Ubuntu :: Square Brackets On Forward Subjects (Evolution)?
Feb 18, 2010
When using Evolution and forwarding a message, the composer automatically wraps the subject in [square brackets], I've looked at Preferences but cannot see where to disable them,
I have been trying to figure out how to forward a message without showing all of the previous subjects under the header. I would like to be able to highlight and remove the subjects, but it deletes the whole message. Only Outlook, Telus Web Mail, and Hotmail behave in the desired way, but I would like to have a native Linux email client on my machine to do this.
I have a "Forward to" filter set up in Evolution. It halfway works. The emails I want forwarded are matched and put in my Outbox. The problem is that the emails are never sent. I have to manually click the "Send / Receive" button. If left alone, the emails will sit there over the weekend, never sending until I hit Send / Receive.
I have set up evolution with two POP account and it deleted all my mails from the servers, migrating them on the local machine.
How could I forward all the messages from Evolution to a mail account so I can access them over the Internet?
Forwarding all of them as attachment doesn't, because many of the emails themselves have attachment and it gives an error saying attachment type not supported.
If I try forwarding inline or quoted I have to forward them one by one and there are around 4000.
I installed 10.04 on a machine up at work, and grabbed all of the updates. Whenever I when to import the PST file into Evolution, I ran into a problem. In the Import Assistant, the dropdown menu with all of the file types are grayed out, and whenever I select the .PST file to import, the Forward button is grayed out as well. Has anyone come across the problem before? I tried reinstalling Evolution, but that didn't have any effect on it. Still got the same problem.
Does anyone know how to set up Mr. Postman?I downloaded it, thought I installed it and now can't figure out how to open it.Trying to configure it to work with Evolution.
What do the numbers in brackets mean? (I tried looking, but I don't know how to start to search for the answer to that without being too vague). I've noticed they're nearly always progressive (increasing). Do they just refer to the event number? And in my log file viewer, why is there a dmesg and a dmesg.0?
In the file /var/log/kern.log, I see kernel logs in the following format, Oct 6 11:18:30 machine kernel: [212.443755] Some logs... What are the numbers in the bracket [212.443755] stands for?
The letters in brackets in bookmarks in Opera? and how can i delete them because they are not visible in manage bookmarks?
Also how can i get rid of the "Shut-down in 60 secs" message when i shut it down? Or at least can i alter the time till shutdown? Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit by the way
The way I organize all my files into their folders, they add up quickly. I like having a quick way to keep more frequently accessed folders at the top of the list in explorer. In windows, folder "[zippidy do da]" would appear above folder "aardvark" because of the brackets, but Ubuntu's file browser ignores the brackets, making my old method ineffective. I could put a zero in front of such folders
I came across this reult of the type command (hashed) in another post. (see below).
Code:
fraespappp8:/data/apps > type topic_file_publish.sh topic_file_publish.sh is hashed (/data/apps/pnbgstk/publication/topic_file_publish.sh) This (result = hashed) is new to me.
I have been using Cairo dock for a little while now with little problems. I have hooked up a monitor to my Lenovo T60 laptop for the first time. Problem is the Cairo Dock now spreads across both screens (which I can live with) and has an ugly black square around it that prevents me from using the bottom of the screen.
There is a similar query here ([URL]...ighlight=cairo)
I've noticed the square script has been removed from adobes site for now. Does someone still have the script downloaded because I was messing with my system and decided to remove all flash scripts. Now, I can't get it back. Let me know if anyone has it dl'ed.
I am trying to modify the sample program pcm.c(which generates a sine wave) from the alsa website to produce a square wave.Square wave = sign(sinusoidal wave)So then why isn't the following code creating a square wave:
After I upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04, my monitor was fine. Then, after a day, when set at 1024 X 768 the screen is distorted so the sides of the desktop are very curved. What's going on?
See screen, if my wife logs in then it doesn't show, jus under my login, weird b/c it was working without this back square last night. Cairo settings look the same for both users.
I have installed following this guide [URL]... x_and_Mac_OS/X but I have an hp g71 349wm with intel chipsets, on ubuntu 10.10 I can't use nvidia, my system hates me if I try to install those drivers, that guide says I need either nvidia or ati drivers, I have not tried to get ati drivers going as when I tried to get nvidia going, my system totally crashed and ended up being totally unrecoverable for some reason, anyway my problem is that after installing pylotro and lotro and patching, I start it up and all I get is a big black square on the top left side of my screen.. no idea what to do to make this work. the only way to get rid of the square is to reboot.
I just upgraded from Slackware 12.2 to 13 and most things seem to be working fine (with the exception of the new Amarok, which crashes). However, in the GTK applications I use (Firefox, Gimp, Aumix), all the fonts have been replaced by square boxes.point me in the right direction on troubleshooting this problem? Did I miss a step or do something wrong while upgrading?
Is there a way to achieve the following with the square bracket operator?I have a class:
Code: Select allclass A { public: void SetValue(int index, Item* B); private: int m_iCount; ItemCollection Item_Collection;
[code]....
