I'm experimenting with with mail-servers now and I'm trying to configure postfix to send emails from one email(pop3 is gmail) to any email outside the local network. Server is Ubuntu 10.10 with the last updates.
Try as I might I cant get postfix to send emails through an external email server (I can succesfully get client software to do it no trouble) After following the howto at:
alias_database = hash:/etc/aliases alias_maps = hash:/etc/aliases append_dot_mydomain = no

I get basically the same error no matter what smtpserver/username/password combination I use leading me to believe its my setup and not my username/password

As a part of migration I am proposing different scenarios to my organization. One which is asked to prepare is to configure multiple mail servers to handle incoming and outgoing mails. Say I have -[URL], I need to have accept mails from [URL] and send mail from [URL].
I have just built a new postifx open relay server to allow my ISP clients to send emails. During testing of the SMPT protocol, I can managed to send emails to my localhost however, I can't send emails to other external mail server. Below is a test to a yahoo account. Aug 7 15:03:55 mx2 postfix/smtp[4050]: connect to g.mx.mail.yahoo.com[98.137.54.238]: Connection refused (port 25) Aug 7 15:03:55 mx2 postfix/smtp[4050]: F084EC8D76: to=<ellyu4@yahoo.com>, relay=none, delay=8.5, delays=1.2/0.05/7.3/0, dsn=4.4.1, status=deferred (connect to g.mx.mail.yahoo.com[98.137.54.238]: Connection refused)
I'm trying to set up a basic smtp server on my local computer that I can send basic, unencrypted email through on port 25. I installed postfix, and I chose the following options:
Internet Site, System Mail Name: localhost Root and postmaster mail recipient: I left this blank For other domains to accept mail, I entered : NONE, localhost No force synchronous mail updates Local networks: 127.0.0.0/8
Since today morning we are getting this error, could not track down the cause
We are running : Postfix Amavist and Clam
70A6C45A1CE: to=<actualemailid@yahoo.com>, relay=none, delay=0, status=deferred (delivery temporarily suspended: lost connection with 127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1] while sending end of data -- message may be sent more than once).
I've run into a strange problem on one of the servers I maintain. It's running CentOS 5, fully up to date. The server has Monit installed via RPMforge, and runs Postfix as its MTA. Every day at about 4:20am, when cron is running, Monit loses its connection to Postfix. As far as I can tell, nothing is actually going wrong with Postfix and it's always restarted just fine. I run a couple of Debian servers with very similar setups, and the problem does not occur on them.
Perhaps related, other daemons on the CentOS box often lose their pid files at the time when cron runs, which results in Monit thinking they're not running. One service in particular (zarafa-dagent) is so bad for this that I've had to completely disable monitoring of it in Monit. Again, this problem doesn't occur on the Debian boxes I maintain. The problem isn't hugely urgent as everything still runs fine, but it does mean that pretty much every day I get false positive mail alerts from Monit, which is (a) annoying and (b) makes me more likely to miss a real alert.
I have one server at home, connected through a router that gives me a static IP:192.168.1.2 - My PC192.168.1.3 - CentOS serverI enabled the port 80 into router forwarding system and I can connect properly to CentOS server, using the IP my internet provider gives me. My router automatically forwards a changed IP to my dyndns.com account so I can also access the server through a domain name (I pay to have it linked to one of my domains). My next step is to configure the mail server (dovecot) , so I can send emails from my local server(192.168.1.3).I was wondering if anyone has any tutorial links or tips to have the mail server configured through a home internet provider + home router.
Two exchange servers internally. One is setup for example.com (192.168.1.10) and the other is setup for example2.com (192.168.1.20) Both are behind a single public IP.
I want to use postfix to sit in front of the two exchange servers. Postfix will accept mail for both domains and relay to the appropriate server. I have postfix installed with only defaults at this point.
I'm running SUSE linux Server version 11. I want to configure mail server with postfix & cyrus-imap. For that, i have read many documents in Internet by i met issues. I'm running DNS in this server & it's ok Now I cannont send mail through command line.
securing VNC connections by tunneling the connection over SSH. However, from the server perspective it will still allow an unsecured connections and you're relying on the client to setup up the SSH tunneling. Is there a way to configure the Linux server to now allow connection over an unsecured channel?
I have installed mysql package in ubuntu 9.04 .I have also installed the query browser software can someone tell me how to configure the connection dialogue box in query browser. also my friend is using ubuntu 8.04 when he writes mysql in terminal he can directly execute database queries there but when i try the same thing on 9.04 i get an error as "Access denied for user 'ravi'@'localhost' (using password: NO)"
is there any HOWTO for configuring Webmin Postfix server with multiple postfix virtual hosts? Seems to be a tough challenge to set it up without any easy manual..
so i set out to change the default smtp port the server uses because my ISP blocks port 25 and i need the email to work in outlook. this morning i could receive email, but not send it. so i did some research and thought that i needed to edit the master.cf file in /etc/postfix/ by commenting out this line: smtp inet n - n - - smtpd -oand replace it with587 inet n - n - - smtpd (587 being the port i want to use)somewhere along the lines postfix server stopped running and now i cannot get it to start.if i try using SSH it crashes immediately and if i restart it in simple control panel nothing happens
I recently moved over user from an old box running postfix(v 2.0.16) over to rhel 6 running postfix (v mail_version = 2.6.6). ive tried to make sure all the files are of correct permissions and that the main.cf file is configured corectly. However there is something wrong as when i run postfix: service postfix server i get no error but when checking the status:service postfix status i get: master dead but pid file exists Looking into /var/log/mailog i find this line being the issue:
I have configured Postfix, mysql and Dovecot according to following guide. [URL] My issue is When I'm Install dovecot ( using yum command). it Didn't create a "/usr/lib/dovecot/deliver" folder. Then my mail.log trace this error message
Code:
May 27 16:36:02 localhost pipe[26056]: fatal: pipe_command: execvp /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver: No such file or directory May 27 16:36:02 localhost postfix/pipe[26055]: CE9768FED3: to=<john@example.com>, relay=dovecot, delay=26, delays=26/0.02/0/0.02, dsn=4.3.0, status=deferred (temporary failure. Command output: pipe: fatal: pipe_command: execvp /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver: No such file or directory ) After that I have create "/usr/lib/dovecot/deliver' folder. Then I have set permission using follwing command.
I've search high and low.. does anyone know how to configure Postfix/Dovecot to use another SMTP server (i.e. smtp.comcast.net) as my ISP blocks port 25?
I have CentOS 5.3 ISPConfig 3 installed. I have noticed that some mail I sent out were lost. Expecially, email with subject like "a" or "aa". I think Amavis block my email. Please tell me how to configure amavis to allow all outgoing email by postfix?
make install then i got this error: postfix: fatal: chdir(/usr/libexec/postfix): No such file or directory make: *** [install] Error 1 I don't understand why it's checking the usr/libexec folder for the daemons although I've set the folder to /opt/product/postfix-2.6.5/libexec in the makefile. Here is also the cat of my makedefs.out:
I'm trying to send an e-mail to my g-mail address using Postfix on Ubuntu server but when I check the postq, it shows me that the connection to gmail on port 25 is timed out. I have a router that forward port 25 to the machine.
