OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Rubyripper Does Not Analyze Files And Does Not Finish?

Aug 8, 2010

rubyripper starts ripping but then it seems it stops during the analyzation. No action noticable and it does not finish. The last message in the log is: analyzing the files for not matching chunks.I left it for hours and nothing happens. It happens with all formats and with all CD's I have.No error messages or other. With opensuse 11.2. there was no problem at all.

rubyripper version 0.6.0
Kernel: Linux 2.6.34-12-desktop x86_64
Distribution: openSUSE 11.3 (x86_64)
KDE: 4.4.4 (KDE 4.4.4) "release 7"

Does anybody have an idea or need any logfiles?A similar problem I have in k3b when ripping audio cd's. It hangs up during analyzation.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: How To Get Rubyripper To Rip CD

Mar 9, 2010

I'm kind of frustrated about the CD ripping programs I've tried - one doesn't stop ripping at the end of the CD, the other one doesn't rip at all. In the past, I used to use Grip, which was perfectly fine, but it's no longer available for Ubuntu 9.10, so I had to move on to other programs. Since I cannot compile from source (tried a couple times in the past, always screwed up badly), SoundJuicer - which is supposed to be really great - is not an option for me (anybody aware of a deb?). Rubyripper looks great, but when I tell it to rip, it simply doesn't do nothing.

RipOff is more simple and basic. It rips, but a) only at, like, 2.3x speed (how can I speed it up?) and b) at the end of the CD, it just continues ripping and never finishes. I end up with e.g. a 5:30 minute OGG for a song that runs for 4:10 minutes. The song itself is perfectly fine and completely present, the OGG just goes on in silence for another minute afterwards. This happened twice so far. It just doesn't stop when the CD is over. How can I get a CD ripping software that does its job flawlessly?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Ripping Certain CDs With Rubyripper GUI On 10.04?

Jan 23, 2011

I've been using the rubyripper gui on 10.04 for a while now, using my samsung se-so84 external dvd writer and I really like it. The problem is, I seem to have found that a small handful of my CDs will not rip at all. it says that it is ripping the first trial of the first track and never progresses past this. I check the files and the temporary .wav file. usually, when this file is created it is of size 44 bytes and increases to a number of MB in a matter of seconds. in the case of the albums that do not work, the file remains very small, all being 32KB, with the exception of one that is 64KB and another that remained 44 bytes. I check the log files and they all read:

Code:
STATUS
Starting to rip track 1, trial #1
Filesize is not correct! Trying another time
Starting to rip track 1, trial #1
However, this appears to be normal as I checked the log of an album that ripped correctly and it started with this.

So I tried using the command line mode and that didn't work either. the ouput was:
Code:
STATUS
Ripping progress (0 %)
Ripping track 1
Expected filesize for track 1 is 66389948 bytes.
and then it exits. in the directory, an empty temp folder has been created and the album's folder contains a log file that ends after STATUS. I tried using a CD that works on the gui and the command line did the same thing. could this be something to do with the incorrect filesize that the log showed for all CDs?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Loaded RubyRipper - Where Did It Go

Jun 15, 2011

I loaded RubyRipper today so I can rip some music, but don't know where it went. I extracted it, but don'y know what to do now. If it is not a straightforward install, where I just click install and it does the rest, I am lost. What do I look for, and what do I do?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Rubyripper Will Not Install Properly ?

Jun 4, 2010

I have read several threads on the subject of installing rubyripper, and following the instructions seems to work for a while, but at the end of "sudo apt-get install rubyripper" or some variant like -gtk I get the return: "Couldn't find package rubyripper"

I have tried this through the Ubuntu software center, terminal, Synaptic, etc, and do not know anywhere else to go and look for it.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: External Encoding In The Rubyripper?

Jul 18, 2010

rubyripper is designed to be the EAC for linux and in this thread here mc4man very kindly gave me the other box encode line for mp3HD slightly modified to give a 320kbps on the lossy aspect of the file

Code:

mp3hdEncoder -br 320000 -if "%i" -of "%o".mp3 - -Title "%t" -Artist "%a" -Album "%b" -Track "%n" -Year "%y" -Genre "%g"
ALSO IMPORTANT

MAke sure you have Lame installed on your synaptic the encoding relies on it for the lossy part and make it executable ALSO make sure you go into the terminal enter mp3hdEncoder and ACCEPT the agreement now i am seeking the same information for 3 other formats.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Rubyripper - Lucid Ruby 1.8 / 1.9 / Libgtk2-ruby?

Apr 26, 2010

I've been using rubyripper quite happily on Karmic, now I've moved to Lucid and discovered a bit of an issue. rubyripper will pause for several minutes between tracks with ruby 1.8. If I upgrade to ruby 1.9.1 the gui client won't run due to an issue with libgtk2-ruby not being available for 1.9.1.

The cli version of rubyripper under 1.9.1 is blazingly fast, so that is what I'm using at the moment, but I do prefer the gui.

Anyone have any insight into this? Googling suggests there may be a bug in ruby 1.8.7 that caused the long pauses, but it was supposed to have been fixed in 1.8.7.249 i.e. the default Lucid version.

Debian Programming :: Analyze Image Or Screen For Existence Of A Color

Jan 4, 2014

I have a problem for which I imagined a radical solution. Okay, I have a script that uses Alltray's "menu" feature as an interface. It's working greatly, EXCEPT sometimes lxpanel (the panel and tray of LXDE) has a hiccup and restarts, at which point the alltray menu is still running, but the icon is gone from the tray.

I want to somehow test the screen for the existence of a color, a color that is likely only to exist in the icon I've chosen for the chat menu. If the color exists on my screen, then the script can continue to do nothing, but if the color doesn't exist, then that means the alltray icon with my custom icon has disappeared, at which point I should have my bash script close the alltray process and start it again.

How to accomplish the checking of my screen for the existence of a particular color? To simplify, I already have simple screenshot scripts (scrot is good for it), so it would be fine if I could simply analyze an image.

Ubuntu Servers :: Analyze And Archive Incoming Messages To Filesystem

Jul 1, 2011

Where I work we're trying to create a mailbox where our employees sends messages to it and the mail server processess them. Much like the Support of some companies where you send an email a ticket is automatically opened, but instead we need to save the messages to the filesystem depending upon an identified ID in the message.

We're considering two options:

1) Identify by to: header

Messages are sent to 12345@domain.com or os+12345@domain.com, where 12345 is out customer identifier, and the mail server processess messages and saves them to:

/data/os/12345/Customer contact.eml

2) Identify by subject: header

Messages are sent to os@domain.com and the customer identifier is specified in the subject [12345] Customer contact.

We need to do some other verifications as the user (from: header) is authorized to archive messages to that customer, but this is another story.

I tried searching for something along the line of AMaViS and ClamAV filters but had no success.

Networking :: Analyze Network Traffic For Attacks And While Finding The Attack?

Apr 9, 2010

I need to learn how to analyze network traffic for attacks and while finding the attack seems easy in my case I need to identify what hes doing. I will be happy right now if you guys can answer my question. How to identify if an attack has brought the server down? I have packet captures of an attack in progress and I noticed that every now and then the attacker would do something weird and the server would start sending packets with just the RST packet sent in response. Normally I had been seeing the RST ACK flags set or the FIN ACK bits set to terminate a connection. So once again my question is how do I tell if the traffic indicates a server crash?