The probelm is that I am not just blindly assigning whatever given on the right hand side to the returned value from operator [], I need to verify it's not NULL, and it is not already there in the Item_Collection, and I also need to increase the count.
Im doing a sudoku-solver as a school assigment in Java. It is supposed to solve both 6x6, 9x9 and 12x12 boards.Im pretty much done with my algorithm(brute force), but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to calculate the right Box for a Square. I found this snippet:
Code:
// calculate BoardPos for index, where index is 0..80 void loadBoardPosFromIndex(BoardPos &pos, int index) { pos.index = index;
[code]...
This works on 9x9 boards, but I really dont get the math behind this, and how I can create a generic rule for both 6x6, 9x9 and 12x12 boards.
I was wondering if you could help me out with this Flash problem: sometimes, Flash elements don't play in my browser window - there's just a big white area where my Flash should be. I have to close and re-open Firefox. This especially happens when I activate the "Flashblock" plugin, a very useful tool that blocks all Flash unless you click on it and choose to play it. Whenever I have that enabled, most of the time, clicking on the "play" button produces the white area where the Flash object should be. It's Karmic 64 and Firefox 3.5, Shockwave Flash 10.0.
I downloaded Fedora 13 today and tried the live cd, however, after booting my mouse was a square that is white and scrambled. I am trying the KDE version and it also has no task bar or anything other than a window with icon to install. nothing else is there.
I have a couple things I think is my video card. One annoying thing it does is to put half inch square boxes in random places and times that might be trying to display what was in that spot before you changed the window. Sometimes it can be important information so I had to find a way to do something about it. I couldn't get rid of them but I could move them out of the way by moving the pointer to a different area and turning the scroll wheel. That would put the square in the new area where the pointer was.
The other thing is very bad scroll control. Sometimes I would have to use the arrows in the corner. Sometimes I had to drag the slider which moved hard, not at all or very delayed. The squares also make highlighting very difficult. Because an area will not be highlighted you don't know the results until you paste it. It might be perfect. I believe the video card is on the motherboard. I do have a spare slot so If needed I could put in a new one. Where is my title bar at the top of a screen which allows you to move it around or -minimize or maximize or close.
I've been running the Evolution mail system under Fedora-15/KDE for about a month now, and it has some very serious problems. I just noticed that it is available for SUSE, and figured that since KDE is the principal desktop supported by KDE the SUSE version may be fixed. Before I go through the very tedious process of getting the SUSE version to compile on Fedora, I'd like to know whether anyone has seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution:It ignores font control from the KDE Settings->Applications Appearance window, both KDE font control and GTK+ font control, also its own internal font control window.
It has trouble sending messages to an SMTP server, sometimes taking a l-o-n-g time, sometimes timing out. This can be temporarily cured by restarting it It crashes when a filter attempts to refile an outgoing message. It often asks if I want to recover messages that have never been lost. It often locks up receiving mail from a remote POP3 server. I can live with these, except for items 1 and 2, since I have workarounds. If you are fairly sure that you have not seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution
I had configured the evolution to send/recive email. After it had been configured, it could receive emails. Suddendly it can't fetch email anymore. In the inbox of evolution, there were about 200 emails. There are maybe 5K emails in the server, I guessed. I'm not sure whether it's the problem that there's one email in the server too big, so the evolution can not fetch it. The error of evolution is: error while fetching email. Evolution version: Evolution 2.28.0. OS version: Linux xxx2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686.PAE #1 SMP Wed Mar 3 04:57:21 UTC 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux I'm sure my network is fine, I use pop3 to receive email.

i tried to update my evolution from 2.30.? to 2.32.1 usning
ppa ppa:julenlanda/evolution
Because the exchange plugin didn't work i uninstalled evolution and removed the ppa. Now when i try to install evolution from the software centre i get this: Package dependencies cannot be resolved This error could be caused by required additional software packages which are missing or not installable. Furthermore there could be a conflict between software packages which are not allowed to be installed at the same time. it asks me if I want to repair the catalog, i say yes.
I have been using Fedora 14, which has Evolution 2.32.1 but have recently also installed openSUSE 11.3, which has Evolution 2.30.1.2. I would like to make openSUSE my primary distribution, and so I would like to restore my Evolution settings from Fedora, but Evolution complains that the backup file is invalid. I have tried copying the folders in the backup to their appropriate locations in openSUSE with no luck. I have also tried manually copying with instructions for older versions of openSUSE, but with no luck.
An obvious guess at what might be the problem seems to be that I am trying to restore settings from a newer version to an older version? An obvious thing to try would be to upgrade to Evolution 2.32, but Evolution has a long list of dependencies so before jumping into that fun I thought I would ask if anyone else has had similar problems and found a straight-forward solution. I still have access to my emails in Fedora so this is not hugely pressing, and if upgrading to 11.4 will do the trick then I can just wait for that.
