Unfortunately the installation progress stops in 88% and the message error says "error copy live image to the disk". I have burn two different cd but the result is always the same.Is it a hardware problem or the cd is not correct?I had the 11.2 version in the same pc without any problem for a long time.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm a Linux newbie and are trying to install F13 from bootable USB onto the HD of a DELL mini netbook. I've followed the install wizard's defaults including the "Use All Space option." The install errors out at about 20% of progress during the "Copying live image to hard drive" process. The error dialog is as followed:"There was an error installing the live image to your hard drive. This could be due to bad media. Please verify your installation media..." and it comes with options to Exit installer or Retry. I have since retried and restarted several times and still came to the same error. FYI, I've initially attempted to install F13 to the HD over an existing Windows XP.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOkay, so bear with me for the lack of detail, its 3:46am and I'm really a beginner at this. So here is my issue: I decided I wanted to try Linux, so i got a Disc Image of Opensuse 11.3. while burning this disc image to a DVD-R I had no issues. But after the Validation was done an error appeared stating the disc Image was not burnt due to some error (apologies for not paying too close attention here) although the entire burn completed without issue. So I closed it and figured I would try again with another Disk when i get one.
Well as it turns out I did burn the Disc Image, and decided to try the Install. I have previously installed Ubuntu a few times and figured it was just as easy.. so I restarted my computer and booted from the CD. went through the Installation up to the Partition part.. This kind of confused me at first but I eventually got that it wanted to shrink my existing windows partition in order to make room. so i went along with it and began the install. well about halfway through the installation error messages kept showing telling me there were missing Packs. after about 10 messages I aborted the install for fear of what would happen now i have a shrunken partition and i dont know how to fix or what to do. I would still like to install opensuse but i dont have anymore DVD-R's and my Flash drive is too small. I will try to provide any info i can upon request. Oh, I forgot to mention im Running windows 7. if that helps at all which I doubt it does. I can safely access windows, nothing happened to the information on my drive. Im just missing 50GB of space now.
I have wordpress server running on my machine and I have SELinux enabled for enforcing/targeted. I am unable to insert images, music, etc from the add new post field on the wordpress dashboard. I receive the following error:
image.jpg has failed to upload due to an error The uploaded file could not be moved to /var/www/html/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/10. When I disable SELinux completely, it works fine. Does anyone know what Boolean I need to check to resolve this issue?
I created a ISO under DeVeeDee and went to burn it with Brasero (also tried with K3B) and they both came up with error messages.k3b comes up with "Internal error. Short read! Please report" and stops at around 3% and 3-4 minutes into burning. The same error happens under Brasero, it'll stop after a few minutes.

I have burned another DVD using Infra Recorder with minimum write speed but with the same problem. I have Ubuntu already installed on the computer.

I installed AcetoneISO (Debian 6) and when I try to mount any .iso image, even one that is created on AcetoneISO I can't! I got an error. Error, could not mount image.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to do a new install of OpenSUSE 11.2 x86-64 by burning a network install disk. I am having trouble getting it to work on my hardware however. Whenever I boot up with the disc, I get a "image checksum error." I have tried to redownload the image and also reburn it. The disc will boot in VirtualBox but will not boot on the machine. I do not understand what could be causing this because the CD drive in the machine is working just fine.

Since I got this error I can not install anything on the system nor do updates or upgrades.
I tried "yum clean all" and get no errors from that but still can't install via yum
I have a pc I want to clone and it has 2 partitions sda1 which is vfat and sda2 ntfs. When I had mounted my external hdd it was seen as sdc1 and my Knoppix boot as sdb1. I tried using the following command to copy the pc image to my external but when it gets to 26Gb it gives read error.

mount -t ntfs -o rw /dev/sdc1 ./mybackup
dd if=/dev/sda of=./mybackup/780.iso bs=4096 conv=notrunc,noerror
Where am I going wrong? Is there anything wrong with my above commands?
There is this server that I have just put with Bugzilla. It needs Image::Magick module for rendering bmp or other image types to png to save some disk space and compress the images.
The best way to install it is using CPAN repos. And it gives whole lot of errors. I am attaching the file for errors.
But if try to install from cpan console it says Image::Magick is already the recent version.

