Ubuntu Multimedia :: Possible To Watch Quicktime Video Streams In Firefox
May 15, 2011I have installed the gecko-mediaplayer plugin for Firefox and I am wondering if it is possible to watch quicktime video streams in Firefox.

View 9 RepliesI searched and found threads recommending mozilla-mplayer plugin in the synaptic packet thingymejig. Couldn't find it there myself and although I found a mplayer plugin in the other Ubuntu software library installation program, it didn't allow me to install it (there wasn't an install button!).
So is there a recommended way of getting Firefox to show mms streams?
I can't seem to get DivX streams to buffer long enough to watch them. I have installed DivX plugins and tried to use VLC, neither which, allow me to pause the video and allow the buffer to load. On Winblows and Mac, There was a different player that handled DivX streams that allowed for large buffering. I checked the /tmp folder while attempting to watch and the stream is not there. Is there another folder I should see the stream in? Is there a bug with the software, or can you only buffer DivX streams as long as they are running? I have a slow DSL connection and have no other way, other than torrents, to watch movies. And I would much rather wait a few minutes to watch the entire movie, than wait a few hours for the torrent to finish downloading.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a video file in which the audio runs faster than the video, so they quickly go out of sync. The way to fix it would be to separate the audio and video streams, speed up the video (the audio is FINE, it's the video that's wrong), and then recombining them. What is the easiest way for doing that?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a program of some kind that I can combine 4 (if not 2 minimum) streams of video into one file. The only program so far that I've found that does this is avisynth but I can't seem to make it work at all. Does it even work under ubuntu? I've tried numerous guides and how to's but nothing seems to be working.
Basically I just need something that will take a video file, from several different sources (cameras placed around a car) and be able to place them in a grid form into one file. Basically in a format like this, where each letter is a different video file:
a b
c d

I'm trying to play quicktime (streaming) movies in firefox and therefore followed this guide: MPlayer Mozilla/Firefox plugin But it didn't succeed as i don't find the mplayer plugin in my add-ons of firefox. I placed the mplayerplug-in.so file into /home/.mozilla/plugins and /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins folder but without success.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm using Dell inspiron 1210 and installed netbook remix 10.10 recently. But I have trouble with watching video files with any players, including built-in player, SMPlayer, VLC media player.
Video is not appear with those players and can see only black screens. Sound works well. I think there are some troubles with codecs, But though I installed some codecs and restricted-extra, there are no improvements. What should I do to see video with this system? Those video files can be watched with my desktop;Ubuntu 10.04 and VLC player so I think files has no problem. Dell inspiron 1210 specification; Intel Atom Z530, GMA500, 1GB Ram. GMA500 driver has installed.
If you go to [URL].. and pick any video it will play the commercial but not the video. I have 64 bit version of flash installed on ubuntu and it plays fine. Any ideas why it does not play. I chose a random video to see what I mean. You can post the link below to see.[URL].. how to make it play on Debian. I have flash and sun java plugin installed.

EDIT: It doesn't crash if I'm playing a video but on a different tab in my browser, I'm pretty sure this means it is a problem with the screen but I may be wrong.
I'm using a Samsung NC10 netbook. It has always worked before.
And another thing, I used to be able to use Extra visual effects but now it says it can't find drivers, where can I find drivers for my screen?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to have QuickTime playback support in Firefox. I did find some "compile from code" packages and some rpms but they apparently have quite a bit of dependencies, at least one of them had quite a lot! Since figuring out dependencies is one of YUM's main attractions I gave it a go with:
[root@localhost yum.repos.d]# yum search quicktime
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
* addons: www.ontime1405.com

I've decided to start backing up my dvd collection. I want to extract all of the audio, video, and subtitle streams individually (from the main movie title only). Then for convenience and usability I want to put them all in a .mkv container. How can I do this and with which programs? ffmpeg, vlc, mplayer? If I can do this all at once, that's fine. But I don't want to get the streams out of sync.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm an excited newcomer in ubuntu and i'm also an animator. and i have problem playing all streaming video from this particular website (the 11 second club), probably they use quicktime plugin or something. In addition, we can play the stream frame by frame so we can check the animation more details on poses.
could you guys help me out with this...? this website is an important learning centre for me, and definitely for many animators out there who use ubuntu.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am aware of the multitude of firefox addons there are, but they are not really what I am looking for. I am also aware that I can just recover the temp files from my hard drive, that is not what I am looking for either. I was wondering if you guys knew of any actual software for linux that does the job, something like orbit downloader. The reason being is that orbit allowed multiple http connections at once, making for much faster downloads, much more efficient on system resources that browser addons. It was also in a neat little menu.
