I'm trying to send an e-mail to my g-mail address using Postfix on Ubuntu server but when I check the postq, it shows me that the connection to gmail on port 25 is timed out. I have a router that forward port 25 to the machine.
View 2 RepliesSince the upgrade from Lenny to Squeeze on my Notebook Toshiba Satellite Pro U200 with Intel Pro/Wireless 3945 ABG I have wireless connection problems.The connection breaks time to time and sometimes cannot connect automaticaly after restart. BTW I didn't change anything on the wireless or network configurations on the notebook and on the wiereless router.

When I have video running and the video stops, I see that the connection is destroyed in about 5 seconds, which is what I want. If, rather than stopping the video, I pull the plug, I have seen it take 350 and 380 seconds before the connection is destroyed. Why is there such a large difference in the time to destroy a video connection between stopping the video and pulling the plug on it when using net filter connection tracking? How can I shorten the time for the connection to get destroyed when pulling the plug?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI notice that when someone sends a message from my Postfix server & it can't find the destination server or if there is a incorrect domain recipient entered by mistake, it sits in my Postfix queue for days. I think perhaps 4-5 days for some reason. I was wondering if I could shorten the time so the sender gets a delivery failure message kicked back to them in 24 hours rather than waiting 4 or so days.

so its my first time installing postfix. install is complete i think i did the conf file correct. heres the issue: i can connect send and recieve email on the localhost machine. however outside through my domain or even localy from another machine I cannot access my email. It says connection refused

I'm trying to configure postfix on an ubuntu virtual machine to use gmail as a relay client. For the past two days I have been in and out of the logs, changing parameters and blindly following tutorials but I can't get anything to work properly. So far I've narrowed my problems down to tls connection establishing and a failure to authenticate, judging by the local emails I've received from "The mail system".

And this is strange. 174.132.240.146 seems to be the web address 'net.net'. I am sure this has to be some setting in postfix, cuz its trying to deliver the email to 'fidelix@net', and that cant be right.

I've run into a strange problem on one of the servers I maintain. It's running CentOS 5, fully up to date. The server has Monit installed via RPMforge, and runs Postfix as its MTA. Every day at about 4:20am, when cron is running, Monit loses its connection to Postfix. As far as I can tell, nothing is actually going wrong with Postfix and it's always restarted just fine. I run a couple of Debian servers with very similar setups, and the problem does not occur on them.
Perhaps related, other daemons on the CentOS box often lose their pid files at the time when cron runs, which results in Monit thinking they're not running. One service in particular (zarafa-dagent) is so bad for this that I've had to completely disable monitoring of it in Monit. Again, this problem doesn't occur on the Debian boxes I maintain.The problem isn't hugely urgent as everything still runs fine, but it does mean that pretty much every day I get false positive mail alerts from Monit, which is (a) annoying and (b) makes me more likely to miss a real alert.
I'm using Filezilla to connect to a remote server with site 2 site VPN. Even when i'm sending a small file with SFTP, the connection time outs and reconnects. Its happening again and again. Even SCP connection is also the same. BUT SSH CONNECTION IS WORKING FINE.