I have an Intel Core2 Duo system that is currently running the 32-bit version of Fedora 12. I want to upgrade the system to Fedora 14.I downloaded the DVD installation ISO for Fedora 14, and I used unetbootin on an 8 Gigabytes USB flash drive to created a bootable disk from the installation ISO.
When I boot off the USB drive, the installation process will run. I get to a screen concerning the boot loader. I use GRUB to dual boot the system between a Fedora and Windows 7.What is needed to resolve this issue so the installer can proceed properly and perform the upgrade?

HP 5610 all in one device scanner settings please. The printer works fine, I have a problem getting the Scanner to work.
I am running Ubuntu Karmic on my Dual Core Desktop PC. When I run Xsane I get the preview window showing OfficeJet 5600 Series. I also get another little error window saying "Error during CMS conversion:Could not open Scanner ICM profile". It seems like Xsane recognises my HP 5610 All in One Printer/Scanner/Fax/Copier device but what is the error all about?
recently my HP Pavilion's Western Digital (WD2500JS) HDD has begun failing (bluescreens, slow, etc...). I was able to attach it to another computer using a IDE to USB adapter and save my personal files (pics, music, etc...), so the drive has not yet completely died. So I bought a SATA Seagate Barracuda 500GB HDD and wanted to use my restore discs that HP made me purchase off of them to reinstall my Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, which OF COURSE didn't work. So after researching a bit I found the best idea would be to make and Image copy of the original HDD and put it on the new one. So I tried using Clonezilla which ran in an endless loop giving error after error for hours while trying to image the disk. Fortunately my work has a ImageMASSter 4004i which is a piece of hardware that does a direct, drive to drive image from the Master drive to the destination drive.
But unfortunately this didn't work either. It was telling me that their was an error within the destination drive, something like "0x84 URMWT Sequencer failed to complete". Does the drive need to be completely empty?Should I reformat it before I try this (if so which FS?)? I plugged it into my laptop with USB to SATA adapter and was unable to mount it (this was after I had it in the Imaging Hardware Device, not sure if that could have screwed something up). The strange thing is that the last couple of days the new drive did work, I was using it for temporary storage of some files.

I installed ubuntu 10.10 on my laptop and configured a lot(mainly setup git, heroku, rails etc), installed and setup lot of things on it to suit my needs. Now I want to move this setup to another machine and want to avoid all the setup again. Is there a way I can create an installer out of my existing ubuntu installation/partition which I can reuse for other machines?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have ubuntu 10.04.1 and a H.P.psc 1311 all-in-one printer scanner.Printer works ok but when trying to scan,with xsane,it goes through the scanning process and an image of the document comes up on the screen.
When I try to save this image to desktop or file/folder whatever I get the message; "Child Process Error. Failed to execute OCR command:GOCR:no such file or directory."
I have installed Debian maybe 30 times over the years since about 2003, stable, testing and Sid on two different desktops and two different laptops. The only problem I have ever had is sometimes with a flaky daily build. It is one of my favorite distros.
BUT, I am totally frustrated is trying to install to a USB. I have followed the manual step by step about 6 times in the past two weeks. The result is always the same. The installation fails to find an installation iso image. Yes, I know the iso image and the hd-media vmlinuz and initrd.gz files are supposed to be the same version.

The USB boots to a Language selection screen and proceeds through the Keyboard selection screen with no problems.
The next step which searches for an installation iso image fails.
Skipping that step and trying to load installer components from iso image also fails.
Searching the entire PC for an installation iso image also fails. (I even copied the netinst iso image to the HD root directory.)
When playing dvd's, vob files and wmv files, the image comes with high contrast colors ,very intense red/green/blue. very dark too. I have vlc 1.1.4 installed, using ubuntu 10.10, libdvdcss2 installed. for the rest of the video formats it seems to work fine. any ideas on what should I start debugging?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was given a forensic Image which I now know is a DD image of the drive (Vista) and am trying to mount the image or extract the image to another drive. I'm not sure of the extention type or if the image is a partition or the entire drive. I think it is the entire drive.
Is it possible to mount a DD image to a device. If I can't do that I just want to extract the files to run some programs against the drive. Can I view the files under Ubuntu or do I have to remove the drive and stick it into a Vista computer.
I purchased a second drive today and was hoping the command line would be something simple.
Or am I on the wrong track, should I be doing this all in a windows environment. The reason I picked ubuntu was because of the reporting tools.
I would like to change my startup image (usplash image). For that i change /lib/plymouth/themes/ubuntu-logo/ubuntu_logo.png and /lib/plymouth/themes/ubuntu-logo/ubuntu_logo16.png. Then the splash screen of shutdown screen changes .But booting screen doesnot change.
