I have set Audio Output Module to ALSA, but there is not sound either. Same result with AviPlayer, video but no sound. The log of AviPlayer is:

I'm having problems with video files, when i try to watch them on VLC player or Movie player or any other software, its spoiling my picture, colors are fuzzy, it is like, gray color is shown as yellow, white as blue and stuff like that.

I've tried switching output to ALSA, OCC and still no success. My audio files are playing perfect with any music player. In sound setting I'm using Analog stereo duplex, I have the option of choosing HDMI, but than I have no sound whatsoever.

View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently I decided to leave Windows and go with Linux. To try out I downloaded Ubuntu 10.10 and I can't be happier. I'm still getting used to how things work around here. Anyway I have an account at a website where I watch free TV, thing is the website uses Windows Media Player to stream the TV channels. I downloaded a bunch of plug-ins like VLC player, MPlayer and some other but all I get is the sound from the channels, no video other than some stupid graphics like when you play a song in Windows Media Player. So I wanted to ask you guys if you can help a brother out and please be as detailed as possible as to what to do because I'm still getting used to working in this environment.

I already tried every video codecs in the settings but with the same result. I also tried to start first VLC and select the video but that does not change anything.
View 5 Replies View RelatedGuetting radio streams to work in ubuntu stand alone players wasnt so difficult after all: I just had too see the page source and locate the streaming address. That way I added some radios I was interested to rhythmbox. I also found websites that list lots of streaming addresses for Europe, Japan.TV seems to be different: so far I havent been able to do the same: Ideally, I could search for a streaming tv address in the source of the page with the embedded player, but no luck at all.
Im not talking about tv via a tvturner card, just tv streamings, like the BBC or this german one URL... type=null. The public german broadcaster allows me to watch their programms in their embedded player. Can I watch those programms in vlc or in other standalone players? Im also interested in the same for the bbc, cnn, aljazeera...
Is there a default media player in linux such as windows media/ if so what is the name of it or can i download one that works with linux, i would like for the player to not only play music but watch videos as well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using Dell inspiron 1210 and installed netbook remix 10.10 recently. But I have trouble with watching video files with any players, including built-in player, SMPlayer, VLC media player.
Video is not appear with those players and can see only black screens. Sound works well. I think there are some troubles with codecs, But though I installed some codecs and restricted-extra, there are no improvements. What should I do to see video with this system? Those video files can be watched with my desktop;Ubuntu 10.04 and VLC player so I think files has no problem. Dell inspiron 1210 specification; Intel Atom Z530, GMA500, 1GB Ram. GMA500 driver has installed.
Everyone always told me Ubuntu is a perdy Speedy OS. Im thinking otherwise so far, unless Im missing something. Basic problem where i see the lack of speed compaired to when this same machine is running windows 7 comes to web browsing. Mainly ..... vids. i downloaded Flash from the software center and downloaded java with the help of some commands i looked up. I cant watch more than about 8 seconds of video before it buffers. View 14 Replies View RelatedUbuntu 9.10. I can still watch videos that I have downloaded. Whenever I watch a video online, no matter which browser, it crashes, goes back to the login screen, when I log back in all windows have been closed.
EDIT: It doesn't crash if I'm playing a video but on a different tab in my browser, I'm pretty sure this means it is a problem with the screen but I may be wrong.
I'm using a Samsung NC10 netbook. It has always worked before.

I'm learning a foreign language. There are several online sites that have Flash video in the language I'm learning (e.g., Hulu), which is great. Unfortunately, they have English subtitles, which is (depending on who you ask) somewhere between "annoying" and "actively harmful to my learning".When I'm watching them in a window, I can just move them near the bottom of the screen, or put another window over them. That's awkward, but it kind of works.But I'd like to watch them full-screen, on my TV set.
