Apr 2, 2010I was installing a new system today and received this error message in terminal.
Error: database disk image is malformed
Since I got this error I can not install anything on the system nor do updates or upgrades.
I tried "yum clean all" and get no errors from that but still can't install via yum

I already try clean yum cache and remove checksum data, rebuild rpm db, check / partition,
but no luck, problem still occurs.

Aug 25, 2010Any time I've tried to run 'yum search' or 'yum info' I end up getting a error "database disk image is malformed"

I am, however, able to update and install software without this error occuring.
I've tried the 'yum clean all", "yum clean metadata", "yum clean datacache", and rebuilding with "yum makecache", but still this problem crops up. As I understand it, the error message comes from something possibly not having been updated properly in one of the sqlite databases that yum stores information in. I probably could fix it if I knew which sqlite db that 'yum search' and 'yum info' hit.

Dec 9, 2010i created a db_dump from PostgreSql-8.2 and trying to dump it into PostgreSql-8.4 new install. 2 of the 3 databases are fine, except for minor issues, but the 3rd database is giving me the following error message when i start a service calling on it, assist: "database disk image is malformed"

Aug 25, 2010I'm a Linux newbie and are trying to install F13 from bootable USB onto the HD of a DELL mini netbook. I've followed the install wizard's defaults including the "Use All Space option." The install errors out at about 20% of progress during the "Copying live image to hard drive" process. The error dialog is as followed:"There was an error installing the live image to your hard drive. This could be due to bad media. Please verify your installation media..." and it comes with options to Exit installer or Retry. I have since retried and restarted several times and still came to the same error. FYI, I've initially attempted to install F13 to the HD over an existing Windows XP.

Hardware :: Endless Loop Giving Error While Trying To Image Disk
May 11, 2011recently my HP Pavilion's Western Digital (WD2500JS) HDD has begun failing (bluescreens, slow, etc...). I was able to attach it to another computer using a IDE to USB adapter and save my personal files (pics, music, etc...), so the drive has not yet completely died. So I bought a SATA Seagate Barracuda 500GB HDD and wanted to use my restore discs that HP made me purchase off of them to reinstall my Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, which OF COURSE didn't work. So after researching a bit I found the best idea would be to make and Image copy of the original HDD and put it on the new one. So I tried using Clonezilla which ran in an endless loop giving error after error for hours while trying to image the disk. Fortunately my work has a ImageMASSter 4004i which is a piece of hardware that does a direct, drive to drive image from the Master drive to the destination drive.
But unfortunately this didn't work either. It was telling me that their was an error within the destination drive, something like "0x84 URMWT Sequencer failed to complete". Does the drive need to be completely empty?Should I reformat it before I try this (if so which FS?)? I plugged it into my laptop with USB to SATA adapter and was unable to mount it (this was after I had it in the Imaging Hardware Device, not sure if that could have screwed something up). The strange thing is that the last couple of days the new drive did work, I was using it for temporary storage of some files.

Ubuntu Installation :: Update Manager Error - Malformed Line 47 In Source List
Jan 25, 2011When opening "Update-manager" I get this error:
E:Malformed line 47 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse)
What I was trying to do was update my Opera web browser, when I tried, Ubuntu told me that I was attempting to download from an unauthenticated source, I checked the software sources list and Opera was in there, so I deleted it and re-added it, I must have done it wrong because after closing out and refreshing "Update-manager" it gave me the error above and closed. So now I can't update anything.

Apr 15, 2011I need to expand a 15GB xen disk ".img" to 50GB, it's got centos as the guest O/S.
I've been googling and there are alot of results but I'm still having trouble.
I don't remember if I used the default LVM partition scheme or if I did a FS. In fdisk it says linux partition but that's it.
I did the dd and cat method but fsck is complaining like usual.
I dd a file called tempfile and the append it using cat tempfile >> my.img then did resize2fs -f but it error out with "Bad Magic number on super block."

Nov 1, 2010I have wordpress server running on my machine and I have SELinux enabled for enforcing/targeted. I am unable to insert images, music, etc from the add new post field on the wordpress dashboard. I receive the following error:
image.jpg has failed to upload due to an error The uploaded file could not be moved to /var/www/html/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/10. When I disable SELinux completely, it works fine. Does anyone know what Boolean I need to check to resolve this issue?

Dec 22, 2009I'm trying to install Fedora for the first time on my Desktop. Unfortunately, upon restart once the installation is complete I get the following error:

This is from Fedora 12 x86_64 DVD. I presume that this obviously has to do with my disk selection during partitioning, during which I deselcted the two drives that I didn't want to be part of the install and left the one that I did selected. I also selected "use entire disk". The drive had copies of both Ubuntu and Windows 7 on it, which I expect were wiped out during install.
I know that the details are sparse...but that's all I did. I'm happy to go back into the installer to retreive any necessary information that may be needed/to reinstall.

What I did was copy the site in /var/www, reconfigure the httpd.conf (DocumentRoot /var/www/site, etc). CentOS 5 Hardware :: All Discs Show As "Blank", While Konqueror Give "Malformed URL" Error?
Jan 19, 2009I am running CentOS 5.2 on several custom built Advantech machines that are having issues reading discs.Every time I insert a disc into the drive, (be it DVD, DVD-R, CD, CD-R, etc.) the disc shows up as a blank disc, (this happens in both KDE and GDM). When I try to open the disc and Konqueror opens, it gives me a "Malformed URL" error (probably just because it thinks it's blank).
The odd thing is, some of these systems were built with a Plextor PX-760A drive, and they work fine, but newer ones with the PX-820A drive don't. Also, the hardware itself is functional because it can read discs fine to boot off of, it just has this issue once in CentOS. I tried booting with the CentOS Live CD, and it still gives me the same problem, but when I boot to Ubuntu 8.4 from my USB stick, I don't have this issue- Plextor PX-820A DVD-RW drive (IDE)- Intel Pentium D 3.4GHz- PLENTY-o-RAM

I tried firefox --safe-mode,the same dialog pops up but after pressing ok, the "Firefox Safe Mode" dialog shows. No matter what I select on this dialog, firefox simply never comes up! Jan 18, 2010I did a horrible mistake due to lapse in my concentration. Here is the 80 GB IDE disk geometry:
=> C: Windows XP SP2 15 GB partition
=> D: NTFS parition - 10 GB
=> E:F:G:H: NTFS partitions on the Windows Extended partition.
=> On the same Extended partition, there exists Linux /swap and /root partitions.
What happened was:
a) I wanted to delete the H: parition which was residing adjacent to Linux partition
b) By mistake I opened the Explorer and clicked the Mouse on H: partition and left it like that (forgot)
c) I opened Add/Remove program list but did nothing, to do few uninstalls after partition deletion.
d) Now I opened compmgmt.msc for Disk Management then deleted the H: partition!
Then XP reacted strangely and got almost hung
e) Then I switched OFF and ON the PC.
f) Most shocking was GRUB screen vanished (crash console appears) which means that Linux partition got deleted instead of H: partition!!
It's important to share with you that Fedora Core 12 possess the default BOOT flag. I thought that it's nothing big deal, only a case of Boot flag toggle with DOS bootable CD but am shell shocked to find after hitting the fdisk from DOS it says Error reading the disk!!! I felt like collapsed for a while, don't know how I did such a mistake. how to boot into my Windows XP. I can't afford to loose data or bear the expense on Data recovery
