I've noticed the square script has been removed from adobes site for now. Does someone still have the script downloaded because I was messing with my system and decided to remove all flash scripts. Now, I can't get it back. Let me know if anyone has it dl'ed.
View 7 RepliesI was wondering if you could help me out with this Flash problem: sometimes, Flash elements don't play in my browser window - there's just a big white area where my Flash should be. I have to close and re-open Firefox. This especially happens when I activate the "Flashblock" plugin, a very useful tool that blocks all Flash unless you click on it and choose to play it. Whenever I have that enabled, most of the time, clicking on the "play" button produces the white area where the Flash object should be. It's Karmic 64 and Firefox 3.5, Shockwave Flash 10.0.

I have been using Cairo dock for a little while now with little problems. I have hooked up a monitor to my Lenovo T60 laptop for the first time. Problem is the Cairo Dock now spreads across both screens (which I can live with) and has an ugly black square around it that prevents me from using the bottom of the screen.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have installed following this guide [URL]... x_and_Mac_OS/X but I have an hp g71 349wm with intel chipsets, on ubuntu 10.10 I can't use nvidia, my system hates me if I try to install those drivers, that guide says I need either nvidia or ati drivers, I have not tried to get ati drivers going as when I tried to get nvidia going, my system totally crashed and ended up being totally unrecoverable for some reason, anyway my problem is that after installing pylotro and lotro and patching, I start it up and all I get is a big black square on the top left side of my screen.. no idea what to do to make this work. the only way to get rid of the square is to reboot.

I just upgraded from Slackware 12.2 to 13 and most things seem to be working fine (with the exception of the new Amarok, which crashes).However, in the GTK applications I use (Firefox, Gimp, Aumix), all the fonts have been replaced by square boxes.point me in the right direction on troubleshooting this problem? Did I miss a step or do something wrong while upgrading?

The probelm is that I am not just blindly assigning whatever given on the right hand side to the returned value from operator [], I need to verify it's not NULL, and it is not already there in the Item_Collection, and I also need to increase the count.

I downloaded Fedora 13 today and tried the live cd, however, after booting my mouse was a square that is white and scrambled. I am trying the KDE version and it also has no task bar or anything other than a window with icon to install. nothing else is there.

One annoying thing it does is to put half inch square boxes in random places and times that might be trying to display what was in that spot before you changed the window. Sometimes it can be important information so I had to find a way to do something about it. I couldn't get rid of them but I could move them out of the way by moving the pointer to a different area and turning the scroll wheel. That would put the square in the new area where the pointer was.
The other thing is very bad scroll control. Sometimes I would have to use the arrows in the corner. Sometimes I had to drag the slider which moved hard, not at all or very delayed. The squares also make highlighting very difficult. Because an area will not be highlighted you don't know the results until you paste it. It might be perfect. I believe the video card is on the motherboard. I do have a spare slot so If needed I could put in a new one. Where is my title bar at the top of a screen which allows you to move it around or -minimize or maximize or close.
Part way through the installation of Fedora 13 the installation stops with 510 square blocks displayed. The blocks are arranged in a 17 by 30 pattern and have two different colors. This happens with 3 different versions of Fedora 13. The 32 bit live CD version, the 32 bit version and the 64 bit version. I am able to start a live CD version of Fedora 10 but not the live CD version of Fedora 13 on this computer. The computer has an Asus P6X58D Premium mother board, an Intel i7-950 CPU and an EVGA GeForce GT 240 display.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I go to, say ..... or even speedtest.net the flash there is almost unusable. Mouse over interaction works perfectly. However, when you click on something (say a play button) its a complete crapshoot. Sometimes it works, some times you have to click dozens (often more) of times before it will respond. I had an older install of 9.10 (granted it was a while ago and I believe it was 32bit) and I don't ever remember having this issue and I just removed an openSUSE install that I know didn't have this issue. So far my only attempts to fix this would be the remove --purge of the restricted extras pack and reinstalling it. I have also tried installing flash through the Software Center. This particular issue exists in both Firefox and Chrome and I'm not too sure what to make of it. On boot, for some reason, my main volume is always turned all the way down and muted.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi was using ubuntu 09.10 and everything worked fine. when i upgrated to the new version, i had no sound using videos.i installed the version flash 10 and flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound from package manager and the problem was fixed for a few days. suddenly, i had no sound again. other sound applications work properly.i checked the plugins of mozilla and discovered that the shockwave flash version was 9.0 r31! however, the package manager says that the 10 version is installed!i tried to upgrade the version of the plugin. it sends me to a link of adobe where i can download a tar.gz file. i follow the instructions:
<installation instructions for tar.gz1. click the download link to begin installation. a dialog box will appear asking you where to save the file.2. save the .tar.gz file to your desktop and wait for the file to download completely.3. unpackage the file. a directory called install_flash_player_10_linux will be created.4. in terminal, navigate to this directory and type ./flashplayer-installer to run the installer. click enter. the installer will instruct you to shut down your browser(s).5. once the installation is complete, the plug-in will be installed in your mozilla browser. to verify, launch mozilla and choose help > about plug-ins from the browser menu.>when i open the tar.gz file, i only see a file named libflashplayer.so, which is extracted as such. no match with the previous instructions and as a result i cannot follow them to install that file.
Another post regarding the Firefox/Flash issue on Ubuntu 10.04 ... My main question is that I don't understand why Flash in Firefox (Huffington Post videos of The Daily Show) works differently on two computers that are identically configured (but cf. below):
- both have Firefox 3.6.3;
- within Firefox aboutlugins, all plugins with "flash" are the same;
- within Synaptic, all things that have "mozilla", "flash", "adobe" are identically installed on both (that includes Adobe Flash plugin Version 10.1.53.64ubuntu0.10.04.1)
The only difference is that the computer where it works is a 64bit system, the one where it doesn't work is a 32bit system. Can this be true, that this is the thing that makes this huge difference? Any fixes around for that (other than FlashAID)?
Recently in the course of normal nightly updates my Firefox got updated to a newer version. I believe that it was a security update, so I don't really want to roll back to an earlier version (I went from 3.5.x to 3.6.8), but I am having some issues with the current version. One of the more annoying issues is that a previous bug that was fixed has resurfaced, and now the prior solution no longer works. The only way I can left-click within Flash and have it work is by holding down the right mouse button at the same time as I click. Previously I was able to get around this with this fix:

That line is still there, and I even tried reinstalling flash (using the FLASH-AID plugin someone on these boards wrote), but nadda. The problem does not exist in free standing flash applications and flash running in Chrome works fine, and it worked fine in Firefox before the upgrade.
whenever i use flash, e.g streaming a video on videos, the computer logs off (although it also closes all the windows so may be actually restarts).
when i log back on the sound also doesn't work, i have to reboot for it to come back on.
i'm sure this is to do with the flash-plugin and not the browser as i have tried many different browsers with the same result.
I have followed the multimedia guide here and installed all the content but when I go to play farmville or frontierville it says I need to update flash. I am still new at ubuntu a side note if it is a command line entry I dont mind at all I am learning I like them more and more.
