUT Network Manager still set this port.I mean, when i connect via wvdial appointing to ttyUSB2 i get connection, but Network Manager fails to do it appointing to ttyUSB1. How to change device port in Network Manager?
View 1 Replies View RelatedRunning Fedora 13, I cannot add my HP J4680 through the HP Device Manager. I get an error message saying that the print queue cannot be started and it asks me to restart CUPS. I tried restarting CUPS and adding the device. It did not work. The printer is on my home network wirelessly. I can add it through the CUPS web interface and print, but then I cannot access the scanner. I tried adding the device after it was already added through CUPS, but that did not work. I would like to use the scanner; I don't really care about the fax.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAll of my PCs are set up to either run Ubuntu directly, or are dual boot Ubuntu and some variant of Windows. One of the things I like about this is that in the rare instances that I get a virus I can simply boot into Ubuntu and run ClamAV to remove the virus from there.
I have a friend who recently picked up a nasty virus and we are having a hard time getting his machine to boot at all without all sort of strange behaviors. Under that scenario I can't trust Wubi to work correctly. Soo....

I use ubuntu 10.04 on my desktop pc and i have on my laptop installed Windows XP with Office 2007. The office suite has been activated for the third and last time, because windows crashed on me twice before, prompting my move to linux. while this third activation of office is still working i was wondering if there was some way to salvage this activation, so i don't lose it should it fail, which it most likely will at some point in the future. i was thinking if there was a software that could copy an already installed operating system and turn it into a virtual machine. That software would of course have to run in an windows environment.
I know i can use openoffice, and i do. Its great to get things done quickly, but my college course is specific to office 2007, and i have to memorise the interface to be able to write up procedures from memory.I'm not sure but xp is probably very hardware specific so as long as i run that virtual machine on my laptop with a linux distro i should be fine.

Wanted to access the session manager, but when I scroll to System/Preferences, there is no entry for it, or for the startup programs manager. Also, I'm getting the following error when attempting to open the "windows" entry: Failed to execute child process "gnome-window-properties" (No such file or directory)
Did I somehow botch something in gnome which is now leading to the absence of the session manager as well as the inability to launch the "windows" manager?

I've always run as root on Slackware, but having done away with Ubuntu for now, all of my machines including the family desktop are running Slackware. There have been several ups and downs and the last one that I know of (for now) is the HP Device Manager. It doesn't run as root so I've never noticed that it drastically slows down printing via a shared printer. Disabled the system just sends it's requests to the samba/cups server and starts printing instantly. The HP Device Manager seems to go through an intialization step each time that takes several seconds before I can even hit the "print" button.

Much like the Support of some companies where you send an email a ticket is automatically opened, but instead we need to save the messages to the filesystem depending upon an identified ID in the message.
We're considering two options:
1) Identify by to: header
Messages are sent to 12345@domain.com or os+12345@domain.com, where 12345 is out customer identifier, and the mail server processess messages and saves them to:
/data/os/12345/Customer contact.eml
2) Identify by subject: header
Messages are sent to os@domain.com and the customer identifier is specified in the subject [12345] Customer contact.
We need to do some other verifications as the user (from: header) is authorized to archive messages to that customer, but this is another story.
I tried searching for something along the line of AMaViS and ClamAV filters but had no success.

I need to analyze the squid access log file for the purpose of my research.For that I need to obtain some correlation among time and the web site visited, machine ip and the web site name etc.It's better if I can draw a graph by analyzing the log file . I found some log analyzers but it didnt provide this.I need to obtain some cor-relation from this log file .