I have a wireless connection with static ip 192.168.10.150 to connect to Internet through a modem / router ADSL ip Lan 192.168.10.1. I connect with no problems. I have a wired network in the office 172.16.17.0/24 to work with the servers. the router is 172.16.17.1, my connection eth0 with static ip 172.16.17.150 work, but Internet by Internet nothing. If i disconnect the cable i have Internet from wireless. ?? What i have to do to ,to received internet by wireless and be connected ate same time to my wired network by eth0 too.
all routers have DHCP active.
I am running Ubuntu 10.04 and i have some problems with my intel WiFi 5100AGN. After a randoom time i dont have a connection anymore and Ubuntu does not reconnect automattecly. I get an popup with the preinstalled password for my WiFi but for some reason i cant connect to it. I have a pastebin from the dmesg after it happens.: [URL]... View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to use gnome-schedule to create a scheduled task that would dial my pppoe connection automatically. For this I used "sudo pon" command (after configuring the pppoe connection using pppoeconf ). Although the command gets executed, but then it waits for me to enter the password. I want it to be automatic & shouldn't require me/anyone to authorize it. Is there a way to enter this password automatically for the scheduled tasks?
Also, I'd like to use network manager, instead of pppoeconf, for the same purpose. How can I set network manager to dial a pppoe connection at scheduled time?
i use Huawei usb modem as default connection device , Why i have to connect and disconnect my usb many times to work properly? when i start my PC i have to connect and disconnect the usb about 5 or 6 times to get a connection to the Internet, the icon above shows that every time i get a successful connection but really i don't have it. i have to do it many times to get the connection actually established and the Internet truly works
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am not sure why sometime ssh failed to connect from my old Suse at home (Linux POMDESKTOP 2.6.18.2-34-default #1 SMP Mon Nov 27 11:46:27 UTC 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux) to my Fedora core 14 at work. I used the command
"ssh -X -l login_name IP_of_fedora"
Sometime it connected very fast but most of the time error with 'connection time out'. Also ping remote desktop often failed. How I can get reliable connection every time. Both desktops has been rebooted several times and both have internet access.
I downloaded the ubuntu server (command line only) iso and set up a server on a spare computer. The only partition is ubuntu. LAMP server installed, and runs. Its plugged into my home network and the router assigns it a DMZ. I use ptty and that allows me to connect the server from my Windows PC. I installed samba and that works, I set up the server as Z: to my windows PC, and I can now use Filezilla FTP to move gigs of files over from my windows PC to the ubuntu server. I have to log in to activate the connection to Z: but it works.
Problem is getting a database connection from my windows PC (client) to my ubuntu server. Server is running a MySQL server and an Apache Derby server but both give connection:refused every time I try to connect with a java app, or with ij from my client. I tried MySQL Workbench, as that has a GUI, that doesnt connect to MySQL either. Every time I start my server I have to add lots of jar files to the CLASSPATH just to get the Derby server running. The Derby client connection on my client PC is also properly set up with PATH and CLASSPATH etc etc all configured and tested. But the server refuses every attempt to connect even though it tells you the Derby server is up and runnign as listening on port 1527!!!
What I want is a script or app that will "unlock" my server so I can actually do something with it instead of constantly trying new settings and packages in the vain hope it will then actually 'serve'. I am missing something here. There is nothing of value on this server that cannot be 'exposed' to the internet, so I'd be happy to turn off all the security just so the damn thing allowed connections...!
I've been looking for a way to mount my time capsule drives under Ubuntu, and found some guides, but none of them work for me. Apparently what you need to do is:
sudo mount.cifs //10.0.1.1/timecapsulename/dirname /media/timecapsule/ -o pass=pa55w0rd
My time capsule's ip is 192.168.1.10, it's name is "Time Capsule", the drive I'm trying to mount is called Movie HD
If I input the following command:
sudo mount.cifs //192.168.1.10/Time Capsule/Movie HD /media/timecapsule/ -o pass=mypassword
I get a connection refused error.I tried a couple different variations such as "/"Time Capsule"/Movie HD",etc,every combination, but I get a connection refused error (111) every time.(I have two drives on my time capsule, the internal, Movie HD, and an external usb one, Media HD, I want to actually mount them both)On my time capsule I did set it guest access to read only... Also, when I go to my places> network I do see the time capsule in the list, but I get an error message that it can't access the shares when I try to open it.

I really need to make the connection constant and non-dropping. I've had opensuse 11.2 since march 7 2010, figured out most of it by lurking and reading threads didn't want to make threads but I really don't know what to do to make this connection stay on. I am posting Terminal commands from when I am both on and offline.
How I attempted to fix this issue myself: I downloaded wireshark, wicd,knetworkmanager. Tried running all of them nothing worked. I went into Yast and switched off networkmanager and went traditional still nothing. Tried adding opendns to traditional. nothing. Went back to NM would get online then after an unknown time I'd lose connection even though NM said i was still connected. Offline running terminal commands from what I read on here in other threads and stickies
