I am using the Shift Switcher on Compiz to switch windows. Also i don't use any taskbar to show what apps are open or not. Minimized windows are simply "invisible" as it were. When switching, minimized windows are represented by their icons. Instead i would like to see them as a thumbnail (as with maximized windows). Can i make Compiz do that?

Is there anyway that the Workspace Switcher can show Minimised Windows.I can see Maximised Windows OK but can't see if I have any minimised unless I do the Alt Tab move then they show up in the centre of my screen.

button 1 is left click
button 2 is right click
button 4 is scroll up
button 5 is scroll down
so i assumed that either button 3 or 6 might be scroll wheel click apparently not i know that the scroll click works on my mouse in ubuntu anyone know the correct button number, or if it is 3 or 6, what i am doing wrong ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm pretty sure I saw this described on this board, with a screenshot, but I simply can't find anything about it: A window switcher (probably a compiz plugin) that displays a 3D view of all windows lying flat on a receding surface, with the selected one flipping up upright.
I assumed it was built in to compiz, but when I went to look it was not any one of the ones I can find in ccsm - must be a separate package. And by then I had closed the post.
I've been tweeking my gnome setup a lot lately...I have a 14 inch screen on my laptop and decided I didn't need title bars anymore....so I added a bunch new hot keys andinstead of eliminating the title bare, which kills the borders too, I changed the width to a minimum.If I use the window switcher, I can only see the window if that window is not minimized. All one can see is an icon telling you what program that window is using if that window is minimized. It looks great if the window is open on the desktop.Are there any work arounds anyone know s of or better compiz setups I could use ?

But for some reason there is no obvious way to change the transparency of applets. Their transparency depends on the current theme. For example with the theme "radiance" window-switcher and date are opaque. With "human-clearlooks" both are transparent.
Is there a way change the transparency without changing the theme?
I've recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx and I don't like the fact the my viewpoint is being change when I use the window switcher (ALT+TAB). I tried going to the gconf-editor and changing the /apps/compiz/plugins/staticswitcher/screen0/options/auto_change_vp value to false, restarted.. it IS set to false, the CompizConfig settings manager shows that it is false, but for some reason it is still changing the viewpoint.
I tried disabling the window switcher completely just to see that the configuration works at all.. and it did work.. so, I'm not sure what to do so the view point won't change.
Any of you ever heard of OS/2 WARP? My dad is a longtime user, as was I until I got my Mac (and now my netbook with Ubuntu). In any case, the OS is a tad...obsolete and my dad at some point wishes to try Ubuntu. In his current setup, he has a "Window List" that can be activated using a keyboard shortcut. It's a popup (not in a menu bar or "panel") that can be moved around and resized. From that you can use your keyboard to navigate to the program or window that you want. For instance, if I want to get to Firefox, I press Ctrl+Escape (to activate the Window List) and then I hit "F" as many times as needed to highlight "Firefox". Then I just hit "Enter" and I'm there. Anything similar out there for Ubuntu (it is preferable if the solution has text as well as icons or else can have the icons removed leaving only the text)
In addition, both him and I would be interested in some program for launching/switching to programs using keyboard shortcuts. On the Mac, I use Quicksilver for this, where it actually Launches the program if it's not open, and switches to it if it is. However, Gnome Do unfortunately lacks this functionality and I have no way to do it off the top of my head.
I want to start a virtual machine on another window panel, but I'm not sure what the command for this would be.
I have:

in my autostart.sh.
Do I need to install Compiz to get this shortcut to work? Doesn't seem to work for me after a fresh install, despite being a godsend for me when I had 9.10...
View 2 Replies View Relatedon desktop, my mouse works normal. i can open programs normally, BUT, when i try to click inside some window, pointer turns into closed hand, that symbols dragging. i can move the window that way, but can't click anything except when holding shift, alt or ctrl.it's probably my fault, but i don't remember pressing anything different than usually. oh, and, it started in the middle of the session, i tried to reboot several times, tried recovery too, after that updated but no help there.i was looking for solution on google but can't find anything for days, i cant think of anything but reinstallation

How can i disable the transparency of minimized applications. I attached a SS to explain it. I want the icon pointed by arrow to be non transparent, same as icon at the right of it.
Most of the times I open a program (either Evolution or Liferea) from the MeMenu, it appears shifted below. By this I mean that, even if the window is maximized, it does not reach the panel, leaving a strip where one can see behind. But, when one tries to click on anything, it behaves like if the window was in place.So, in order to click on some area, I have to aim some 50px or so above it. Of course this is not very comfortable. Stangely enough, this does no happen if I get the focus of Evolution or Liferea by some other means, such as Alt+Tab or clicking on the sidebar.

i don't know what happened, I was doing the ctrl+alt+fn thing to pan around my desktops, and i think i somehow assigned the mouse to automatically right click on its own whenever i move it or anything. This is really messed up. It's like a virus. Just writing this the right click window has come up about 20 times and there's now a dozen new folders on my desktop. How do I fix this? I tried adding tomboy to System -> Preferences -> Startup Applications, but then Tomboy opens up in full-screen mode.
